Never seen anything Factorio and the anticipation of the pollution/biter problem has got me on the edge of my seat! Totally stoked to see where this goes!
Yes! So glad to see you returning to factorio. Always one of my favorite games since I saw you first cover it in 2014. So many hours sunk into expanding the factory to meet the needs of the expanding factory. What an incredible game, and I cannot express quite how excited I am to see my favorite youtuber return to it.

Factorio is such an awesome game, it's so easy to get sucked into the rabbit hole when playing it! I can't wait for the updated train logic that's in the works, it's going to make trains so much more fun when it comes to logic circuits!

Very glad to see you're back in this game. I discovered you and the channel through this game many years ago and since then you are my favorite RUclipsr. I usually watch quietly but on this occasion I want to tell you that you are a very special person and that you have helped me through difficult times in life thanks to the excellent content you produce and the kindness that sets you apart, you are a special person and I wish you only happiness and success.

How wonderful to have you back, and with a new Factorio series, no less ! I hope you had a wonderful vacation. I liked how you sped up the video towards the beginning, but the cut to a pre-made factory was also good. You've probably already fixed it by now, but your left-side red science production has a copper plate blocking the input to the gear production. Looking forward to more Factorio !
Wow I didn't know how much I wanted a Dune/Factorio Crossover where you have to build your factories on the rocks making for interesting limited space and then find cool ways to safely transport resources across the sand
24:29 the burners actually can feed themselves. Notice it doesn't say empty? It starts with just enough power to feed something twice, and itself takes priority, so if there is any fule on the belt its connected to, itl take it. Its also fast enough to feed the boilers in the beginning, even with the fast rate of burning, its just enough.
Just bought this game, and it feels like a digital drug that is also tasty. I mean, every single sprite is an eyecandy, even g.d. bricks are beautiful. And it has enough content to last me an eternity.
Can't watch this right now as I need sleep for health reasons but soon! Very happy to see this, and insist on leaving a comment and a like before I watch this in half a day or so when I can afford the time. Very happy to see you return, and very happy to see Factorio return to the channel with you.
At about 1:00:00 we get a great explanation of problems with grabbers taking and holding a thing they don't need, while seing two grabbers staying empty, since they can't offload what they can grab...
This is no longer a problem these days though. An inserter only grabs something that is needed by the machine, but this wasn't always the case. So he explains that if an inserter picks up a red flask cause it has no green to grab, but the lab is full of red? That CAN NOT happen anymore without player intervention! First of all, as Aavak had explained earlier (when standing in the copper production), inserters don't fill machines up to capacity. I think specifically they fill up to 3x (maybe 2x?) of what the current recipe requires. So ulness you manually fill up the lab on red flasks (or switch the recipe of the labs) while the inserter is trying to insert a red flask, it will never get stuck. It will not grab a red flask when all the needed red flasks are in there, and will literally just wait for the green flask to come along on the belt.
Aavak, i used to watch you back in middle school, but havent been using youtube for the last 4 years. Tomorrow i start college and let me say seeing a factorio video really brought the memories flooding in. Keep up the good work man and i hope the ferretts are doing alright
Yayy factorio! You where the first RUclipsr to get me into factorio back in the days of your factorio guide with shenrir. I love watching your videos! Keep up the wonderful work Aavak.!.
Thank god for this playthrough. You haven't rushed anything so it's really helped me wrap my head around this as a brand new player. I don't have a PC so I've been playing on my Nintendo switch and I just couldn't understand how to make everything "work". Your video has been super super helpful, thank you!
Love to see you returning to this game. I've seen so many "experts" play this game, that I had forgotten how a "fresh eyes" player would approach things. I look forward to watching you re-learn this classic game
Yeah, he gave an entire speech about how an inserter that has the wrong item in it can't drop it off and will back up the factory, all the while he had a copper plate in his iron gear assembly machine
I recommend 4 hotbar slots (set in settings) Also, you derped the ratio geers:red science ;) I haven't seen Factorio on this channel for quite some while, I was always surprised to learn something, not anymore. Today I learned what the numbers on armor mean :)
Wonderful to see this on the channel, i haven't played it for absolutely ages and its still sitting on the laptop, this series will certainly inspire me to get back to it :) and in some ways it will compensate for the hopefully temporary lack of rimworld, perhaps a factorio seasons with a focus on a different mega project each season? just a thought :)
Ah my introduction to you [and shenryrr] strange how long ago it was and I could have sworn it was right here yesterday. Hope you and yours have been doing well! I look forward to the Factory expanding.
