OLD Spaghetti MRE vs. NEW Spaghetti MRE

- Comparing Spaghetti MREs. One is 15 years older than the other. Which comes put on top? We also compare the sides, including Coffees, Ramen Noodles, Strawberry/Banana Shake, Cherry/Blueberry Cobbler, and Cheese.
Plus a few more sides make quite a comparison. - Развлечения
i was a U.S. Army Infantryman from 2005 - 2009..
we were in Iraq in 2007, one time they had our platoon stay in a safehouse for 30 days in the middle of the city. we were mostly living off of MREs with a little chow hall food they'd convoy out to us. i ate the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce MRE probably 20 out of those 30 days.. all i wanted was the main & the cheese. i'd heat them up, squeeze the cheese into the spaghetti, and "enjoy" lol.
dont forget to checkout what Col douglas macgregor has to say, same with alex jones also. our time is shortening.
milcomplex have already attacked Maui Lahaina.
Hell yeah and the spicy penne too! That bread will soak up your life, lol!
I’d trade for the jalapeño cheese spread and do the same. Game changer
I can believe it....especially if you had the Tabasco sauce. TFW!
Thank you for your service "Salute"
When I was in the Marines I went on a 6 month UDP to Okinawa. While we were there, we spent 1 month in Hokkaido, Japan for a field op and we were given cold weather MREs cause it was the middle of January with 4+ feet of snow and freezing temps.
The cold weather MREs were the bomb. The Beef Stroganoff and Chicken Spicy Oriental with Rice were my favorites.
I’m glad you did the side by side comparison. I am kind of partial to the freeze-dried meals, mostly because of shelf life. However, I have never had a bad spaghetti. Thanks again for the shout out, Me Ancient! God Bless
Eric, I'm with you on the 'never had a bad spaghetti.' My wife makes AMAZING spaghetti (she mixes Italian Sausage with the burger to spice things up a bit). I even liked the spaghetti they had in the C Rats back when I was first active duty. TFW, as always!
@ericluckstef6616 hey are you the Eric from Alaska that sent him the MREs? If so can I purchase a few from you?
I love how you share your knowledge of things while you do these videos. Merry Christmas and many blessings to you and the family. Thank you for serving our beautiful country for our freedom!
Merry Christmas to you and you are welcome regarding my service. I enjoy doing the videos and am happy when they make others have a little better day. TFW!
Наш любимый морпех, приятного аппетита!
Ты слишком добр! TFW!
Just discovered your videos, fine job Marine! I was Navy for 23 years and enjoyed the chow on the ship too, I was on the USS Oriskany (CVA-34) in 71-72, two tours in the Tonkin Gulf. BTW my favorite meal was Saturday Breakfast on the ship with baked beans and corn bread. Semper Fi
Danny, welcome aboard! I truly loved Navy ship chow. Never had a bad meal on ship, especially the MidRats. TFW!
It's the personality that shines in your vids! Always love watching.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.......TFW!
I've found that with mountain house it's better to use a bit less water than they call for otherwise it turns out soupy. Like they say, you can always add more but you can't take any away.
Enjoy your videos my friend. Keep them coming!
Mountain house is amazing. I finished eating the meal a day later. It had absorbed all the water but still wasn't as good as the older one. I still find that a little hard to believe myself, and I was the one who was doing the eating......TFW, Joe!
Looked more like spaghetti soup.
I love these comparison MRE’s. Merry Christmas and hope y’all have a blessed one with the ones y’all love. Also I love how Ace bows the camera down in this prayer.
Merry (belated) Christmas. We did have a blessed day and I trust you did as well. TFW!
@@MeAncient Yes sir we did. Now it’s time to recover. 😂.
"Salt is meant to be used if you have it" love it! Adopting the saying, lol.
Yeah, Kelly.
What I didn’t add was that one of the MREs in my last video didn’t have salt.
And I’m not even sure that clarified anything……..TFW!
Always enjoy your videos. Many thanks
I enjoy watching your videos and seeing what the military eats now and in the past. Some of the MREs actually look pretty good. Well I hope y'all have a blessed Christmas and a joyful and prosperous New Year. Looking forward to watching all the new videos you post this coming year.
