Fun Fact: Nickelodeon used to be owned by WB but when Viacom bought out MTV (witch was also owned by WB at the time) in the early 90s they also bought out Nick since they were in a package deal witch is weird considering that some WB shows like Loony Tunes started airing on Nick after the buyout From WB.
He meant Warner bros and in 1986 It was bought so before WB owned it nick did

During the 90s, some of those 80s Nickelodeon bumpers were still showing. Specifically the mid 80s bumpers. I remember watching Nickelodeon back in 1993 and 1994 as a kid and I remember seeing those bumpers.

I love how some of the good burger cast was shown, it shocked me! Good work man!
Out of all the family channels, Nickelodeon had the most charm, those 90's bumpers had some serious rad stuff going on which made it easilly special and unique compared to it's competitors at the time.
And that's coming from someone who's more into Cartoon Network and Disney, Nick is still awesome dough :D.

The first SpongeBob bumper was first aired in 1999 with SpongeBob blowing an orange bubble that said Nickelodeon, but that bubble pops and that bubble makes a splat on the wall.

If I remember correctly, two of the mime bumpers survived into the silver ball era. One was the one promoting Nickelodeon Magazine. The other was a commercial of the mimes hat and his gloved hand imitating a turtle. Advertising how Nickelodeon was the first and only commercial free kids network. Both bumpers survived until Nickelodeon started airing commercials in 1984.

Honestly, they should make a cartoon starring the characters from the old bumpers. I think it would be a great concept and shows more people about the older bumpers and the characters in them (also it would be great for the line up of Nickelodeon because nowadays it’s either Spongebob, The Loud House, spin-offs, reboots, shows (mainly CGI) based off other properties, or live action shows so I think this show would be interesting. It’s diverse in both the modern line up and in characters, you never know which new wacky characters would appear in the bumpers)). It would be cool to see characters like the Big Beast Quintet interact with the Singing Fruits. And it would be nice to see the Doo Wop Dinosaurs hang out with the Dino Bop Dinosaurs. But I think the most interesting crossover would be between the characters from the Top Of The Hour bumper (both the ones from the 1985 version and 1987 version) and the characters from the Song Montage bumper. One episode would probably have them fighting to see who has the best group until they eventually they learn to get along in the end of the episode and realize have more in common than they think. I just noticed that the Top Of The Hour bumper uses original characters (except for Mona Lisa, so maybe she and a few others could try to come up with a plan to end the fighting) while the characters from the Song Montage bumper are characters from previous bumpers. I kinda imagine them saying this:
A character from the Song Montage bumper: At least we don’t have an announcer!
A character from the TOTH bumper: At least WE have original characters!
Mona Lisa (with an annoyed look on her face): I am NOT original. Don’t drag me into this.
Also I kinda imagine the dog and cat with bumper cars choosing sides (one for the TOTH bumper and one for the Song Montage bumper) and they’d constantly fighting until the end of the episode.
Overall I think this would be a great concept for a show. I wonder who the main characters would be (I kinda think the Blue Tuxedo Frog would be one of them tbh or maybe the blue dj guy from the 1987 version of the Top of the Hour). Everyone talks about the characters from the Nicktoons and movies but (almost) no one talks about the characters from the bumpers.
theres actually a lost pilot from 1990(?) about the 5 monsters with the orange shirts, their bumper from 1985. it was made and pitched during development of the nicktoons concept and sadly didn't go through

This may confuse some people but initially Nickelodeon was named Pinwheel after a show of the same name that aired on the network that would later become Nickelodeon.

90s Nickelodeon is where it’s at for me, nostalgia wise. I grew up in the mid to late 90s, and that’s when Nick was in its prime, IMO. I remember watching Nickelodeon up until probably 2003-2004 when I was a teenager. The new shows weren’t really appealing to me. Sure, you still had your classic Nick Toons, but the Nickelodeon of the 90s was fading away and leading to a new generation of shows for younger kids at the time. 90s Nick forever!

Why? Why did you have to change? Why couldn’t you have stayed the same? Why wasn’t I born at the time of perfect TV? Why am I continuing to write this comment? What am I even doing? Will people understand what I feel cuz of this? Probably? But one things for sure, if it was possible, I’d become whatever I need to to go back to that time period and be able to have the enjoyment of waking up on a Saturday morning to watch something like Ren and Stimpy every morning. Gosh that show is really awesome! Any counter arguments? I think not.