Omg i had no clue you were doing factorio again. Aavak i remember your early videos of factorio they were so nice cant wait to watch the new 1.0 release series
Hey, I remember you playing this as a first taste 2 parter. When you showed the robots feeding resources into your inventory I knew it was my kind of game. (Now I know you really don’t want to get the resources but barely enough to expand your base and let the factory build it all for you lol). But more importantly, it’s nice to see how much more experience you have nowadays and how you’ve grown as an entertainer. Thank you for your hard work !
I did during editing. It's where I catch most of my mistakes XD I'm always tempted to add a little text to let people know, but I think people enjoy helping out and noticing things they can comment on so I try not to steal the wind from their sails ^^ We all need those little things that give us a moment of fun here and there, especially lately lol.
definitely more. love factorio. after seeing your initial video i was hooked. have been playing the game since your first factorio series. you definitely need to do a mega project as the finale, would be a cool way to show the possibilities and wrap up at the same time. would also love to see another multi-player of this with you and another youtuber.
I highly suggest KatherineOfSky's channel. She has a great series called Entry Level to Megabase where she explains a lot of things. She is currently in the midst of a 1.0 playthrough of that exact series now.
Factorio was the first thing I saw you in, the multiplayer with you, Arumba and Steejo. It's always nice to see more of it here on your channel. Would love to see you do a new multiplayer of this with maybe Wanderbots or really anyone. Still looking forward to watching this playthough as I haven't played Factorio in almost a year, seeing what's new and things that changed will be cool.
As a new player myself I look forward to this series! Also I find myself getting a bit confused with combinator logic in this game so seeing you play around with it would actually be really helpful for figuring it out. Also, I noticed the input grabber for one of your gear assemblers picked up a copper plate at some point so one of your red flask assemblers isn't actually producing anything
@Lex Bright Raven If you're easily addicted yes, but I just like the game, I play other games too. You'll likely get bored playing only 1 game, even Factorio after long enough, (it's a long game too, ~6 hours for the current world record).
It's not backwards. It's just trying to put copper plates into a gears factory, so it's jammed. That's the problem with using dual-loaded belts. It's neat but it can cause issues sometimes.
@@MirageGSM This reply ended up quite a bit longer than anticipated, so here's a tl;dr: Getting inserters to jam requires player interaction (or misplay, if you prefer that phrase). Building or ghosting the assembler before providing power would have prevented the issue. Long version: Actually inserters are quite intelligent, as for anything other that storage they'll never completely fill their target nor will they ever pick up items unsuitable for their target. Therefore in your mixed belt scenario or in the science problem @Aavak is describing from 1:00:45 to 1:01:11, the inserter would never jam on their own as there is always enough space in the target. Getting the inserter to jam requires messing with the target after the inserter started picking up items, e.g. by filling the target manually or changing the recipe. If the target is a storage (chests, wagons/cars) the inserter can jam since for storage there is no point in not filling it completely, creating the possibility of still having items in hand when the storage gets full. Still, an inserter wont pick up any new items as long as the target is full. Belts and the ground are similar but will never be considered "full", so an inserter will always pick up new items. The problem with the inserter for the gears is that the inserter could act before the assembler was built. Aavak powers the inserter at 58:40; the inserter then proceeds to grab any items that is valid for its destination (ground accepts anything), puts a copper plate on the ground and picks up a new one. Then the assembler gets built (accepting nothing) at 58:51, before finally being configured to gears (accepting iron plate). Building or ghosting the assembler before providing power would have prevented the issue. (Which I'd argue is good practice anyways, so you don't pick up random crap inserters put on the ground when building over it)
Aavak! I love finding your commentary on various games! Always so well put and thought out, very beginner friendly and you explain everything in detail! If I could make a request, I found your channel through Gnomoria, and I was hoping you could revisit it, please? It's been updated and there aren't really any well done let's plays for the current version and it's really quite a shame.
