It will put the password for ALL PCs,because BitLocker is writing a code in Your USB for password.

How do I do this if both of my computers are running Windows 10? There is not "Turn on BitLocker" option.
You should have Windows 10 Enterprise/Pro, doesnt work with home (Nice om een Nederlander hier te zien btw =D)

Er zijn services online die je harde schijf encrypten, maar die zijn niet van Windows zelf. Ik zelf zou die niet vertrouwen. Het beste is gewoon een licentie van Windows kopen of 1tje jatten van internet als je goed zoekt :)

the problem is anybody can format the usb stick which is also not appreciated , there should be a format security too.
If they format it then they just erase all your data anyways, either way your data doesn’t get released

@Marienne right clicking the drive then selecting eject is the easiest way
And you should do that! I ve never done that myself until my usb port broke. There is a small current on it which you disable by ejecting it!
Just take the drive faster than the speed of light with no shame. Hehe...
My question is "What if someone first uninstall bitlocker from the system" to open usb ? will it work?
then the USB will still be encrypted and only the pc couldnt open it. but i m not so sure you can even deinstall it.

@@ted2091 That only stops the program on your pc. The USB pendrive will still need the password to be decrypted.
Say for example I locked my flash drive using my windows 10 PC and I later tried to use my drive on a computer running previous version of windows or (god forbid) an Apple device. Does the computer accessing the drive need any software to access the drive or is everything contained on the drive?Edit: During the setup it gives you the option of choosing compatibility mode which will work with older versions of windows. It didn't say anything about apple devices.
Legit good question, although i don’t know the answer. Maybe said Apple device running a windows emulator(forgot the name)

it's already installed on windows 10, but perhaps you can search for a download if you don't have windows 10
All this time I didn't know I could put an lock on these annoying flash drive, unless I brought those 30 40 dollars one that tells you to set up a lock, thanks for that the lesson.

This video was made when only Windows 7/8 was here. That OS had it for free.

If you use Bitlocker to lock will you be able to open on any computer or only ones with Bitlocker
What about if the USB drive is a bootable Windows 11 drive???

Not only is it unavailable on 11 Home, but it's also hackable as seen on RUclips. I need a encrypted password on the drive itself that will ask for it whenever it's plugged in.

thank you for the great videos.. one question about how to stop the BitLocker because when I tried to stop there was a massage to stop the procedure because the archive in the usb may be lost. what the correct whey to stop the BitLocker so someone won't lose his fils ?

This video shows you that you don't need any 100% free to download softwares to do it ;) Recommended to use this simple method
Only works on W10 PRO, not on HOME. So, not a simple method for most people.

After you set up your password on the flash drive, can the flash drive be accessed on any other PC that you plug it into?

Home version do not have bitlock, but as far as I know you can download it via microsoft store or maybe other websites?
How do you go about taking the lock off when you don't need it?
I was looking for a way to let someone access the files (Play Videos and watch text) without using a password but they could not alter the contents.

I have several utility repair programs that my virus program thinks they are a virus. If I password protect my thumb drive will it keep my virus program from going onto it and disable .exe files that it thinks are a virus?
I like the SD cards since they have a sliding lock/unlock to keep this from happening.
But we can format it without any password. can tell any software which can't be formatted with out the key which we have encrypted to that pen drive???

yeah it work... but now cant Disable USB Write Protection, I've tried , regedit, cmd, and local machine, none worked. people have to be aware when you set a password.
