  • In my new tutorial, contouring under or over foundation, I will show you both techniques so that you can see which side you prefer. I'll how you contouring under foundation and also contouring over foundation. I'll be using concealers as honestly, they work way better than contouring palettes and I'll show you why!
    In this video I'll go through each side step by step and explain how and why to apply the contour under or over foundation. It's a great way for you to see which side you prefer and also maybe try the technique on yourself to see which looks better.
    This is one of my many how to tutorials to come in a mini series, I hope you enjoy this video and if there are any looks you would like me to create, let me know in the comments below!

    I do my concealer and contour under my foundation. When I did it the other way you could see I placed it there whereas if it’s under it looks like natural shadows and depth. I do notice when people put it on top-it looks very muddy and you can see where the contour starts and stops. That being said, I love that Nina says “do what you prefer.” Nina never says you HAVE to do it her preferred way. But…she is the professional, so I’ll take my advice fr a MUA that does other peoples’ faces for a living, opposed to a RUclips MUA telling us we have to do it their way because it’s what they do in their face. Awesome video Nina!💯🙃

    I'm African American, I don't do a real heavy contour anyway, but I definitely highlight before my foundation and it definitely helps. It's cuts down application time, it's helps eliminate hardish lines and helps with flash back to because I set the highlight to prior to applying my foundation. As a white woman I can see the difference even so much more in the contouring as well. I'm going to try doing both after this... my struggle has always been with blending out... so this definitely helps me tons!

    Your technique is fantastic! I am in my mid 40’s and I just now started contouring. I could never really figure it out and didn’t want something so harsh. This technique is more subtle for my age and I love it so much. My husband even mentioned to keep doing what I’m doing because it looks great! Now that I have learned this technique, I have been actually doing it every day so i don’t forget it…. Thank you! Thank you!👍🏼🥰

    Dear Nina, I want to thank you for your videos! Fir months I'm preparing myself for being independent and have a studio for my own. Day by day I discover other problems that I have to face and resolve. In the last month I begun to do something for me: I rediscovered my love for make up thanks to you and these are the few moments during the day when I forgot all my problems. After one month my friend visited me again in Italy and when she saw me she said:"how you look good! Obviously the problems let you look better!" No! Not the problems! 😄 I just follow your advice and feel better with a good make up that's done easily and fast ..... thank you very much!

    Hi Nina. Great video, everything you put up a new one. I learned so much. It's definitely concealer underneath. Yesterday, my daughter's friends stopped by from California. I have a make-up room that is also a guest room, too. I was so tired that I fell asleep in our bedroom. When I woke up, everyone was sleeping. I applied my foundation with concealer underneath. I was amazed that my foundation looked great even after sleeping. Plus, I got a lot of you look great. Your make-up looks fantastic. Thanks, Nina.

    I prefer this way you Show first ... i wear Concealer underneath the Foundation too and this since i put on Make Up (when i was 13, 14 and now i'm 52 🙈) ! I love the finer Shades (like an Ombre on the Nails or the Hair ... so the blend looks much better), u have no harsh lines with this technic! Also i love Contouring with Concealer ... they are softer to blend than a Stick or Palett! Your technic is for me 100% Thumb up👍 and thanks for sharing your Videos!

    I get what you mean about doing contour and concealer under foundation, however, the only reason I don't do it is because I don't have any dark concealer or contour stick. That's why I've been using Too Faced Chocolate Soleil as my contour powder. But I love the finish that you personally like, can't wait to try it and share. It looks very harsh on the contour over foundation side whereas the other side looks more natural.

I would love for you to create a video of best skin tints for women in their 40’s. By the way, I’ve been using the Whind products for the past week and I am loving each product I purchased. Just found your videos and I’m obsessed and binging them all! Did u use a damp sponge with foundation? Also, I have some jowls, could you do a video on how to contour that? It’s saggy skin right beside the chin….

      Thanks for watching :) I wouldn't recommend using cream or liquid over powder as the finish will be patchy

    Amazing - tried it once and it looked great - then went back to reverse (contour on top of foundation) and 👎🏽 so contour underneath it is 👍🏼 ….sorry Nina I could have sworn you loved the Marc jacobs contour stick in videos going back a few now because you said how getting that warm colour from contour against skin tone/shade is key so not to look ashy but warm ….and so I bought it as we are almost the same skin tone / colour / shade but now I see you are loving the nars cacao, which is way darker then the MJ one as in its deeper richer not warmer so I’m confused love, should I buy the nars one now? 💚

    • @NinaUbhi1
      @NinaUbhi1  2 года назад

      Glad you prefer this technique! I do still use the MJ concealer but it just depends on how much time I have as the MJ blends quicker and easier so you have the right one, I just like to mix it up so I'm not always using the same products for you guys :)

    Nina, if using a concealer for conturing, how many shades darker should it be from the shade one uses as actual concealer? Thank you!!

    • @NinaUbhi1
      @NinaUbhi1  2 года назад +1

      I’d say around 5 shades darker however it all depends on how many concealer shades the brand offers. If there are a lot of shades they offer then you may need to go darker. As long as you can see it and it doesn’t match your skin color then you should be fine

    I’ve been seeing other ppl do the contour underneath and after this video I’m a fan of underneath without even have to try 😂 but I will this weekend. Do you also put blush underneath as well?

    • @NinaUbhi1
      @NinaUbhi1  2 месяца назад

      You’re gonna love it! Yes you can apply blush underneath as long as it’s cream or liquid texture.

    If I wanted to use a concealer to contour, is there a specific shade I'd need to use or can I use anything darker than my skin tone?

    • @NinaUbhi1
      @NinaUbhi1  2 года назад

      You can use a darker shade but make sure it’s an undertone that flatters your skin color. For example on my skin I opt for a chocolate color as once it’s blended, it gives the right amount of depth.

    I’ve a question- when applying the foundation, why use the beauty blender as opposed to a foundation brush?
    Also, what if you’re using powder contour (ex the KVD contour kit), then wouldn’t that be better to apply after foundation?

    • @NinaUbhi1
      @NinaUbhi1  2 года назад

      I personally prefer the finish a beauty blender gives however if you prefer a brush then you can use that too - I prefer to show you why I use what I do and how to use those products. If you find a powder contour gives you the same seamless finish then you can use that if you like :)

    You know that since I’m new to the whole contouring thing. I was sometimes putting it on top and I have to say I need to look at how on top or beneath. Looks like.

    I love the concealer idea for the contour. How would you determine which shade to go? Is there a guideline to follow? Love to try this technique :)

    • @NinaUbhi1
      @NinaUbhi1  2 года назад

      Glad you like it :) I'd go for a darker shade that compliments your skin tone, for example if you have warmer skin like me then a warmer darker concealer looks much better than a greyish concealer. Go for a darker concealer that is within your undertone category.

    I tried this... and I had to trust the process cuz it looked like a hot mess at first 😂 but it turned out really good in the end. Definitely doing it this way from now on. Only thing that looks weird on me is adding concealer around nose... I dont think i like it but the rest is 👍👍👍

    I am still experimenting with where the contours should be. Whether I do it on or under the foundation depends on the foundation used. Skin tints work best with contours u der them.
