  • Grow Morning Glory Cuttings - 2 EASY Methods
    You can grow morning glory cuttings both by placing them in water or directly in soil - I had great success with both methods. Most morning glory flowers open into full bloom in the early morning and prefer lots of sunlight throughout the day. Some morning glories, such as Ipomoea muricata, Ipomoea alba, and Ipomoea macrorhiza, are night-blooming flowers.

      Thanks for your support. Note that morning glory are self-seeding aggressive vines that can smother nearby plants. I suggest you grow them separately on a fence or trellis😊

      Sorry to hear. They are easy to grow from cuttings and from seeds - I made videos about both. I have playlists of plants I grew from cuttings and from seeds if you are interested to check out.

      NP. Note - morning glory can be very fast, aggressive growers, and are also self-seeding!

    I loved when you said you don’t push products! Haha, no kidding. I like you already.
    Question: do you find your MG’s bloom less when you fertilize? I find mine stop blooming when I feed too much.
    Also, how long does it take them to bloom when grown from seed? I once grew a Heavenly Blue from seed under a 400 watt metal halide light and the thing started blooming within 30 days of the seed germinating! I don’t know if it was a fluke thing or what…. Because all over the Internet, it seems to say they take 90 days, but that was not the case for me. I’m actually trying again right now…seed germinated two days ago. We shall see how it goes.
    Thanks for letting me know that the cuttings will root in water… That’s why I’m here. Very cool.

      "MG’s bloom less when you fertilize?" Not sure - I didn't notice one way or the other. "how long does it take them to bloom when grown from seed?" Hard to say as every garden is unique, but as a general rule, in the 2-4 months range. Btw, note that morning glory are self-seeding and can be *extremely* aggressive, smothering vines. 😊😮

    Hey, if I'm growing this to grow on my fence, is it better to plant them in a pot or on the soil?

    • @LuckyDogTraveler
      @LuckyDogTraveler  2 дня назад

      I had best results planting them directly in the soil

    Did you use rooting powder? I tried this with some clippings but they never rooted. I’m trying to figure out where I went wrong. Do I change the water and do they require direct sunlight?

    • @LuckyDogTraveler
      @LuckyDogTraveler  6 месяцев назад +3

      Hey dude. I did not use rooting powder. Not sure why your cuttings did not root. Unless the water gets moldy you don't need to change it. I had the cuttings in indirect light. Maybe they just need a bit more time...?

      @@LuckyDogTraveler thank you for your response. I’m going to try again. After watching your video again I think maybe I didn’t cut enough leaves off and had the stems too long.

    Good question should the bottom of each stem vine be shaved couple inches to promote the growth of roots?

    • @LuckyDogTraveler
      @LuckyDogTraveler  6 месяцев назад +2

      No, I didn't shave the bottom of the stem cuttings. They grew really well both in soil and in water😊

      @@LuckyDogTraveler ok that's good to hear, I just sniped 20 or more cuttingings put them in 3 different plastic jugs of water I hope they take so I can save some money having to buy more at the nursery, I am also waiting on the black eyed Susan thumbergia vines to arrive at home Depot & Lowe's I want to mix them in with my morning glories it will give nice appearance & a privacy fence is what I am trying to accomplish with planting all the vines, I already have the front two sides covered thickly with black eyed Susan vines on my 5' chain link fencing came out very well took two years to get all the coverage but looks great, thanks for the posting of the video got me motivated to go outside after watching it to start my own morning glories with all the cuttings👍

      It sounds like you have your privacy wall pretty well covered (ha ha 😂), but another very aggressive and fast grower is Coral vine (Antigonon leptopus). The pink flowers last much of the year and are quite striking. Like morning glory, it should be grown on a trellis or fence to avoid smothering nearby plants. m.ruclips.net/video/zLk7F_bbQ34/видео.html
