- Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is one of two major airports in the Miami metropolitan area along with Miami International Airport (MIA). In this video, I explore Terminal 3 of the pre-security area. It's a small airport with 4 terminals which are not connected indoors to each other. Allegiant Air, JetBlue, and Spirit Airlines has a base at the airport, and is the primary airport for Southwest Airlines.

I flew into FLL from LGA many times when my mother lived in Hollywood, Florida. I always preferred FLL over MIA airport and less chaos!

Thanks for another interesting video AK. Most of the amenities are past security on the air side. FLL used to be a quiet airport but no more. It’s become very popular because operating costs are much lower than MIA and the budget airlines moved in like Southwest, Spirit, JetBlue, Frontier. Airfares are generally cheaper at FLL than MIA because American has about 75% of the traffic at its MIA hub, whereas market share at FLL is spread out more, with Spirit the largest carrier at 30%, so more competition. Travel time from MIami is unpredictable because of highway traffic. I heard they announced they will be building a people mover to FLL from the nearest Tri-rail station.

I went on that tour (Everglades Alligator Tours) in 1972. My mother took my sister and me there. From what I remember, it was cool. Funny laughing at the alligator tamer wrestling with an old alligator with no teeth. LOL

I flew into FLL about 10 times when I visited my now deceased aunt in Delray Beach from 2005 through 2015. I never had any problems. I always took the shuttle bus to the rental car offices. I have also flown into DAB many times. I have always used Delta. I only went into MIA once as a boy in 1976 when we traveled to Jamaica to visit relatives.
Decent overview at outer terminal areas. My issue with the Fort Lauderdale Airport was getting from the terminals to the rental car shuttle bus pick up area. It was very confusing even after getting instructions from a few people. However, please do not think that there are no nice amenities in the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood airport. Once you get past security and on the lower level there are plenty of gift shops and restaurants. I had a wonderful meal. I had a philly steak sandwhich an one of the restaurants . There are even smaller cafes that serve food. I was able to pick up some gifts from the gift shop before catching my flight back home. Thank for the video.
There is a starbucks in terminal 1 pre security
This is a very nice Airport. Recently flew in and out of there and had no problems.It's very close to the Hollywood Beach area.

There is a free shuttle bus between FLL Tri-Rail station and the terminals. The ride is relatively short as is the wait for the bus from my experience the one time I took the train directly from MIA (where I had to fly as I wasn’t able to fly directly to FLL that particular day).
Close by is the Brightline Train Station ( goes to west palm & Miami )
I arrive to FLL every time I enter the states and I actually love it, for me it’s better than Orlando’s airport

FYI- Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are not connected beyond security. So if you want to use Priority Pass or a Lounge that isn't in Terminal 1, forget about it.

It’s a shame that some of your information is inaccurate. I’d really suggest knowing what you’re showing before making comments that are inaccurate. PS - Tons of amenities behind security and T3 connects to T4.
I hated it when American stopped flying nonstop from Phoenix to FLL, and instead made people fly into Miami NonStop if they wanted to fly into the region. I was living in Flagstaff, and at the time I lived there the only airline was American with Phoenix being the only destination you could fly to. That meant I instead had to take an extra connection, (most of the time Charlotte or Dallas) just to get into FLL and avoid Miami. It was only after I graduated university that they started service from Flagstaff to DFW, meaning that had I stayed for an extra semester, I would've been able to fly into FLL with one connection. But TBH, that was also when Jetblue finally started service from PHX To FLL. Southwest also offered it, but there was no way I was going to fly out of PHX but drive down I-17 at 3am just to make it to the airport in time

@@ActionKid Yea it's really hard to navigate when it's packed, also driving out of the terminal is harder at this airport cause there is so much cross traffic merging into the lanes. It's actually feels less organized then even NYC airports. I do like Miami Airport however

Fort Lauderdale is my airport of choice! I go between NYC&Miami&FLL is a much easier airport than MIA. Less chaotic! Delta has a nice terminal....Just less of a hassle all around. MIA great for travel to Europe&international,but within the US try Fort Lauderdale AK! There are tons of food options before&past security in other terminals! I specifically know so in Delta

BORING BEFORE TSA CHECK,BUT LOTSA STUFF ON WAY TO GATES,..WHICH IS A BETTER IDEA ,LESS CONFUSION & TRASH! A DULL BUT EFFICIENT AIRPORT!
If your coming from Europe etc avoid MIA where possible. Been there loads of times and would rather I didn’t have too.
I've been there before. Not very impressed. Claustrophobic with narrow halls, small rooms, etc.
