Good message. I've been welding for 21years now. And your right. I'd be ts is beyond your favorite experience, don't crap the job. It's not good all the way around.
If I was told not to remove the baseboards when tiling or flooring; I would not take the job. If you want the floor to look good, the base boarding needs to be removed. Filler stripes don't always work out. Those contractors should had walked away.
They weren’t contractors. They were weekend side job guys who got paid in cash and who had no clue as to what they were doing. Which is why they didn’t insist on the baseboard removal.
This is why Rigorous Honesty & complete Transparency are super duper important & an absolute MUST period. While asking question's & documenting w video/pic's & ALWAYS get a receipt.😂😂
I'm a tile setter and I see a terrible mess in the photos. The installer has no experience in tile work and it shows in all the typical hard spots like doorways. 😕
I know very little about tile work but to me the whole floor just didn’t look right not just those corners. That baseboard I thought has to be removed in order to do the best job laying any kind of flooring.
My guess plaintiff only went with these guys vs. another was due to being too cheap and you do sometimes get what you paid for. Then he got greedy and tried to get more than what he should get and he got fair amount back, full paid amount and $500 for clean up.
The Defendant's did a horrible job on the tiles. They looked horrendous! They claimed they finished the job, for real? "Were the Contractors new at the job?"
My parents had a gearhead move in across the street from him. He had cars that would leak oil and he was concerned that they would stain his driveway so he parked them in the street. But don't worry, they never stained the street in front of his house. He prevented that by parking them in front of my parents house.
I think the judgement should have been more like $1200. The new contractor only repaired the tile around the doorways. He probably removed all the trim and bought thicker ones to meet the tile around the walls. The doorways looked especially bad because they were trying not to mess up the trim. Also, if I see that dust is tracking, I point it out or lay a tarp myself. The Plaintiff was extremely petty and unreasonable. I don't know why those guys didn't insist that the trim needed to be removed & replaced.
😂 Absolutely horrible craftsmanship..I'm a contractor and do all phases of construction for 20+ years..I've done 🤔..100+ flooring jobs and 30+ were tiled floors..You don't "Need" to take off the base board/shoe/quarter round.. It's way easier with it off so you have a little "Play" so you don't have to be so precise but again not necessary.. Not sure how many Sq. feet the room was but I'd charge between $$5-$10 Sq.ft. for people who don't know an average dinning room is around 14'x16' or 224sq.ft. so @say$7/per sq. The total would be $1,568.00 🤷
i could understand why they did a bad job, look at the door jams and trim the paint work looks terrible they seen that and guessed well if that is how they live like tenants why should the best work be done on the floor.
I real floor/tile installer will NOT use a tape measure! They have a bag of tricks to get clean precise cuts and finish. These guys are hacks. But you get what you pay for!
It’s quarter round not baseboards….quarter isn’t expensive and I don’t know how they could do anything with the quarter round there…but can’t do it with baseboards either. Pictures show a nightmare …he will have to redo it
Marilyn for PRESIDENT. Join me in writing her name in on the ballot on 11/5/24. We might actually see a president run the country with the good of the people in mind.
The defendants are "Shoddy" workers thinking they could say the job is finished & leaving the corners like a seven year old did the job. Give them bad reviews, revoke thier business license, & get their jobs back @ Walmart. The plaintiff is a "Greedy" person & thinks he is a smart person. He is not.
Defendant on the far left, with the beard is definitely high, and he doesn't care, and I don't care either, as I find him cute lol. That's my obligatory weird People's Court comment lol.
Any type of home improvement/renovation job is serious business because if you don't find the right people then you could easily end up like the plaintiff. It's imperative to find the right people for the job. No doubt about it.
Crazy as it may seem, I found all the folks for my home improvement was through the yellow pages. I'm not at all suggesting that you do this but that's the way I went about it and got lucky because the company's that I ended up contracting did good work. It's literally a crap shoot. I had no word of mouth or references. In my situation I was all alone so it was a unique situation and circumstance. I couldn't tell you specifically where you should go but by all means do your research or at least as much as possible.
@@adrianknight1406you are indeed fortunate! We've had 1 bad contractor that cost us 2k more. You really do have to be careful. Also, be sure they're licensed and insured! 💞
16, absolutely the truth. I did have a few duds there but luckily it didn't cost me big money. For the most part the majority were reputable. It's difficult, particularly in places like Florida where I am. Scams galore down here best believe..
As a retired contractor, I always tell up and coming contractors, if you don't feel comfortable with the job, say it's something I can't handle.
Good message. I've been welding for 21years now. And your right. I'd be ts is beyond your favorite experience, don't crap the job. It's not good all the way around.
My cousin's wife's dad was a contractor himself, he would agree with judge Milian's ruling on this case.
Same in IT.. if you can't do it, or feel you can cause loss, or if the machine is worth less than your hourly billing. Don't do it..
Exactly… the client didn’t want them to remove the molding 😮
The ego is too big for them to admit they can't handle it
Your eye is always gonna go back to that one tile.

