Let’s be honest, we’re all here because of the thumbnail
Speak for yourself. We’re not all anally retentive.
It's a shameless piece of clickbait. King George III (ruled 1760-1820) has absolutely NOTHING to do with the topic.
Mediaval Madness stoops to new lows and the simpletons are applauding this worthless nonsense.
You're not fooling a single person @@user-ev4ie2wx7k
Save the gaslighting for a more gullible crowd.
@@user-ev4ie2wx7kAnd as a former student of psychology that found Freudian theory fascinating, finding a thumbnail curiously humorous has nothing whatsoever to do with a toddler that tolerated a soiled diaper.
Try again.
Thumbnail worked
Nice thumbnail 😂
I was about to comment, that shit had me dead😂
Right? I thought that perhaps foul wind emanating from the buttocks was considered a natural disaster during medieval times.
I was hoping the vid was going to be about farts, sharts, etc. I was disappointed ot was not about that like the thumbnail portrayed.
Clickbait 😠
I didn't bother watching
I literally clicked because of it, I could obviously tell it had nothing to do with the video because I read the title, but it was so hilarious I didn't care lol 😂
Better not be click bait!
One of the comforts of science is that we no longer see these things as random visitations and can understand them and take precautions.
A lot of religious people still do think weather is biblical
That is honestly all I could think about throughout this whole video. I can't imagine how terrifying it would have been to just be attacked by nature like that out of nowhere. No wonder they thought it was religious.
You are one of the few people who include Asia in their reports of period information. Very well done
On the thumbnail though, bro was holding that in since 1 AD 💀☠️
They couldn't escape running in those pointed shoes...
At least they always knew where they were going. Early GPS?
😂😂 🎉 @Thauma
They used those enormous codpieces as floats or to just push peasants out of the way as they ran.
An unexplainable tornado must have been absolutely terrifying
I completely understand why they thought everything was the wrath of God. How would we explain all these things now to them?! 😅
@@KimmieSunshine exactly lmao I'd be by the book of any god they’re preaching
Edit: random word entered sentence
@@KimmieSunshine We may explain these events now in scientific terms, but that does not mean a divine being is not the primary cause.
Explained or not, I'd imagine a tornado is terrifying.
@@user-ug2hk3go6i idk man those tornado warnings are pretty apparent haha
Even bigger than the Great Drowning was St Lucia's Flood in 1287. it permanently changed the Netherland coast creating the Zuiderzee and killing over 50,000.
Yeah they say the New Madrid Missouri earthquake of 1811-1812 was so powerful that it rung church bells in Boston and for a while and made the Mississippi River flow backwards.
Lol Americans with the medieval mindset still in the 1810s😂 ”the earth spirit whipped the river so it flew backward, curch bells rung up in Boston and people had no idea what was happening back in Missouri, they tought god himself had rung up those bells so that everyone would know of the day of reckoning and the happenings that come next, then, the ground shook and everyone stood silent”
@@HeavyLefty 😄😄😄😄😄 and in the 21st century there's still people who think everything is a conspiracy theory
Climate change is a conspiracy theory @@grapeshot
@@HeavyLeftyk... but that earthquake did make those things happen. What did you want them to say?
@@BeppyCat k… I didn’t wan’t them to say anything specific but could you send a message for me to stop the use of this ”k…” it really is just used in a negative light in conversation and feels REALLY stupid to use yourself.
Thumbnail really got us all here. Well played good sir.
Had a natural disaster in my bathroom this morning, guessing they didn’t have a Ye Olde Taco Bell back then?
My great-uncle was Montford Marine and he fought in the battle of Okinawa he told me about the Kamikaze but it was a steel Kamikaze made out of zero airplanes.
Thanks for these vids
Other great video as usual. Love all the history
This really brightened my day
The artists of the mediaeval period were absolutely wonderful although sometimes I laugh at the expressions they give to torture victims.
Also, I feel the greatest of the artists were the Japanese. How they crammed so much information into the painting was near genius.
Whoever drew that thumbnail is the greatest
@@chad_byou should see the Japanese fart art from the past. It’s absolutely hilarious
Love this channel! Looking forward to the next video! ❤❤😊
Despite all of our technological advances and scientific progress, the manner in which the Medieval people experienced natural disasters, is exactly identical to how we experience them today. We think we’ve come so far. On the contrary, we have built a civilization and society which is so dependent upon our technology, that we have left ourselves more vulnerable to natural disasters than ever before in the history of man.
Nice video, thanks man.
Yay! Medieval Madness!
Great channel!!! Greetings from The Netherlands ❤❤
Great episode! Good pint about how such descriptions heavily depend on the chroniclers. Of course, taken with a grain of salt, these writings really are valuable.
Very interesting! ❤
Clicked because of the hilarious thumbnail, subscribed for the great, to the point video 💙
The thumbnail is a shameless piece of clickbait. King George III (ruled 1760-1820) has absolutely NOTHING to do with the topic.
If clickbait is now applauded, what is next? Laughing on the floor because of a "funny" ad?
RUclips content is getting dumber and dumber, but so are the viewers it seems.
@boogiesmell5181 I'm not stupid, I knew when I clicked the video that the thumbnail had nothing to do with it. Seriously all you have to do is read the title and look at the pic to figure it out. It was a funny pic tho, so it piqued my interest. Maybe get off your high horse mister fussy pants.
Just calling a spade a spade.
What’s funnier is medieval depictions of cats 😂😂😂like in same era
That thumbnail is kamakaze... the divine wind.
Divine wind 😮
I love this show 👍
From Guam, USA 🇺🇸
I want coverage of the natural disaster depicted in the thumbnail... I think I smell a little clickbait...
