Great Video! Your nailing a perfect formula that really shows how and what to do when visiting. We will always miss you here in Mexico, but are really enjoying your current adventure!
A tiny correction regarding the Three Crosses monument - it was rebuilt in 1989, but one exactly like the rebuilt one was first erected in 1916 and was blown up with TNT sticks by the Soviets in 1950. The ruins of the previous reinforced concrete crosses are placed nearby and can almost be seen in the video at 07:49 to the left. Other than that, thanks for your impressions and the video, I gladly watched it all with a smile on my face even as a lifelong Vilnensian. I also figured you could use our home turf support in terms of viewership/engagement to compensate for the loss in fans of only your earlier Mexico content. You're very welcome here.
Thanks for letting me know! Im so glad you enjoyed the video, it's always good to get feedback from people who know the city far better than I do! Thanks for your kind words, I'm really looking forward to exploring more of your beautiful country :)
I am in Vilnius at the moment.....in real life - it doesn't look and feel like on the video at all.....Do you believe everything you see on video and read in newspapers ? There is something - that's called reality....
Looks like there's another channel for me to follow, btw Im glad you appreciate the nature of Lithuania because it's truly the biggest factor that brought me back to Vilnius
Lithuania is amazing and has so much to offer💚 the slow living surrounded by the nature - what is not to love?! Warms my heart to see that you're enjoying your time there but it also makes me to miss my home country even more! Watching from Scotland 🏴
Well, šaltibarščiai HAVE to come with potatoes and eggs, not just sometimes :DD Oh just you wait until October, when the Autumn colours kick in. It will be a completely new experience all over again!
@@laura-bronner Autumn doesn’t last long in the Baltic’s. The 'Baltic Beast' is coming, blizzards and sub-zero temperatures. You better stock up on winter clothes. But it’s fun, Snowmobiling and Ice fishing. Wish I was there. 😀
I live 30 Km from Vilnius. I walk everywhere as well. It's fun that way and yes, this country has greenery everywhere; just not the green I am looking for.
I just looked it up, wow it's quite big, but maybe it doesn't come up for tourists since it's quite far out of the city? Is it worth checking out or is it more of a distribution market?
@@laura-bronner Gotta admit, I haven't been there in at least a decade. But it used to be not very tourist friendly. Just a sea of stalls in a parking lot with anything from clothes to gardening equipment.
Vilnius has an amazing restaurant where they hire people with a disability. It is located in the Old town of Vilnius inside a church! The restaurant is called Pirmas blynas and I really recommend it!
Loved this video! It definitely seems like one big park. So much history too! Just curious to know what kind of job your partner landed for you guys to end up there?
Well, I wasn’t sure I’d be following you to Lithuania, but here I am! Haha I lived in Germany for 14 years, on and off so my interest in that part of the world is not as strong as it is in Mexico but….it’s so fun to see you adventuring in a new part of the world. Vilnius reminded me a bit of the Czech Republic. If you haven’t been to Prague, run, don’t walk. It’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world. You are eating some delicious looking food (excepting the beet soup which looks like a bowl of pepto bismol but I’m sure is yummy). Before the pandemic I was eyeing that group of countries. I feel like the pandemic has stolen 2 good years of travel from me. At 65 you start to wonder how many good years you have left to schlep around the world . As you know travel can be brutal, though well worth it. Anyone looking for a taste of Europe on a budget, can’t go wrong with the Baltic region. Your room had all you needed and looked clean. A bargain at 34 dollars. Didn’t plan to write so much, but you inspired me! Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, I'm glad that you are enjoying the videos despite having more interest in Mexico. Travel can indeed be brutal, but I appreciate it now more than ever. Hope you get to get back to traveling again soon!
It's not really a matter of one being hotter than another, it's just hot. I was in Baja from January to May and by the time I left the heat was quite terrible (35C/95F). Here it's not quite that hot. During the time I was filming this video it was 32-33C/88-91F, but there's quite a bit more humidity here than in Baja, hence all the sweating.
@@anneli1735 Vilnius is not in the seaside area. It is 300 km/185 miles away from the Baltic Sea and it has a humid continental climate in contrast to the Baltic seashore with the maritime climate.

I like it that you give us some history. The view from above was incredible. That is something I would do too. As for the heat, I think it is rare for that part of the world. All of northern Europe had high temperatures in July. In the south of Europe July was quite cool. That is global warming for you. Two questions: what is your impression of the level of English of the population you have met; and how do prices compare with those in Mexico?
Everything is better in the summer. I'll take the heat over frigid weather anytime. And besides perspiration cleans out your pores, softens the skin, and your nails are healthier, too. 🏜️☀️🙂🥰
Enjoy the greenery! Lithuania is indeed one of greenest and underdeveloped countries in Europe with many lakes and forests remaining, where elsewhere they have been cut down. But it is also green because it rains a lot. It is even in the name "Lietuva" -> "lietus" meaning "rain".

Is air conditioning not to be expected in most of Lithuania?
The majority of people don't have AC in their homes because it's only hot during summer, for the rest year it's cold
Summers are never this hot here so people never really bothered to get air conditioning.
🤔 no need to pay for that just for some very few weeks maybe days?
Before global warming there was no need for air conditioning... :/
I live in central New Hampshire, USA which is a couple of hours from Montreal, Canada. We too had to start with air conditioning about 8-10 years ago.