My eyes 👀 were starting to feel weird looking at the Defendants and their choices of shirts… Jeez! 😵💫
Seriously! Was there a memo to wear striped shirts to court??
😂😂😂

That’s what I was going to say 🤣
the men all came dressed from the same guilty jailhouse rock shirt shoppe !
My guess plaintiff only went with these guys vs. another was due to being too cheap and you do sometimes get what you paid for. Then he got greedy and tried to get more than what he should get and he got fair amount back, full paid amount and $500 for clean up.
Man this guy is really just greedy wanting everything refunded and for them to pay for a new contractor, floor and redoing the driveway.
Judge Milian says: Cheap, Fast and Good. Pick 2. They apparently only got CHEAP! 🤣
how can anyone accept money for that job without their hand violently shaking.?
We laid timber look vinyl tiles right through a 4 bedroom house ourselves, it isn't perfect, but looks 100% better than what those guys did.
Did you remove the baseboard, unlike these guys who were not allowed to?
@@mrbear1302 Sorry I forgot to say, we did remove the carpet and the tiles in the kitchen, only thing under that was a concrete slab.
Always triple the time any contractor tells you how long it will take.
I believe the plaintiff was looking to get the driveway resealed not repaved. JM thinks she is never wrong😢
Because... "She's the daughter of a contractor." lol.
Her dead uncle was a contractor. She knows everything. 😂😅😂
Ridiculous judgment. Judge thinks she knows more than she does.
i am no tiller, but i did my sisters whole flat with tiles in 2006, my work is 100 % quality,
I've tiles a few times. As long as your first piece is squared and you take your time, it will work out.
He said I'm sorry but kept talking?...giggle
I don't think he understood what was going on.
They all was matching lowkey lol
You get what you pay for, in his case he paid for a crappy job
Father and son wanted to match today it seems
Buy one fraud get one free!
I’m stunned… She didn’t say I am a daughter of a contractor. Lol. Oh, never mind… Doug brought it up.🤷🏻♂️
The Defendant's did a horrible job on the tiles. They looked horrendous! They claimed they finished the job, for real? "Were the Contractors new at the job?"
That can't be their best work. That looked so bad 😬
Don't hire this family....Terrible
I was as thinking $2500 was owed back to the plaintiff but $2000 is cool. The defendants did horrible.

Tsp will remove it, just have to place carboard under it with a rock to prevent drips
Was there a sale on black shirts with light stripes in their area??

It's pretty much impossible to lay flooring without removing some part of the baseboard.
Wrong for the plaintiff was right and the defendant wrong. He knew he was not professional to do the job right.
Why is doug at the end acting like 2 weeks wasnt a long time when you can't use your home normally

The plaintiff wanted a free floor and driveway that's more than greedy!
Exactly!
Driveways are in cements, and you cannot put flooring on the outside driveway. LOL!

Hire a cheap contractor get cheap work. Homeowners need to beware and be careful who they hire.