We did have a blessed Christmas and Merry (belated) Christmas to you and yours as well. I trust your New Year is a good one. I'm looking forward to filming and editing the future videos. TFW!
Me Ancient love the way you do the comparison videos keep it up and we'll see you next time thanks for showing !
Thanks, will do, Steve. TFW, as always!
Once again outstanding comparison. Y’all have out done yourselves again. Made my afternoon.
Michael, I can't wait for y'all to see the next one. TFW, as always!
Your videos brong me so much joy. Inhave been watching for 2 years. God bless!
Vinny, I am happy to bring you joy thru the videos. TFW!
Glad to have found this channel. I'm subbed! Great video.
Welcome aboard! I am happy you found me. I hope you go back and watch some of the other comparison MREs....I have a playlist of all of them. TFW!
excellent! Thanks for the new upload. Have been waiting for a new one. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you and greetings from Germany.
Merry (belated) Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well! TFW from Germany!
Even after many years of hating MREs when I’m in the field. You never fail to make me crave one after watching these videos lol. That being said, I’m used to the Canadian IMPs, which I’m told have a pretty good reputation.
The few Canadian MRE components that I have tried have been first rate, for sure. TFW!
you brighten my day with every video. Thank you for your service, and keep up the fantastic work!
Jake, I'm happy to hear that the videos brighten your day. You are welcome about the service part and will do, or at least that's my intention about the fantastic work. TFW!
and can you tell me your upload schedule? @@MeAncient
Jake, when I get the MREs together, and I can get Ace to film, and then when I have time to edit........sometimes it's one a month, sometimes 3 or 4 a month. I still own a business that I really enjoy and so between that and family, it's really sporadic.@@JakeWill914
ok thanks! @@MeAncient
and you are my favorite MRE RUclipsr. Thank You. @@MeAncient
Awesome review I’m loving the comparison videos it’s cool to see your take on them
They've been fun to do. Can't wait to show y'all the next one! TFW and Merry Christmas!
@@MeAncient Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and your family too Sir
Awesome comparison!!
Thanks for the compliment and TFW!
A buddy and I found a pallet of the arctic mres in Afghanistan one day and tactfully aquired a couple of cases. They were really good. Some came with a banana chocolate bread that was really good
I’ll have to watch for that banana chocolate bread in the remaining Cold Weather meals that I have. What branch were you in? TFW!

Great video. I believe that cherry/ blueberry cobbler is one of my fav components ever!! Thanks for sharing as always!!
Gotta love the cobblers! TFW
friend, very glad to see you, there haven’t been episodes for a long time, the main thing is that you’re alive and well, that’s the most important thing
Just put one out last Sunday as well, my friend. Please check it out. TFW
@@MeAncient Thank you, friend, for sure!

Thats a good comparison of the two MREs guys, great review!
I appreciate that! TFW
Thank you for your Service 🇺🇲 and Merry Christmas 🎅🎄
Bryan, my pleasure and Merry (belated) Christmas! TFW
love you guys! Thanks for the foodie vids!
Gotta love foodie vids! TFW
Thank You and everyone in the comments that was or is in the military for there service and great video Sir
You are welcome and TFW!
i watch ancient with dinner all the time usually old vids, but what are the odds the night im having homemade spaghetti he drops this vid??? so Awesome!!! thanks for the content
Now homemade spaghetti is the best. My wife makes the best 'cause she uses Italian Sausage to spice it up. TFW and Merry Christmas!
So it's kind of a Salsiccia Bolognese sauce? 🤔🤘👍
Just to be sociable, I'll take your word.......TFW, Martin!@@martinkasper197
Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family Mr. S!
Merry (belated) Christmas to you as well! TFW
Nice video chief love it!! Hope you got all your Christmas shopping done especially with the new grand baby!! Take care you and ace!!

Thank you, Richard. I'll keep making them when I can. TFW
That cobler looked amazing 👍👍👍
It was! TFW, Robert.
This is exactly the best meal I've seen yet watching the last 2days
Welcome aboard! TFW!
