Thanks for these tips. I have small eyes that are trying to disappear beneath loose, wrinkly skin, and I don't like struggling with trying to make my eyes show up but not be overpowered by eye shadow. You showed me that I might be happier with using just eyeliner. I'm certainly going to give it a try.
My God Gemma, reached the age of 62 having never worn eyeliner, guess what I’ll be buying tomorrow morning and trying out. The simplest of things shown in a such a professional way, how can I go wrong with that. Loving all your content, if something doesn’t reach your standards it probably won’t meet mine. Love to Mum xxxx
I had never seen the push into your lashes done or explained before! This really does make your lashes look full. I have been tight lining for years with no problems but your explanation was right on. Thanks 😊
I just watched your video about Samantha, I’m so heart broken for her. I can’t even see a picture of her without wanting to cry for her. I’ve been following her for a few years now and I can honestly say she is one of the sweetest, most compassionate and genuinely loving lady. The beauty community on RUclips can be quite negative and honestly as a person from the US I see that most of the negativity comes from my own country. This is why I have chosen to follow so many beauty gurus in the U.K., you ladies are so positive, loving, supportive of each other, it’s amazing to watch and be a part of the US could definitely learn from you all. When I seen the clip of your video on her I wanted to immediately cry because you are setting the example of what we as human being should be doing, supporting and loving each other. I’m beyond blessed to have found you and feel blessed to be a part of the positive side of the beauty community that lifts each other up and genuinely loves each other. You are an amazing person and I’m grateful to be following such a genuinely amazing human being! 💜💜💜💜
I'd love for you to do a faves and fails eyeliner video :) - some are so much better/worse than others and sometimes you can spend a lot of $ for something that is just terrible. Thank you for another great video though Jenna! Always so appreciate your advice and hard work to put these videos up for us!
I love that you gave tips on pencil eyeliners rather than liquid. I am going to try the dabbing under the lashes because I have no lid space but VERY light lashes, so it's always a struggle. Thank you Gemma! I'm glad you had a great birthday (judging by Instagram!)
That was perfect and so interesting to see the difference between the tight line, which is what I do and yes often poke myself in the eye, and the top lash liner. Will watch this again and try the top lash version. Winged liners - just can't do 'em but you have given me hope that maybe I can after all. Hope you had the best weekend. xx
Oh thank goodness tightlining yes I poke my eye out regularly! I gave up doing over eye I have a fine tremor so some days are fine but most days not good ! And very watery ! I am ok with lower waterline I can get my pencil to set before the waterfall starts and yes it stays on ! It’s mascara tends to smudge even waterproof ! My tremor ! Thank you Gemma appreciated liz x
I'm new to your channel. Love it! Such good tips and advice. I will keep watching! This tutorial is brilliant because this is a trouble area for me! P.S. Love your mom!
Lovely turorial!! I loved it, eyeliner its tricky for me because of hooded eyes, I loved your right eye, my left. I like the trick of putting eyeliner by pressing on the lash line. I think it would help w/ my hooded eyes and small lids. Thanks Gemma, love your makeup turorials!!! 💖
This video was so helpful, tight lining was a complete mystery to me, I am ok at doing the water line, but having mega sensitive eyes its a bit of a gamble. Hence your tutorial was ace, the tip about where to position the mirror was something I hadn't thought of (der) but has made it so much easier. Thank you again Gemma for all your helpful tips. You are a star! 😊
Thank you SO Much for your well researched sunscreen video! I've struggled with most all of them pilling or causing redness and irritation. I bought Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen Tinted Face Mineral SPF 50 that you recommended and I love it. Only $8.99 on Amazon in US. So smooth, and sits beautifully and invisibly under makeup. A lifesaver!
