- The search is on for a man who runs a Houston car restoration business. He’s accused of swindling customers out of over $100,000.
Montes is probably sipping a margarita with some senorita in freakin Nogales! LOL!
😂😂😂damn you beat me to it
Why not he found a sucker.
For a custom auto restoration business, Swindeling 100k is a rather small amount in 2-years time
It is a small amount in the custom car world , not that it’s right to rip anyone off, but the news channel and all that . there are engines that cost over 100k .
also not to defend anyone because I work in that field , but there are a lot of states that do not issue titles on cars over 15 yrs old , so who knows what happened .
Yes as this has been going on for years with this guy
No kidding, there is a guy in Florida that had several cars in the range of 75-100k that were sold and never paid for and other fun things.
That’s why I am glad to be able to do my own restorations. Most don’t have the time and/or skills and shysters are everywhere
You can't trust anyone these days SMH
I trust you Rich,.. despite that wack azz Washington hat 😂

Hard to find good shops nowadays🤬
Of course.
What do you expect, even RUclips has advertisers that are selling scam items. If it’s in your face and seems legit, it’s a scam.

He's probably in Mexico.
He will be one of many. Mine the border.
This happens more than people know or suspect. A lot of contractors do this. Some are just better at covering it than others. Many prey on the fact that the client lacks the knowledge of the situation.
If you can’t do your own restoration, then don’t bother owing a classic car!!
There’s a guy who does something like that in Fresno and people have reported him and the police department has done nothing and they are still committing crime people report things to crimestoppers and they ignore you or they say you don’t have enough evidence, and they just shut you down That’s why these type of criminals get away with their dirty actions
Yes, Some shops you can't trust..... That's why don't mess with shops that have allot of cars inside and outside of the shop they not getting work out...
One time
I questioned the dealer invoice as the dealer charged me for 6 hours labor.
I asked the rep. to show me videos that his mechanic actually spent 6 hours. The answer was very vague.
Me and a friend, we went to a non profit mechanic shop in which the owner taught us the basics.
My friend went back to school, graduated with his vocational degree in mechanic.
He worked for a well known dealer…he told me that the dealer is ripping customers off especially on the labor.
He spent like 15 minutes replacing brakes pad however the dealer charged 2 hours.
He replaced a major part, he took his time, smoke breaks in between then chitchat with coworkers here and there then went back spent about 30-45 minutes then the circle started all over again.
The customer got scammed.
My friend suggested that dealer who like transparency needs to make a big window like those car washes where customers can actually see how theirs cars were washed and cleaned.
The dealer took note but that was it.
Dealer, Shops and anything Handyman are scammers
This is pretty common knowledge tho 😂 you know they arent doing labor for the entire time they billed you for. That shi isnt gonna take days or weeks. Took u all that time to finally figure it out is wild😂
It is a business and its called BOOK TIME, look it up. Its not a charity, you don't like paying someone else too work on your car then do it yourself.....
You can't Trust anybody anymore, with all these crazy things happening everyday in this country. 😢😢
Is there at least ONE honest person left in the USA ???????????????

See I don’t understand this. Because I am like “theft bad” so never really think of skimming anyone in my life. But on top of that I always wonder aren’t this people afraid of violence or have respect their life’s? What if someone gets mad and try to kill you for screwing them over their money? You know people work hard for their money. I couldn’t imagine stealing or misusing other peoples money. Mine maybe, others … NO.
People need to be wiser and mindful of their actions.
Living in America is tough and expensive. Folks will anything to get by and get the bills paid.
Speaking for your own actions? That is what a pistol is for.
Nobody asked him to come

Yep....Champagne taste with beer income bills.
Nah guy is a scum bag You can do anything but scamming and pay your bills
The news anchor said he sold vehicles with out titles companies can do that. You don't make payments they take your car. Unsure if he did this or not but a loop hole
You have to go to court first and file a mechanic lien, then once the lien is approved, you can apply for ownership. You just can't sell the cars without doing this.

only 100K? He is a small potato lots of scammers out there stealing millions
Automotive restoration is a hotbed of fraudulent operators. I’ve been in the classic car hobby for almost 50 years, and I’ve heard countless tales of fraud in that time. Many classic car owners are full of nostalgia and often fall prey to smooth talking shysters. There are lots of good guys out there, so take your time and look for good references from actual customers. It’s easy, go to any car show and ask what shops people are using - names will start popping up good and bad. Be cautious and use your own two eyes to see the quality of work. Listen carefully to what others have gone through to determine who is trustworthy.
The same thing has been happening in Mcalester Ok, dude has scammed way more then this out of pepople
You can find him back in Mexico 😂
His big boss will take care of him,sad but true 😢
Sadly a lot of people think that is the American way to do business, and is very but very difficult to find a good mechanic anything cost over $1000 this days even a simple check up, and always they found a lot of problems in your car even if is nothing there. SMH
I can’t defend everyone and think there is a lot of skimming going on in industry. But a reason to consider as to why things are expensive on repair side is low supply of labor and now at days parts are more expensive than labor. Costing easily 2-4x what they use to cost. So keep that in mind and the parts suppliers are basically a monopoly
“Classic swindle”…how fitting!
Same people every time
Right because white people never steal or commit crimes.
He is close by so he can keep an eye on what's happening and choose the best time move cars and tools out with help of buddy's and employees if there is anything left
Same as dell jones in calabash North Carolina
Just a honest immigrant

Some Hispanic families have been here way longer than your white trash family, gringo. They’ve been in Texas or the southwest for hundreds of years worth of generations. So don’t assume every Hispanic is an immigrant 🙄