In terms of the map being "functionally infinite", I believe that some players have tested this (using a standard map, as far as I am aware). It takes somewhere around three (real time) hours to get from your starting location to the "edge" of the map. This is travelling in a train moving at it's maximum speed (just shy of 300kph). This means the map has an approximate width (and height as the standard map is square) of approximately 1800km. Maybe as much as 2000km, as the numbers being mentioned in terms of journey time vary from around three hours up to nearly four hours. However you slice it though, that's quite a lot of space to play with... Edit: Maximum train speed was slightly wrong.
Oh, that's cool, I wasn't aware anyone had made a trip out to the edge yet. I'm watching a streamer who is casually building out a train line in one direction with an end goal of reaching the end of the world. His train trip to the end of the line is only about 30 (RL) minutes long so far though
Aavak is solely responsible for all the amazing indie games in my steam library. Also for the fact that i cant afford food but who needs food when you have belts... so. many. belts...
I follow three gaming channels on RUclips. All three are doing factorio at the moment. But Aavak can make even the most hectic or fiddly games feel so Zen...
.....and I second the call for an Aavak Is A Lazy Bastard series! Going for that achievement helps build good habits for later games. I love playing the game while limiting hand crafting.
Legit was looking to get into factorio again. Went to your playlist section to go watch some of the old videos of factorio only to see a privated playlist named factorio. Like man could you have made this at a better time.
Please keep this up! I've never seen anyone play it and am interested in a calm voiced play through. Also could you supply the turrets with ammo automatically? Thanks for this, and keep up the good work.
I'm rather surprised glancing down in the comments that more people did not have their brains melt in rage over the red science grabber getting blocked after the hour mark. XD Nice to see this again, I remember enjoying all the various MASA ones in the past.
Iron chests are great for train stations, both outposts and main base stations. 6 iron chests are more than enough to hold enough resources to fill a train car. But for something like a mall or anyplace that's going to absolutely be covered by a logistics network, yeah, steel is not a bad choice.
Ah, the map settings hurt me so. Good luck Aavak Edit: Oh, quick note, if you hold an item in your hand and hover over a container that can hold it, ctrl-LClick will place a full stack in, while ctrl-RClick will place half a stack. If you do this with an empty hand, ctrl-LClick will pull out as much as it can. Very nice for grabbing and filling quickly

definitely more. love factorio. after seeing your initial video i was hooked. have been playing the game since your first factorio series. you definitely need to do a mega project as the finale, would be a cool way to show the possibilities and wrap up at the same time.
would also love to see another multi-player of this with you and another youtuber.
I would love a tutorial style for this game. This is the first factiorio episode I've ever seen and I'd love to learn more before buying.
I'm glad to see you revisiting factorio for its release! I originally found your channel from one of your factorio playthroughs several years ago. ^_^
I can't wait for the next episode of this series, thanks Aavak love all your videos
Welcome back, Aavak! I can hear your spirit has risen from the...well, the wreckage. Was Dark Aavak piloting that thing? Loved the video ;)
Ending a 5 hour Factorio session to find a new Factorio series from my favorite Factorio video maker...YES!
@Lex Bright Raven
If you're easily addicted yes, but I just like the game, I play other games too. You'll likely get bored playing only 1 game, even Factorio after long enough, (it's a long game too, ~6 hours for the current world record).
In before Aavak notices the backwards inseter on the gears.
It's not backwards. It's just trying to put copper plates into a gears factory, so it's jammed.
That's the problem with using dual-loaded belts. It's neat but it can cause issues sometimes.
@@MirageGSM Ah, it just looked the wrong way around to me. Good catch on your part.

This reply ended up quite a bit longer than anticipated, so here's a tl;dr: Getting inserters to jam requires player interaction (or misplay, if you prefer that phrase). Building or ghosting the assembler before providing power would have prevented the issue.
Long version:
Actually inserters are quite intelligent, as for anything other that storage they'll never completely fill their target nor will they ever pick up items unsuitable for their target.