Fantastic stuff! I’ve been doing it wrong, so will now sit down with my mirror on the table, no more poking the eyes for me 😂👍🏻 Thank you, such a great demo x
As always thank you, thank you❤️. I have been tightlining for a very long time and I might add poking myself in the eye for a very long time!!!! My eyeballs👁 say thanks for the mirror trick!!! Love you 😍
Absolutely stunning 😊 looks - and with such clear technique demos and instructions, absolutely attainable, as well! Can't wait to try them! Surprised that the "smoky shadow" look that I have admired on you is actually smudged liner 😀 Had to laugh at conclusion when you had "two different eyes" - that is exactly when I would get a distracting phone call, then rush out of the house, forgetting about needing to equalise the eyes lol Cheers, Gemma - and you don't look a year older! 🌹🌹 💚🐦💚johanna xxx
Gemma......Happy Belated Birthday!! 🥂🎉 I love to line my upper outer water line and have the hardest time finding something that lays down nicely that has NO glitter... I like a very dark brown and have not had luck finding one that easily applies since my drugstore one was discontinued.. MAC, nope... doesn't apply easily to waterlines ..... so? I hunt
yippee skipee...thank you for this one....i grew up with maybelline in a tiny red box that you had to get wet and then apply.....i have horrible allergies living in los angeles so i'm always looking for water proof and something that won't irritate my eyes
Great tips and tricks thank you so much. I could never tight line no matter what I tried until now!! Your tip with the mirror and pinky was exactly what I needed and I can now tight line, slowly, but i did it!!!! Unfortunately my eyes do there job to well and do not like anything near them at all so my tears washed it all away,so I'm going to see if next time my eyes will be okay with doing the liner in between the lashes.
Eyeline selection is critical! The pencil has to be soft enough or the color just doesnt go on. I have had a hard time trying to find the right pencil.
All your videos are great, but this one is especially useful to me! I echo what Anne-Marie Goose says below - wish I'd had tutorials like yours when I was younger. I'm 66 and loving using makeup again. I have one eye that is more hooded than the other. Tip for that?
Ignore the hood Cindy and just apply one colour with open eyes. Concentrate on the overall eye and socket and disregard the lid and crease as these will be in different places. Using a matte shade is always better for hooded eyes. I'll try and do a video the technique xxx
I've got my technique sorted, just struggle to find a liner that stays. Most seem to move on to my bottom waterline then down my face! Currently using Avon gel liner which has been the only one that stays put for a while...
Revlon So Fierce is a soft gel liner that sets down in minutes. It goes on smooth and buttery but I have to remember to smudge it right away or it sets the way I applied it. :D
Wonderfully informative, and you are completely lovely! Do please tell me, what is the brand and color that is on your nails? They are so feminine & classically elegant!
wow Ive learnt so much, Ive never even heard of tight lining (embarrassed, lol). I can do my waterline but I find that after a bit some of it ends up on my eye ball (not a good look), do you have any tips on how I can stop it doing that?
Hi Jackie, different people have different PH Levels and therefore different liners react differently on different people. Try Wunder 2 or Urban Decay Liners xxx
Hi there, my dear Gemma 💜! Here I am again and... After all this time, I still can *not* do a decent eyeline to save my *life* ... Let me watch this video a good thousand times and see if I can learn how to do it by osmosis ir something 😄😄 *EDIT* to do the outer corner of eyes is _the_ impossible to me, the cat eye is my make up unicorn 😜
I love your tips and "how tos," Gemma. I have a problem with weepy eyes, so I have the hardest time keeping any eyeliner on the outer edge of my bottom lashes. They look fine when I leave home, but within just a couple of hours I've got either a drippy edge under my eye or the eyeliner is just gone from that outer edge. It looks ridiculous. Any miracle ideas?
Hello! new subscriber, I have been doing my eye's like this for years don't know why. Should I put less around the outside of my eye's since I am older or can I keep it the same? I have been getting long forgotten ideas by watching you putting on makeup. Thank you for sharing☕️

I have given up on eyeliner, I i don't know if its cause I have very little vision (I'm partially sighted) and i can't do it right no matter how much i try.
Have you tried using a dark powder eyeshadow? Use a small, flat brush and just draw a soft line of a dark shade like charcoal or deep espresso brown. It already looks smudged for a softer smokey look without having to deal with the precision of a pencil. :)
@@tatianafraserA You're welcome! My eyes aren't what they used to be, I use a 10X magnifying mirror but I know I'll have to go stronger to see what I'm doing. I also have very sensitive eyes so I'll never put anything in my water line or tight line. Just watching it made my eyes water. :-/

Brilliant tutorial..so we'll explained! I love every technique you demonstrated. I like to smudge the top liner and only line just the outer quarter of my lower lashes as well. It lifts and separates the eyes. Hmmm. That sounds like a bra commercial. 😉
I’m yet to find an eyeliner that doesn’t transfer to my lower waterline when I tightline the upper lid which is a pain in the 🍑 because having a dark liner on my lower waterline gives me little 🐷y looking eyes 😂 I’d LOVE to find a dark brown for everyday that doesn’t transfer, any suggestions? xx
