Dad used to take us back in the 70s as kids and we could go on the observation Deck in the old Smith terminal , he would btring his scanner that he built in small plane engine school and then after we would go inside and walk to the gates and look right at the planes and walk thry to the Davey terminal ( now where the North terminal is ) , When you could still do that , Kids today dont know what the real airport experience was like back then :) , No TSA , no taking off your Shoes ,, Free to walk around and didnt have to worry, that All Changed after Desert storm, when i came back from that , no one to greet you at the Gates,, everyone was piled down in baggage claim at least i have the memories of of a better time ;)
Great memories! I remember the observation deck, too. And dozens of cars parked on Goddard Road just off the end of the runway as the planes passed right overhead. 😊✈️😊
