Cough for at least 6 weeks after a cold - done this and instantly felt better and my wheezing is much better. Started googling because it’s driving me bananas. Thanks for this video I’m feeling more comfortable. I know it will go away by itself but boy my body is tired of this cough.

Same here! My lungs get caked with thick mucus after a cold & it lasts for weeks.....sometimes an exhausting all night cough, with not much being expelled. So I use ayurvedic mucosal thinners to ease out the stuff. Breathing exercises help a lot & so does this huff cough technique.

I have to send the biggest thank you. My 9 year old has COVID and was panicking when she felt thick mucus in her throat. She was terrified trying to cough it up would block her airways and genuinely scared (of course! We’ve only heard of the seriousness of COVID for 2+ years!).
She had a bath and tried the technique and it helped immensely. For her it was easier to release it by blowing her nose.
This morning she woke up panicked again and when I reminded her of the technique she remembered the steps on her own and felt much better physically and mentally after a few huffs.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!! ❤

Bless her heart...I know that panic feeling of not being able to breathe when the mucus hits the throat. I am 60 and my husband has to calm me, and after I am done gagging, coughing and wheezing I sit and cry! I currently have a cold or the local crud, so will be trying this....if a 9 year old can do it, so can I!

Thank you for sharing this! Over the years, I've had occasions where the mucus gets so bad, I start to cough it and it gets stuck in my throat, and then I feel like I'm literally drowning in it.
Your comment gives me hope that I'll be able to actually cough it out, and maybe keep it from getting so severe if I routinely try this huff cough next time I'm sick. :)

You should do this by kneeling on something raised a couple of inches, then lower your chest down as close to the floor as possible so your inverted.
    The gravitational pull will help.
I would take this position well before starting to get mucus moving in the direction of expulsion first.

Recommendation: go to the bathroom before doing this. And preferably wait to do this at least an hour or two after eating. This exercise may cause bronchospasm which I didn’t find out until I read the comments after hacking my lungs out- so if you have asthma definitely use your inhaler BEFORE doing this- like at least 30min to let it really work. Cause god. I was trying to deal with my lungs hurting from inhaling smoke at a campfire- and now I have a whole new issue.
Also if you have acid reflux/gerd, I don’t recommend this.

I grew up with asthma and discovered this when I was a late teenager. It works fantastically. You can get a little more out of it by doing this on your hands and knees (phlegm tends to settle on your back from reclining all day... especially when sick) and if you really wanna go pro, I'll tell you when my lungs started to thank me.
Incorporate headstands (or inversion) into your routine or workouts. (I don't recommend huffing as hard when inverted. Especially when you are doing a headstand, the huff can make your core unstable).
Headstands are part of my yoga routine, and if I ever feel a little tingle in my lungs, I'll do a few deep breaths and semi-huffs while upside down, and if I really mean business, I'll do it in a steam room.

Omg man! I’ve had mucus for like the past year in my chest and no matter how hard I tried to hock it out I could not!
It was frustrating as I sing and everyday my vocals would change depending on how much I used them because the phlegm would eventually rise up.
I’ve been doing this for like 2 hours now lmao and it’s been so much mucus coming out it’s insane!
But I can feel that it’s coming from that part of my chest I couldn’t reach.
I think what really helped was those big inhales into your lungs as it opened up the area to release the phlegm.
My favorite way was to do the initial small breaths then big breaths, then the huff cough.
Once you huff cough 2-3 times you should feel it building up, now the key is to slowly inhale a deep breathe through your nose to not disturb the mucus much, then when your lungs are full and the passageway opens try and cough from the center of your chest.
I’ve done it about 6-8 times already and I can feel relief. Less and less of that nasty noise when I huff now too.
Gonna try this all day and give it a break tomorrow because my throat is getting soar haha
But it feels so good to finally start relieving some of this chest congestion

    • @ComPTonRiLLO
      @ComPTonRiLLO 10 месяцев назад +2

Also continuously blowing the mucus out of your nostrils as your doing this so it doesn’t go down your throat is really crucial.
I’ve been releasing so much mucus the past 3 days but not from this certain part of my chest.
      This is the technique y’all!

The absolutely best exercise for lung clearance...I think asthma will also be cured with this....
Unbelievable, why no doctors prescribe this ...

Worked great for me, like it pushes the mucus or phlegm forward and makes a little pile then a big cough takes it all away.
First time I've not been wheezy in a week or so
    Thanks
