    I was born in 2002, so I was a rugrat during Rugrats' final years funilly enough. As a kid growing up in the later half of the 2000s, I watched Rugrats and All Grown Up via reruns, but my obsession truly began around 2011 when it felt like the 90s were coming back in a big way.
    I fell in love with Rugrats and All Grown Up, with them both becoming 2 of my favorite cartoons of all time. Express Yourself was game I played via emulation in my tween years and I absolutely fell in love with it. I was eventually able to find a physical copy at a thrift store back in 2015. Definitely one of my favorite Nick games.
    Great video as always, man. Keep up the good work.

      I can relate. By the time I was introduced to the series, the show was off the air for a few years. A couple of years ago I finally watched all nine seasons, and it's one of the best children's cartoons I've watched.

    Altron still always know how to hit it out of the park with the OST and Express Yourself is their best music work on the GBA in my opinion

    I was very much a baby during the 90s so I have absolutely no recollection of that decade and it's honestly crazy to me whenever people tell me that Rugrats was a huge show during the decade. It's not that I don't believe it, it's just that I always assumed it was a Nicktoon really only popular with the kid crowd so to hear that it was big enough to compete against the NFL is a big but pleasant surprise.

      Rugrats was ungodly popular back in the day. You think Spongebob is big? Rugrats was everywhere. It was synonymous with Nickelodeon.

    I don't know about you but I feel like Rugrats' 30th anniversary should have been a special about the babies as adults. I don't know, ever since I saw South Park's Post Covid specials, as well as the fan made Total Drama Reunion and Peach Creek(Ed Edd n Eddy), I've been more down with seeing classic cartoon children as grow ups and see what their lives leaded to.

    10:18-10:28 I mean, come on, don’t tell there’s no romantic subtext in these lines!
    Looks like you’ve opened the door for “Sugelica” to become shippers’ next big obsession.
    Also, I’m not sure if you know this, but despite the series being gender-neutral, most of All Grown Up!’s merchandise was aimed at girls, so it makes sense for the video game to be geared towards that same demographic. Perhaps Altron developed the game with the intention of being gender-neutral, but then a Nickelodeon executive told them that the game HAD to be for “girls only”, so they shoehorned in the PDA stuff at the 11th hour.

    It's a shame that nowadays Nickelodeon rarely, if ever, does any games that aren't focused on SpongeBob or crossovers. Granted, that might be due to them not having as much original Nicktoons as they used to and the ones they do have that do well enough (like the Rugrats reboot or Loud House), they probably don't think it's worth putting in the money to try and give them a standalone game.

    • @CartoonReview
      @CartoonReview  2 года назад +3

      It's a combo of not as many popular modern Nicktoons (like you mentioned) and the fact that video game dev costs are insane these days. Costs are the big reason why licensed games fell off massively in the PS3/360 era and basically disappeared in the following gen. It's just too costly to make a console video game these days unless you know it's going to be a hit.
      Why make an expensive Loud House console game when you can just put out a mobile game that riffs on an already popular genre of game?

      @@CartoonReview yeah darn shame that's how it is, on the one hand that meant no shoverware clogging up console markets anymore (just app and play stores) and no god awful tie in games to movies that never work, but on the flipside like you said no money in making nick games not based on a cashcow like spongebob or crossover games.

    i know its about three weeks away but im looking forward to the review of the unfortunate events game, while not the first nick movie game it is the first based on a live action nick movie. im a little surprised it took them 8 years to make a game based on the live action movies though, there's not much gameplay you can make outta movies like snow day or good burger but harriet the spy could have worked as a 90s pc game and clockstoppers was practically a video game already. (appolgies in advance if those movies DID have video games in some capacity)

    • @ultrairrelevantnobody1862
      @ultrairrelevantnobody1862 2 года назад +4

      On the one hand, yes. It felt like a great celebration of the series and could have been the perfect finale.
      On the other hand, not really. There's something so wholesome and nostalgic yet genuine about the very last episode effectively having the same premise as the very first episode of the entire show. It's a sweet bye bye.

    •  2 года назад

      @@ultrairrelevantnobody1862 Kimi Takes The Cake wasn't really a proper ending, Yes, Nick did have a policy at the time, but still...

      Kimi Deserved better as a Character. I felt like she was only used to increase the Longevity And popularity of the Show as a Marketing standpoint.
      Eventhough she was introduced in the series as Chuckie’s Adopted Sister.
      In All Grown Up I felt like she only had a little bit of character development.

    Hey TMNT fans out there, you guys should make a fan-made TMNT '87 2D animated continuation/soft reboot series call: TMNT'96 and the quality of it needs to be downright fantastic to look at compare to your average low-budgeted fan projects these days, it'll genuinely make you believe you're actually watching an official TMNT '87 2D animated continuation/soft reboot series! also later on in TMNT '96, both April and Irma start to have feelings for each other and after thinking about it for a little while, they both decided to start a TMNT lesbian relationship with each other. But wait; There's more! They both also go to THE most wildly popular (lesbian-only) night club in all of New York City and not only party out there like it's 1999, but then later on work there too as drop dead sexy night club dancers! #TMNT #TMNT87 #TMNT96