Yes! Another twofer upload from Me Ancient and it’s spaghetti Sunday. Perfection!
Gotta love Spaghetti Sundays!!! TFW!
Another awesome MRE comparison and a good video. Thanks Me Ancient 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it! TFW, as always.
Good content and craving an MRE when I watch your videos! Currently a structure firefighter, but was a U.S. Forest service firefighter and totally had my share of MREs on the fire line! Merry Christmas and God Bless!
Were you a jumper? I did lots of work for BLM and U.S. Forest Service over the 34 years of owning our glass business. TFW!
No I was on a Fire-dozer module type III. Mainly on the west coast and an Arizona native.
Awesome video I can remember my grandfather had them I thought some of them were really good I would love to be able to get some for camping 🥰🎄👋🤗❄️☃️👍
Online...just google MRE for sale. TYFW, Joan!
Thank all u guys who served. U are America's heroes
Sorry that I missed this video.
Just wanted to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and and an amazing New Year!
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Christine! As always, TFW.
Happy New Year 2 You n Yr Family From Toronto Canada
I loved mixing the cobbler with the berry milk oat cold cereal. Best MRE dessert ever.
Sounds good. I'll have to keep that kind of thing in mind. TFW, Tim.
great video Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, James and TFW!
Need some starch on that cover, Devil Dog. Semper Fi and keep up the great videos.
I really do. Also shouldn't probably be wearing it indoors, but my drill instructor or gunny isn't around.....TFW!
One of those orange drinks is clearly a Tang like drink with actual sugar in it and the other is more of a sugar free crystal light like orange drink. So old one real sugar, new one most likely sugar free aspartame sweetened drink. I will always pick Tang.
If I were stick on a desert island, I would want me my Tang. Love it!
@@Elizabeth-tg7jo If it is good enough for space travel it is great for deserted islands!
Tang! I miss those commercials with the monkey
@@Mabu_T_Lusse You are an individual of culture!
That makes sense. TFW, Grant!
I am so happy to see you say grace before these meals.
Soooooo good!!
encore une belle vidéo ,bonjour de France et bonnes fêtes de fin d année .
Joyeux Noel de MeAncient aux EtatsUnis, Frederic! TFW!
THANKS for another great video.. Yeah, the new MRE looks like soup with pasta... Keep up the good work
Bob, I ate the rest of the cold weather menu a day or two later. It absorbed more of the water but still wasn't as good as the old one. It really caught me by surprise. TFW
Leaving the Mountain house in the pouch is necessary for proper rehydration of the meal. Sealing up the hot water in the pouch helps the meal rehydrate.
Spaghetti MRE was one of my favorites, as long as I could have some cheese spread and Tabasco
Fire 🔥 video keep up the work
Will do as long as I am able. TFW
Great video just curious where do you get these old military mres? Also ive had the orange electrolyte drink before and i can say its quite good.
I ate this exact meal over the weekend because I had a bug or something and didn’t want to cook. I also live in AK. I always use less water and wait a little longer. Tetrazzini is my cold weather favorite. The worst is the clam chowder. Great video! The cobbler used to come w/ the standard MRI burger one - can’t remember the number. Super delicious. That would obviously freeze here in winter though.
Elizabeth, I don't know if you have seen my clam chowder Cold Weather MRE review, but I really enjoyed the chowder. But I don't have all the fresh seafood you get to enjoy there in Alaska.......TFW!
So cool!
It was tasty and delicious. TFW, Kristen!
I’m stationed in Alaska in the army, we have the cold weather meals because the regular ones freeze in the winter when it goes below zero, last year when I went to jpmrc I loved the cold weather mre’s they over all taste better than the old ones, we would eat the whole meal besides the main when doing stuff then when we had time to boil water we would eat the main, also we would hoard hot sauce because I lot of people don’t use it and I would always carry around a can a lawry’s season salt for all my meals.
Thanks for video 👊
I enjoy making them. I am happy you enjoy them! TFW
More of this pls. Old vs. new
Oh, my favorite US reviewer. Good video once again.
You are very kind. TFW!
