  • This is the 3rd and final part from my Delta air adventure back in January. Milwaukee to Fort Lauderdale is a very common route for me, but this was taken in the opposite direction. The main highlight here was my first flight on one of Delta's brand new A321's. But other highlights of this routing I had were running in traffic on my way to Fort Lauderdale, lots of scenery on my first flight, and of course an MD-90 flight to Milwaukee. Not only that but this was taken only four days after the shootings in Terminal 2, so I was lucky enough to get this. Thoughts and prayers for those involved.
It was only March of 2016 when the first Airbus A321 was delivered to Delta. They along with the slightly smaller Boeing 737-900ER's will and have been replacing older 757's and MD-88's. Originally it was known that only the 737-900ER's would replace the 757's, however the A321 has roughly 10 more seats and matches the 757 a lot better, than its competitor, the 737-900ER. Interestingly all the A319's and A320's on Delta were originally from Northwest and used CFM-56 engines, which are the same ones found on 737's. The new A321's as well use the more efficiant CFM-56 engines rather than the IAE V2500 engines found on most other A319/320/321's, as well as the MD-90. Most of the A321 routes as of now are from Atlanta to various Florida cities, but there are a few others too, including DCA and BOS.
