to say that Domingo--let alone every major tenor since the 50's--are nuts--maybe even obsessed by Lanza is an understatement (D. said Lanza was his idol) Lanza casts a giant shadow, influence over them all---
Lanza had an operetta voice. Tenors like Domingo are the real deal: musicians, language experts, and stage performers with huge voices that carry and - most importantly - are able to sustain their power throughout an entire opera (and not merely one recorded hit).
@@sebastianmelmoth685 You say that among other things that Tenors like Senor Domingo are stage performers and able to sustain their power throughout an entire opera (and not merely one recorded hit) ? I must have seen a different video of Domingo attempting to sing "Be My Love". It appears that he has to look down periodically to see the lyrics. I keep waiting for him to hit the high notes that Mario could hit but apparently he wasn't capable of doing so. Apparently, Domingo is not able to "sustain his power through one recorded hit". If you noticed, Mario held back and let Katherine Grayson hit her high note when they sang their duet of "Be My Love" in the "Toast of New Orleans". Mario's range included singing Baritone. I know because I sing Baritone. He was also a wonderful actor and a "heartthrob".