Great video as always, sir! Love your content. I am a little jealous because I always keep an eye out for the cold weather MREs but can never find them! Both meals do look good. The spaghetti with meat sauce is one of my favorite menus. Keep up the great work!
Tom, keep looking online by doing a search for Cold Weather MREs.....that's how I've found some, although this one was sent to me by a subscriber.....TFW!
The less-sugar more-water drink mix from the accessory pack is sugar-free flavoring (literally Crystal Lite), to explain the difference in volume. All the extra powder in the electrolye-carbohydrate drink mix is, unsurprisingly, electrolytes and carbohydrates.
Nice review
Thank you! Cheers! TFW
You make me hungry eating them MRE's they look delicious I remember them I liked them.
Were you in the military? TFW
@@MeAncient yes 4 yrs
When i was in during Desert Storm they had the packaged spaghetti and it was a squad favorite.. im gonna have to try the freeze dried one..🤔🤔 Happy Holidays to you and your family sir!!😊
Merry Christmas to you, Hugh. The freeze dried one is good. Just be sure to let it soak up all the water good before imbibing, my friend. TFW
First and foremost thank you for your service sir!!! Great video too. I did not serve however I have had MRE's and some are quite tasty. I do have one specific question though for you Marine... "How's come you're wearing your cover indoors???"
For video purposes only, my friend. TFW and Merry Christmas, Charlie!
Although I want to try the Mre myself, u explaining it the way u did helped me a lot with imagining it before me. I'd take the older Mre and trade the coffee for a strawberry shake for another drink.
Sounds like a good trade and idea. TFW
This is my first video of yours ive seen. And i noticed your shirt. Where you in the Marines? If so my dad was one too. Though i don't remember what he fought in i think one was in a desert.
Love the videos me ancient, especially seeing how different the other country mres are. When will ACE upload something on his main channel? Is he working on something big?
He recently uploaded the following video.......TFW!

This video got my sub!!!
Welcome aboard and TFW!
I remember 1988. Bust one of those out.
I'll look to see if I have that vintage......TFW, Sean!
better than a can of chef beef ravioli that sat around for a ten years. I would have grabbed a piece of chocolate too at the start. Glad you put a bit of bread in the cobbler.
It was good, for sure. TFW, Travis.
Thanks for sharing this, the difference is something lol 😊
It really is, Matthew. And TFW!
Wah interesting...im surprised you preferred the old mre that doesn't happen to often just goes to show ya they definitely dont make some things like they used to great video guys!
It was a surprise to me as well. Adding that old tabasco sauce was the trick, Danny! TFW
Who in the world came up with the paint color and design in the kitchen ? 🤔
I just remodeled mine and wished I would have seen yours first.
I love it, bro. Thanks to you, Ace and Micah, for making your videos. God bless and protect you always 🙏.
Bill, we bought the house with the tile surround and counter tops, but my wife added some paint to the grout (it was grey) and really made the kitchen 'pop.' We love it....lots of light and plenty of room. Thank you for those kind words and TFW!
MashaAllah boht zabardast ❤🎉
Indeed.......TFW
In the early 90's while in the USMC also my favorite was the corned beef & hash with the bottle of tabasco sauce... I always looked for someone to trade with until I got one. I'm still hooked on it today.
The one I didn't like was the Ham and egg omelet, but it was still nutrition.
That's funny. I liked the Ham and Egg omelet I tried in a video. But I like pretty much all MREs.. I'm sad that way, I guess. TFW and Semper Fi!
Boy oh boy they both look delicious
They were both good, but that older one was the bomb, once I added the tabasco sauce. TFW
@@MeAncient Yep I believe just by looking at the 2 the thick pasta would have been way better
I loved those canteen cups, God forbid when we went to the field if you forgot to bring that... Sometimes we didn't get MREs but we got "Hot-Wets" It was soup - and HOT on a cold winter day and that canteen is what we used to get it in the field. Tabasco would be great on the Raman and the OLD spaghetti is the BEST!
If I was in cold weather I think I would prefer the old over the new, cheers fellas and merry Christmas!!!
