The 1994 bumper here at 4:30 is probably the best Nick bumper to exist! So much going on there, it's insane, and I love it! Grew up with the bumpers from 1990-1999 as I remember seeing them all the time!

You can tell how in 1985, the creative team of Nickelodeon were really channeling their own childhoods with that 50s doo-wop music. Doug took place during that time period too. 50s nostalgia was at its peak during the 80s

Everytime I see these bumpers I get a flood of nostalgic memories of the earliest part of my life. It’s almost eerie having memories of a time not that long ago yet soooooo very different than the present.
For those who didn’t know another term for a “jukebox” is a “nickelodeon”. Because it only cost a nickel to play a song.
When I was making this video I found out. It would also cost a nickel to play a short skit (movie)

I grew up in the early 80s and this video brings back so many memories, especially the pinball bumper.
Most people don’t know what a Nickelodeon is. It’s a coin-operated single-person movie theatre that was popular during the early days of movies. You would insert a coin into a slot, usually a nickel, to activate the projector and then look through a viewfinder to see the film. Oh, and the “odeon” part of the name is a fancy word for a covered theatre
The old ones were wayyy better. Let’s bring this stuff back

Oh MAN. The end of the 1988 one was used as a sound byte in the Nickelodeon Director’s Lab software and I probably heard it like 1000 times throughout my childhood. This took me way back.
First time I ever see the early 1980's bumpers, they are amazing and the music is really good and catchy

@@Wonderhorse9006 😂 Seriosuly though. that not a reason, and because of how horrible they do as of now (late 2000s - future), I wanted to hate every decade of Nickelodeon, but I couldn’t hate them in the late 1970s - 2000s because despite their many flaws, a majority of their shows (back then) were actually pretty good (again, as little as I wanted to like them).

The one at 4:29 is iconic. It's the one they played for pretty much the remainder of the decade. Once Nick Jr went off the air in the afternoon they'd play this to indicate Nickelodeon was now starting.
It was on a lot of the orange tapes as well.
I think this part is an anniversary of nickeolodeon
It's the one engrained in my memory and I'm sure my parents cut the cable off at that time in history.

For me in my time zone, it was at 12:00 PM. It would be after Papa Beaver's Story Time on Nick Jr., and then the first show on Nick would be Gumby.
The random, brief “phone noise” at 1:42 was common on 80s and 90s TV. I always wondered why that sound would play at random every few hours (regardless of station)
Could be because they are about to show commercials from the local area/TV provider, etc. But I'm not sure exactly.

Wow! Nickelodeon has been around since 1977? Huh, I never would’ve thought. Ya see, fellow RUclipsrs, I was born on September 24, 1983. And then supposedly, around late Summer of 1990, that’s when I started to watch cartoons on Nickelodeon, by the time I was 7-years-old. I guess it’s good to know that Nickelodeon has been around for nearly 45 years.

In 1977, a cable service called Qube started, available only in Columbus, Ohio. Qube had several channels, one of which was called Pinwheel after its only show. Two years later the channel expanded its lineup, renamed itself Nickelodeon, and became available nationally.
Oh boy, seeing the '99 bumper and the ones following was a real blast from the past for me... having been born in '95, I still get the "nick nick nick n'nicknick nick, nickelodeoooon" in my head sometimes

it was only in columbus ohio so that sort of contributes to the fact that not that many people knew it existed in 1977
2001 to 2005 meant the world to me. Most of the voice actors I knew were in their late 20s to early 40s.
Nick started to go downhill after 2000 imo.

I was born 1990. Apparently I started watching Nickelodeon at 3 bc that abt the time Mother got Cable TV so I could have more options then she did. 100 channel pack. Cartoon Network & PBS Kids ruled in my childhood, so there were a few yrs I didnt watch Nickelodeon. I didnt start watching it regularly again until abt 98 or 99. I stopped watching Nickelodeon altogether in 2009. Thanks for showing this to me.

@@treseancann1261 bumpers started to improve, more interesting shows were starting to come out like the astronauts, it's pony, etc then nickelodeon whooped out autism speaks, started making more unnecessary reboots and spinoff created even more controversies, along with once again no longer airing those newer shows. I remember the late 80s to 90s bumpers because some of those bumpers were still being shown in the 90s. I'm a guy in my mid 30s and I grew up on Nickelodeon. Nicktoons, Nick Jr, my childhood revolved around Nickelodeon. Cartoon Network came second. That being said, my leash favorite Nicktoon was The Wild Thornberrys. I couldn't get into it. Or As Told By Ginger.

I was born in 92 but I vaguely remember a few of the bumpers from the 80's still being played in the mid to late 90's. more so pre 98 since I moved that year from an apartment to a house and specifically remember seeing them at the apartment. mostly very early in the morning on Saturdays when double dare or Nickelodeon arcade was on. I remember people getting slapped at ghosts and goblins. I also remember seeing the wizard on there and the scene where they unveiled mario 3 as a new unknown game confused me since at that point I had played the shit out of that game.
