That swedish "Pater" at the end... chills everytime. You almost can see the Caroleans fueled by their faith in god and king marching under the volleys of death to smite their enemies, pushed on by the words of one of the oldest prayers in christianity. Simply inspiring.
The swedish version is much more powerful, especially the "Ahead, Facing the lead" part, that part is so powerful the Caroleans probably turn into Angels of War during that part

THIS was the song which got me permanently hooked on Sabaton and got me diving deep into history. Im glad it got some fresh recognition in the form of this lyric video, i bet there are *TONS* of people that are fans of Sabaton but have not heard this song before.
3:33 That moment where they start talking about the facing the lead stuff until 3:56 always gets me in some deep thoughts. I keep imagining a bunch of soldiers with fixed bayonets walking into gunfire singing this and they don't care that their getting shot at.
They walked straight into fire and did not break, they took volleys before releasing one of their own charging the enemy and killing them, aside from the soldiers priests marched next to them to encourage the troops. My people were crazy but it were effective.

When they encountered a more disciplined opponent or a formation that was deeper with men the caroleans faltered and opened up a gap in their offense. This happened at Poltava and a couple others I believe. Most of it was pure luck and Russian incompetence amongst the officer corps

Sabaton is indeed one of the top bands in hard rock n metal at the moment, and for a good reason.. such good songwriters. Another band that is now filling arenas whilst soundin straight outta the 70s and 80s but in a fresh way , Ghost. Check out their new album Impera, Spillways and Kaiseron are such great tracks, the whole album sounds so 80s but so fresh. Kaiserion sounds like early 00's mixed with something unknown. Their best album is still Meliora (2015). Best song is Ghost - Faith however.

A smaller force that is fearless and utilizing superior and innovative tactics often made much bigger enemy forces just dissolve into chaos of men trying to flee or lay down their arms. The king Charles XII of Sweden was a history character that I don't knew until listen Carolus Rex (and meet Sabaton trought this song first), and I found him very interesting, becaming one of my favourite european king. I'm hispanic, and that why I didn't hear it nothing about him before.
One of my favorite events with Charles XII was when he was going to be crowned king at the age of fifteen. Then he was filled with confidence from his father and in the belief that he was sent from heaven. Undoubtedly, Charles took the king's crown from the priest and personally placed it on his head. Convinced that his crown does not come from the church but from heaven instead.
May God protect the forces of truth and freedom marching eastwards today and may they find more success than the Caroleans did in the same lands and against the same foes.

After 4 years of njrotc, I can't help but love songs I can walk, march, or jog to. Not only is this one of the best and easiest to march to, it follows it's own marching cadence, making it easier to follow. Add in the lord's prayer, IN SWEDISH, and now I'm beyond amazed.
Looked it up myself since i didn't know what the lyrics were and didn't think that the lords prayer could sound so awesome in both another language and metal music. It was a very pleasant discovery knowing what those words are actually.

Old norse was a branch of the germanic language tree and dating back to vikings in britain it has partly influenced the english language with some words being remarkably similar. Not that this has any value to your comment but thought it was worth to mention.