So long as you had heat....of course that would be the same for either MRE.....TFW, as always and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
As a 0311 we never used nor had boiling water. Always used the mre heaters when we could. Even when I was Recon. We had hot meals whenever possible
Yeah, we always had vehicles in the 2600 field. I was a 2621......Semper Fi, my devil dog and Merry Christmas! TFW
You had me at spaghetti!
I know, right? TFW
Much respect you Me Ancient. I appreciate your videos. There is no way i could try a MRE that is over seventeen years old but if i had to choose, I'd pick the older spaghetti it looked more appetizing. The new spaghetti looked more like soup with spaghetti noodles thrown in. The newer drink mix looks like Tang to me and the old one looks like kool aid or Gatorade. Which i found interesting, You'd think the older one would have been closer to Tang. That shake looked great I'd drink three or four of those a day lol.
That's good input, Arron. TFW!
This video will attract a lot of vets. Like me, haha. So, my unit did a lot of cold weather stuff. And I liked the lack of heaviness to the dry freeze dried food. Mountain house sells whole cans of lasagna, spaghetti, oh man, if anyone actually actually camped anymore, or wasn't afraid of the outdoors, I'd gladly share. I feel like the only one who gets to shit grin, eating all this amazing food. And mountain house is actually who the army used to buy it from,
It is amazing what Mt. House has done with Freeze Dried menus. Thanks for your service and TFW!
Hey I came across your videos yesterday and been watching all day. I just subscribed today , I really appreciate how you place them on trays so we can see the difference. I always wanted to try a MRE can you send me one ??
Welcome aboard! I get my MREs from eBay and find them on Amazon. Walmart even carries them! TFW!
Another wonderful video, Me Ancient. I'm surprised as well, that the 17 year old MRE, was better than the new one. I think that's the first time, that I can recall, that the freeze dried main course, hasn't been as good as expected. So great to see you and Ace sharing these videos with us. May you, and all of yours, have a blessed day of celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless.
Glad you enjoyed it. I was surprised myself as you could probably tell. I'm always talking up the Mountain House menu items. We did have a blessed day celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless you and TFW!
Merry Christmas gents and Happy New Year. God Bless you both and the family. A pinch of salt in the bitter coffee goes a long way btw.
Happy new year and Merry (belated) Christmas! TFW
That spaghetti with meat sauce was my favorite MRE when I was in Iraq. You heat the cheese sauce with the main, and mix it in. Then, spoon it on the bread. F@cking gourmet. This brought back all the memories, and i could taste this video. Man, sometimes i miss MREs.
It was absolutely delicious....had to be to beat out the Mountain House item. TFW!
Is that ciabatta bread? How does it stay fresh so long?
Awesome video! Love MRE's! Great video! Question... Where is Ace? He hasn't posted in over 4 months? Is he okay? I miss his vids... All the best! XPLRNW
He has posted......just on other of his 4 channels. Tks for the kind words about the video and TFW!
I was so hoping you would mix the raisins and the m&ms!
Good idea for next time, Molly. TFW
Me and wife wants to start stocking up on our mre, just incase. Could you tell the differences between case A B C and so on. Thanks
That has to do with the accessory pack. There is a website (cannot remember the name) but you could Google 'MRE menus listed' or something like and find the site that lists every MRE of each year and tells what the various accessory packets are made up of. Good luck and TFW!
Do you have any idea where to get the cold weather mre everywhere I look is out of stock?
Keep looking....they release new ones from time to time and all of the sudden the online market is flooded with them. TFW!
I don’t know why it is but I love flavor of the cold weather MREs! They also have more calories. Didn’t get the arctic ones too often even tho I was stationed at fort wainwright. Miss that place!
My brother was Airborne somewhere in Alaska....I believe it was Fort Richardson. This was 40 years ago. TFW!
Man that brings me back I fucking love MRIs I had those after Katrina fuck I had so many favorite ones. I love the beef stew and spaghetti. Those are top-tier my favorite it’s like watching Time machine on your video man that is so cool.
Don't forget to save an MRE for every MRE that you eat! You'll need it for the impending apocalypse.
No kidding, eh, Matt? TFW
Thank you for your service and my freedom 🙏
So say we all .
My pleasure and you are welcome, Felisa. TFW!