They definitely covered it in the video. They just never said where the “divine wind” came from
Ironic you posted this as my part of Ohio just suffered a horrific tornado only two days ago. Dead bodies were actually reported floating in our local lake.😓
😢
@@luxste yes, it’s been a very traumatic past few days
I'm so sorry, we have very high winds in the UK but nothing like a Tornado, it must have been terrifying, I hope everything is ok with you and yours.
😢 hugs, how awful. I grew up in a tornado ridden area. Not if, but when.
@@OdeInWessex it was horrifying and the worst of the damage was less than a mile from me, but thanks be to God, our home was not hit. Many good friends and neighbors have lost absolutely everything though. 😓
"Englisher pig dog, i fart in your general direction"!- Monty Python
Great episode! Thanks
Why did I just get unsubscribed from this channel? It’s so weird, when I’m subbed, I rarely get new vid notifications tho I hit all, does anyone else have that?
Not necessarily with this channel, but definitely with several I'm "subscribed" to.i feel like I'm part of a psychology experiment. RUclips wants to know how badly I really want to watch the channels I've subscribed to.
Not entirely sure why you have a cartoon of George, the Prince Regent (I'm guessing) probably by James Gillray to head a video on Medieval Disasters? Great video btw, love these.
The time of the Prince regent In England was an 'interesting' time.
@@giselematthews7949 It was, fascinating, but it wasn't the Middle Ages!
Probably because it's a funny depiction of a disastrous wind.
You are actually a nerd
@@cmachinist a most dastardly and awful breeze.
I was just thinking about this
I’ve always wondered why Antioch is mentioned in a incident and biblical history but not in more recent history…now I see why.
the thumbnail is absolutely hilarious. The guy on the left lets out what I can only assume is a booming fart, and he does this with pure pleasure too. The guy on the right, much to his chagrin, is down wind of this monstrous gust. The scent just touched the hairs of his nose. Aware of what just happened, he must endure the cloud of stink that enveloped him.
Catastrophic failure of the local sewage treatment plant.
11:50 I believe, 'divine wind' it was called 😆😆
Each to their own I guess, but I find it soooo dumb and lowest common denominator. "He farted hahaha!"
And it's about John Bull / King George III (ruled 1760-1820) so has nothing at all to do with the topic.
This is the purest form of clickbait.
But clearly it works. A few years from now, maybe all youtube clips will have thumbnails of people farting, regardless of the topic. And simpletons will think it's hysterically funny, until it doesn't work anymore. Then something even more stupid will be called for to get quick clicks.
Do you run another RUclips chanel? , your voice sounds familiar
Agreed
It's definitely not willjum
@@MacLeodddd I know what you mean although there's a lot of middle-class Brits with this accent tbf

One for a future video please, the 551 AD Beirut Earthquake, Tsunami and 3 month long fire in the City.
Thanks for this video!! I never knew they had to deal with such things.
Really? I'm curious to know why you would think such a thing. Catastrophes happen all the time. How could they have avoided it? I'm actually curious, not trolling
Great thumbnail.
Suprised you missed the Volcanic Winter of 536 AD which affected most of Europe and the Plague of Justinian in the same decade?
Is that in the middle ages? Legit question as i have no idea when they start
He didn't. Lol
Love that thumbnail -which is a depiction of the climax of the "Preface to the Nun's Priest's Tale" by Chaucer. Just one more reason to teach Chaucer. So funny, do read it.
Hello. Please update episodes on podcasts too.
At least they were able to salvage the Holy Hand Grenade.
Ah! Must be Friday!
The thumbnail 😆 😂🤪💀
Irony: the Volcano kingdom named Iceland.
Also: Godzilla 2, Mongols 0
The Divine Wind had to be the only time in history when a natural disaster actually saved the local population.
*Volcanic winter of 536 CE* was very bad!
It lasted longer than only the year of 536.The sky was dark at noon with low temperatures and crop failures.
"The volcanic winter of 536 was the most severe and protracted episode of climatic cooling in the Northern Hemisphere
in the last 2,000 years. The volcanic winter was caused by at least three simultaneous eruptions of uncertain origin,
with several possible locations proposed in various continents." -- Wikipedia
Tf was that thumbnail 😂😂😂😂
Of course back then you could just blame on God's wrath against sin.
I never heard of them even trying to take Japan.... because of the water
Wasn't near old Antioch that two powerful earthquakes happened last year? That seems to a bad place to live...
They had cinder blocks in Antioch?
The thumbnail enticed me to click before I even read the title.
Apparently the volcanic explosion that happened in Indonesia was heard around the world.
" Bring forth the holy hand grenade of Antioch"
tornadoes ?
Nice video.....I will blame yourube for the constant ad interruptions. Like had 3 ads in the first 4 minutes and 1 every minute or for the rest of the video. Surely you did not cause this to pad those pockets with ad revenue
526... was the Dark Ages, not the Middle Ages. smh
The thumbnail must be what they believed the cause of a tornado to be
Hey y'all 😮
That thumbnail is cursed 😂
The thumbnail 💀
Wasn't there a holy hand grenade from Antioch??
Whose to say some summers were as hot or hotter than the last ones but records not accurate.

That thumbnail though. 🤣
The worst period to live on earth was when the volcano eruption caused a winter and spread of numerous diseases. Poor people who learning history can see that things like viruses or natural disasters happens also today
When did the dark ages become the Middle Ages?
Same thing, historians dislike the term 'Dark Ages' and who can blame them. If you spent all your time studying the period you wouldn't want a péjorative term like the 'Dark Ages' used. 'Middle Ages' is less judgmental, more factual. The Modern period started with the Tudor Dynasty (early Modern) in the UK, not sure when it happened elsewhere.
He did a video on specific timeless of historic ages in the last year.
Antioch disaster was not the Middle Ages. Muddle Ages, by your definition.
