What a change in 70 yrs. Having a mink coat was sure a status symbol in the by-gone days. Now no one will touch them. This is straight up HWY 99, way before I-5. We lived in Fresno, and the in-laws lived in Orange County, so we were up & down the HWY 99 many times and we always stopped at Gorman for a break. A good movie. We have since moved out of CA.
When I was a kid I watched this movie with my Mom. We got a good laugh at Sid Melton asking for his first try with a gun. After that every time we saw him we always called him " First Gun". It was years before I actually knew his name 😂
The Ridge Route! how cool is this ole flick.... A few years ago what is left of the Old Ridge Route we explored and it was really fun. Loved Palmdale was in the storyline. Lived there for 30 years before it turned for the worst which is sadly the present state.
"Jock".... Ow dear yes, Dallas... Booze slurping millionaires who had nothing else to do apparntly than to make each other's life as miserable as possible.... Gosh, we low class folks loved it, it's like today's Real Crime Series in which preferably the super rich in "upscale neighbourhoods" get slaughtered, poisoned, cut into jigsaw pieces by another rich greedy person... Sometimes I wonder if these things aren't showed with so much fanfare to keep the low and middle incomes calm, the old "crime doesn't pay and the super rich aren't as happy as you think" approach
Great Old Movie, Hijack Trucking Still Happening Today. Jim Davis always is a great Cowboy In Western Movies. Proved Himself Again In A Non Western Movie. He almost always played a Good Character in movies.
Lol, I know he's there for the lighthearted comic effect, he's just so annoying. He was in some movie where the lead is a bad guy who gets out of prison and ends up killing his dad while trying to rob him...Western Pacific Agent! Morris Carnovsky plays the dad. Sid had a great career!
You would think that all drivers would be informed about the crime wave. Very frustrating to watch. I would suspicious of any road change or event. But I guess It wouldn't make a good movie.
Sid Melton....the consummate schlub (look it up yourself) ! Iris Adrian.... died from complications from a hip injury sustained during the 1994 Northridge earthquake eight months earlier.....shall I go on?
Not a bad little crime / noir.....Sid Melton spoilt it ....he detracts from everything he appears I....three episodes of the great series , Gomer Pyle USMC were marred by his presence .

All right RUclips says my comments should always be respectful, but first of all you really need to learn how to upload a movie correctly you plaster your suggestion of a movie while the movie is still playing at the end with the characters credits. If people want to watch other movies they can look in your playlist you don't have to ruin a movie especially if you are a person that plays these older movies in the highest standards you're not the only person that does this there's a lot of people here on RUclips that don't know how to correctly upload movies
Sid Melton is so unnecessary and annoying in almost any movie. I was tempted to bail on this one because of that. Over all the years, I can't recall ever laughing at Sid Melton.
For future reference, don't watch an old film expecting modern politically correct and Woke humour, it might've given you a bit of a clue it being 1950's!
@@billsmith9711 Seems like he wasn't quite as obnoxious as "Icky" Mudd ("with two D's") in the 50's kiddie TV series "Captain Midnight"/"Jet Jackson" with Richard Webb.
@@billsmith9711 You're too young (how often do you hear that these days?). You could even get a Secret Decoder ring if you mailed in twenty-five cents in coin. The syndicated TV series ran from 1954-1956.

Parents had big parties years ago. The beds would be covered with perfumed for coats !
Another Lippert production. Thanks for keeping these second-half-of-a-double-feature flics up and running.
Lots more on the way!

Most of the small towns where these movies were filmed or partially filmed like Palmdale are now slums.
@@marilaucher9989 Sadly true.
The lead actor is the guy who played "Jock Ewing" on the show "Dallas" back in the 80s.
He was a ringer for Tom Berenger
On Dallas from 1978-81 when he died.

Released July 7th, 1950 thanks for uploading
very realistic film, the old trucks were very cool. 🎥🎥👍
5:41 Don't stop Jack, we might get involved in a Lippert picture.
Great Old Movie, Hijack Trucking Still Happening Today.
Jim Davis always is a great Cowboy In Western Movies.
Proved Himself Again In A Non Western Movie.
He almost always played a Good Character in movies.
Don't forget Myron Healy also great in westerns both film and TV
It's a gem of a movie. Thank you.
❤I enjoyed this great move... congrats to Jim for a job well done..
What a film❤Thank for uploading ❤
Gorman is still a must stop on the SF to LA run. Much different of course.
After the fur fashion TV show, a plug for license plate manufacturing at the state prison. Hilarious 😆
"Excuse Me Honey, The Man who Came to Dinner."
Ha! That's a good one :)
Jim Davis ( Jock Ewing ) was a great actor. Too bad he was an avid smoker. He must have smoked 500 cigarettes during this movie.
It never stunted his growth though!
@@TimmysFavs How do you know, he could have been 6 foot 5, instead of 6 foot 1.
Nice but dangerous parts were involved, N very nice ending!
Great old movie and thank you!!😊
You're welcome!
Takes a while to trace a phone but he hung up fast, police show up minutes later and assume he's the good guy among all the dead.
Bud commercial now with the horses. Auggie would never have let this get so far
Very enjoyable movie, recommended
Good movie. Nice to see the bad guys get what's coming to them.
Gorman CA...halfway point from Stockton to Los Angeles CA....Palmdale...omg...highway 99
Wonderful Tale!
If only Mr and Mrs Douglas knew about Ralf Monroe's shady past.
What producer ever thought it would add to the content value with a sid Melton appearance
Lippert’s wife family forced him to hire their “out of his luck” cousin.
I doubt Lippert ever thought about content value.

I bet even Sid Melton's mother couldn't take a word he said seriously. Hey Alf, where's Ralph?

Nice movie👍
No mudflaps , no Jane Mansfield Bumper, no interstate, smoking was healthy, pre CB yes those were the days.
The highest credit( #3) Sid Melton ever got.
McDonald's has replaced the cafe in Gorman.
You can post that again....with "Indoor Smoking Allowed" and the aabbreviation then bfor CALIFORNIA was "CALIF." I stand corrected though!!!
Sad
I stopped often at the next N bound exit from Gorman, the Flying J in Lebec as a former trucker
Awesome!
Tom Berenger’s first movie playing Joe
Great Movie, love it. Ron PTL USA
The narrator at the beginning sounds like William Conrad.
I thought maybe it was Harry Morgan.
Good gods, I must be desperate to watch these old pot boilers.
Oh no yet another Lippert Production.
Sprocket Vault- you have the actress' name wrong in the title. It's "Marsha Jones" in the film credits.
Thank you for letting us know. I made the change. Best wishes, and thanks for watching. Kit
Jock Ewing once had a side business as a trucker?
Yes! A Dan Matthews roadblock!,,
Hey, That's my name.
Tell Sanford that once you’re in, you can only get out one way. Morgue job. Meat wagon
Simple but effective.
Sid bought the farm. 😅

I think I saw Joe Biden driving a truck 🚚.
They don’t like it up dere when u say Frisco.
They say you jawjacking about some east Texas cotton chopper trailer trash town
passable pacy predictable plot
It's more about seeing the fashions and life in 1950, the cars, trucks, buses, analog TV, rotary dial phones, architecture, restaurants . . . .
