Really enjoyed this video. Thank you. It’s at my level and full of the joy of fiddling with beautiful old vehicles. Happy Christmas to you and your family
Well done ! I am happy for you . May I suggest you disconnect your battery before doing any welding on any vehicle ( maybe you do ) . Even on vehicles with no ecu , as it may damage the alternator . Keep up the good work .
Hi mate, Ive had a couple of series 3. My first was an ex-BBC camera van for Take the high road and Monarch of the Glen. second was an ex British army number. never really had much bother with either of them but my mechanic was ex-REME and got stuck in., to bring the smoke/emissions down, run a gallon of paraffin through it on a long run without using your heater, not that they do much anyway, Keep on top of them and they'll serve you well.I'd love another one but probably couldn't afford it nowadays. All the best with her.
Thank you, I think I’m hitting the ceiling of my iPhone footage; front facing cam struggles in “low light” and my sound is still questionable but I’m evolving! Thank you for watching 😃
Great job. It’s worth stripping, cleaning and lubing the pedal pivot while the assembly is out. Mine was so dry, the return spring wasn’t able to fully raise the pedal after depressing. The bolt that holds the oil in was absent, (visible at 5:58) and I don’t think it had seen oil for decades.
Just brilliant content for 'mechanical' dummies like me! Thank you for taking so much time and effort in the recording, editing and uploading of your engineering adventures on the Landrover - they make for great viewing! Keep safe.
@@retromechanic2238I can one up that! The first time I attacked a master cylinder on a series Land Rover aged 20, I absolutely mutilated a spanner thinking this would be the answer to my problem and allow me enough access, many swear words later I had a brainwave and removed the entire assembly, never felt so dumb in my life 🤣
good to see it running, the clutch on my S3 was horrible when i first bought it, i added some shims into the slave, that sorted it for me, it's nice now not so sharp. and also did the same thing for the brake master as you did for your clutch, made all nice looking before putting it back "which i still haven't done"
Came to support a friend, ended up staying for the interesting content! Great quality content creation David! Really nice format and detailed explanations love it!
Brilliant to watch as always. No idea what it is I’m watching but fascinating nonetheless. Pretty sure I’ll be a pro in no time after a few more episodes. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas
When I got my tdi installed after about four weeks of plumbing air and turbo air and water piping)and it started first revolution I was so happy I just made a brew and sat in the drivers seat with it idling drinking my celebratory cuppa. Nice vid, have a good one. Result!
Really great how you explained the clutch system with a drawing. Great for us visual learners. More of this please and amazing that youve got it started!.
Tip for clutch bleeding in future. Big veterinary syringe full of fluid empty res in pedal box. Inject fluid from bleed nipple and fill system till res a quarter full. Top up res job done.
A quick twist of the fuel pump should remove the smoke (that's how you set the timing!) - My wife refuses to get in my Series 2a as she also says it sound like a tank! 😂
Cheers Paul, yes I was going to “advance” the timing ever so slightly but to be fair, the 2nd and 3rd starts are a lot cleaner It had a LOT of fluids to burn off on the first start so was a lot smokier than normal I’ll get it properly driving soon and then assess where it’s at 😃 Thanks for watching!
This is pure joy, can't wait for the next one. Merry Christmas!

I'm not even half way through the video, but I must say your editing is getting/is, really good! Close ups are so clear. Love it.

Really useful video, love how you’re educating those of us who don’t know what’s what - thank you. And congratulations on getting her started !
I looked up “scope creep” in the dictionary and there was a link to this absolutely brilliant video. Masterful work, love it. And merry Christmas 🎅

Great video! I was shouting at the tv when you was struggling with the master cylinder, I was saying ‘just remove the pedal box!!’ Several times!
@@Tale_Of_Two_Land_Rovers 🤣 excellent comment - I like to do things the hard (impossible) way 😃💪🏻
