Reading & Northern T1 2102 - May 25th, 2024 Excursion

The first regularly scheduled Reading T1 2102 excursion began the first chase of the year with stops to see the 2102 along the Reading and Northern line throughout Berks and into Schuylkill Counties. Watch the T1 pull freshly painted RBMN passenger cars in Reading, Mohrsville, and Molino and the T1 pull into Reading after passing through Leesport.

Nice. Looks like they did some badly-needed painting over the off-season. Looking good. I have a ticket for the June 22 trip. Fingers crossed nothing goes wrong between now and then.

Excellent shots! See 2102 run tender first at the start of the video was a nice surprise. Wish Andy Muller would have taken the opportunity to have 2102 pull coal hoppers while making that move. I've seen vintage footage of the Reading T1's running coal trains that way as there were no turning facilities for those locos in some of the coal fields they serviced. Would have been a good recreation of the past.

When 2102 was tested after being rebuilt the locomotive pulled 50 empty and loaded hoppers. The reason 2102 runs backwards to North Reading is that RBMN does not have a wye to turn the locomotive around, which also prevents it from hauling freight.
