========= A Lifetime Of War LYRICS ==========
Two ways to view the world so similar at times
Two ways to rule the world to justify their crimes
By kings and queens young men are sent to die in war
Their propaganda speaks those words been heard before
Two ways to view the world brought Europe down in flames
Two ways to rule
Has man gone insane?
A few will remain
Who’ll find a way
To live one more day
Through decades of war
It spreads like disease,
There’s no sign of peace
Religion and greed
Cause millions to bleed
Three decades of war
From dawn to dawn they’re fighting,
Die where they stand
The fog of war lies thick
When armies scorch the land.
When all of Europe’s burning
What can be done?
They’ve been to war a decade,
Two more to come
Long way from home
Döpas och dö I strid
Lifetime at war
Has man gone insane?
A few will remain
Who’ll find a way
To live one more day
Through decades of war.
It spreads like disease,
There’s no sign of peace.
Religion and greed
Cause millions to bleed.
Three decades of war.
When they face death they’re all alike
No right or wrong, rich or poor
No matter who they served before
Good or bad, they’re all the same
Rest side by side now

Sabaton, I don’t know if you will see this, but hello my name is Ibrahim. I am from Yemen and now live in Egypt. This song hits me hard, very hard, especially the lyric “Religion and greed cause millions to bleed”. I have experienced this firsthand, having suffered through much of the Yemeni civil war, a war about religion and greed. This song made me tear up even a little. Thank you sabaton. You guys rock.

Yeah, "Has man gone insane?" that's a good question that you can still ask till this day.
And the answer would be...yes!
Been insane since the very first Conflict in history
Every conflict has been the cause of only more suffering. The suffering causes another conflict, leading to a cycle. Break the cycle, reject the hate, and refuse the suffering.
@@Springtrap11556sadly that will just cause another war, I forgot who said it but " in war time you forgot why you are fighting your enemy but in peace time you remember why you were fighting"

This song helped me discover Sabaton and i have nothing but appreciation and respect
I still remember when I first discovered Sabaton several years back. I was scrolling through RUclips listening to GMV's and I just happened to click on one that had the song "uprising" playing to it. Never heard the song before but I liked it. I also really love military history so once I found out what the song was about I did my best to backtrack and find out who actually made the song (video didn't do a good job at the information...) and I been here ever since

I am from Sumy, Ukraine. And I think I will remember a moment from that war forever. When electricity was gone for a very long time, and I was lying on a couch in my headphones with my phone at about 12% charge hoping that it'll last until lights will go back on, and I was listening to that song. Just when I thought that there was no hope for electricity today, and it will probably go on only tomorrow. But the lights went back on right at the moment that song started playing! I had a feeling that I can't really explain. I felt happiness because of the lights, sadness because of the war, and now I guess I will remember this song for that moment forever. Thanks Sabaton for releasing these songs!

The relevance of this song transcends time, It's an eerie warning that never seems to be heeded.
This has to be the one of the most devastating conflicts in human history in terms of how many died considering the population of Europe around that time. Sabaton sums this conflict up perfectly, gives me chills every time thinking about it.
Yeah, for an example around 50% of the HRE's population died because of the war.
And yet within a century we have reached and surpassed the population before the war is horrible and meaningless but it also shows humanities resilience and ability to bounce back even from the most devastating atrocities

I love how the song is hopeful and optimistic that mankind will survive through the horrors it creates but only to the end of creating more war later on.

@@copunit12 And we've had good times for a while here in the West. It was on the Georgia Flagstones, 500 million global population and no more, that's 7 billion in the crosshairs of the truly evil and that will be the greatest tragedy in the history of mankind, global genocide and from there utter stagnation, all likely after the most devastating war, a nuclear war, in history.
"Has man gone insane?" is one of the most difficult and profound questions mankind can ask. This song is one of the most successful attempts at asking that question, and I think it's successful. As always, y'all made a gem.
And in a way we are we repeat the same actions multiple times hoping for a different results

Writing amazing songs about war, while also making you despise war is what makes Sabaton so great.
This is probably one of my favorite sabaton songs, it can be used for any war or conflict universally.
I have loved Sabaton for a while now, and only now I listen to the Carolus Rex album, where has this been all this time? I have been missing out a lot
The fact that they are releasing lyric videos for old videos is amazing! This is what other music artists need to do.
This song is suitable for the past, the present and even for 40 000 years later.
Humanity's self-destructive tendencies may be timeless, but so is our nobility and strength to push against the evils of our own making. Ironically, I find the Warhammer 40k universe to be quite hopeful and motivational. Because of the grim darkness of the setting, because of the endless hordes of enemies who wish to wipe out humanity, because of the Imperium's own stupidity and backwards thinking costing them lives... It's in such places where hope shines most fiercely when we see that there are still people with the strength and wisdom to do what is right. After all, a torch is at it brightest when it is surrounded by darkness.
@@Lazarultos I find the tragedy of 40k is not the horrific abominations but how far mankind has truly fallen to be on the brink of transcendence untouchable even by the necrons and eldar to the modern day imperium but how even if humanity has lost its technology its empathy and in some cases our very humanity our willpower still burns bright
For in the grimdarkness of the far future there is only war...
Y'all Heretechs need the Omnissiah.
This song feels like a story, one of a civillian watching an army march through their town, and walks up to the soldiers and starts to ask about them. They tell the civillian of their wars, their highest and lowest moments, the deaths and the bonds forged and severed by fire, before they reach the edge of the path that exits the town. The civillian stays behind, watching them slowly march away as they sing and cheer, slowly getting quieter and quieter..
I love it.