(Which I'd argue is good practice anyways, so you don't pick up random crap inserters put on the ground when building over it)
@@equod_7947 to paraphrase: place the thing youre inserting into, before you place the inserter, and it wont ever grab the wrong thing

So excited!! I can’t wait for more of this series!!
MASA was the series, where I first found about your channel, Aavak! Been a subscriber ever since :-)
It has been updated recently?
@@Aavak not recently, no. But since your last playthrough it has been!
1 million tiles from center
Aavak is solely responsible for all the amazing indie games in my steam library. Also for the fact that i cant afford food but who needs food when you have belts... so. many. belts...
I follow three gaming channels on RUclips.
All three are doing factorio at the moment. But Aavak can make even the most hectic or fiddly games feel so Zen...
Fantastic avaak, looking forward to this let's play.
.....and I second the call for an Aavak Is A Lazy Bastard series! Going for that achievement helps build good habits for later games. I love playing the game while limiting hand crafting.
The king of form over function has returned to his throne
I'm so happy to see you back to Factorio, it's been way too long!
This is so chill and I love it.
Unexpected, but happy to see more factorio especially from you Aavak.
In regards to the wonderful tangent at @17:00, a study done in Jan '22 found that moles, effectively, butterfly stroke through earth.
So happy to see this old friend.
fun fact: trees also help to get rid of some sound pollution in real life
Legit was looking to get into factorio again. Went to your playlist section to go watch some of the old videos of factorio only to see a privated playlist named factorio. Like man could you have made this at a better time.
yes! I love watching you play these style of games! :D :D
I'm glad you're enjoying it :)
Please keep this up! I've never seen anyone play it and am interested in a calm voiced play through. Also could you supply the turrets with ammo automatically? Thanks for this, and keep up the good work.
Yup, auto turret supply is high on my list of things to do!
Love it! Looking forward to more. I haven't gotten the hang of the game yet, but with the official release I'll give it another go
Wooohooo! Finally, I love factorio.
Can’t WAIT!
You glorious one! I should have been expecting this :D
aavak, playing a optimization game... sign me up.
I love the small jump cuts you did. and the style of them was really fun.
Your last playthrough ended too quickly! I enjoy how you explain the deeper mechanics, and look forward to your excellent elucidation!
Yess so glad to see more factorio
I'm rather surprised glancing down in the comments that more people did not have their brains melt in rage over the red science grabber getting blocked after the hour mark. XD Nice to see this again, I remember enjoying all the various MASA ones in the past.
Ngl kinda surprised at factorio, but I am not disappointed. Thank you
Yayyyy! Listening to you is a joy
And reading your comment is a joy ^^
And now the long wait for AMASS and MASA video's
Iron chests are great for train stations, both outposts and main base stations. 6 iron chests are more than enough to hold enough resources to fill a train car. But for something like a mall or anyplace that's going to absolutely be covered by a logistics network, yeah, steel is not a bad choice.
there is a hard limit to the map but it takes like 2 hours on a train with the fastest fuel to reach
so yes functionally infinite
OMG aavak i was waiting for this!!!!
Ah, the map settings hurt me so. Good luck Aavak
Edit: Oh, quick note, if you hold an item in your hand and hover over a container that can hold it, ctrl-LClick will place a full stack in, while ctrl-RClick will place half a stack. If you do this with an empty hand, ctrl-LClick will pull out as much as it can. Very nice for grabbing and filling quickly
I wanted to share this.. While drinking my morning coffe I was loading my city block world and having this play in the background. My son comes out, screams Aavak... Grabs his blanky and stuffy and curls up on the couch next to me and proceds to fall back asleep..
You may want to start recording childrens story's dear friend.. Yes your voice is very soothing..
Please continue this game.. Its 1 of my TOP 5 games.. Rimworld Longpork is as well..
I'm a coffee guy.. 😊😈😊
That's so adorable :D
Thank you Aavak
My compliments to your Editor, really well cut video.
Finally back to the game I love! Thank you
Ooh, I'd been wanting to get back into factorio for a while now, but this works just as well.
