    The primary advantage of a hardware encryption usb drive is that it can have brute force protection so you don’t have to memorize a 128-bit password. Instead just make a 6 digit pin where 5 failed attempts wipes the device.

    Trish,
    I've completed my part of the plan covering Europe. How do you want me to send it to you?

    So, I just use a standard USB stick. Say 16 GB or so. On it I have a 10 GB encrypted file container that I encrypted using VeraCrypt. In the other 6 GB I keep unencrypted files, but also I keep a portable version of VeraCrypt. Costs < $10 and I trust VeraCrypt's AES encryption with my own 20-40 character alphanumeric password INFINITELY MORE than I do a niche, novelty technology having little reputation to speak of, protected by a four digit PIN number on a dedicated "unhackable" chip, and at 10 times the cost.
    The only benefit these things have (and not all of them have the feature) is a complete self-destruct wipe of the drive after too many failed PIN attempts or at the entry of certain special PINs.

      why not use one of these with your method to be even more secure?

    • @leesweets4110
      @leesweets4110 Год назад

      @@cr7neymar908 Why?
      1) Too many layers of encryption reduces access speed,
      2) The price point of the device is unreasonably high.

      @@leesweets4110 if you really care about the privacy of the data, I will put it on something hardware encrypted as well to make it even more difficult for someone to access

    Is there a way to put a lock or passcode on a portable SanDisk extreme hard drive without having a computer?
    Cuz I don't have one. I let someone put a passcode on it from a Mac computer. But when I bought the portable hard drive back to my phone. My phone did not recognize the file. I would think it would be a way where I could do it straight for my phone. Where I don't have to use a computer just to store files to hide.

    Can this be used with a smart tv to watch private videos? or even a Roku box?

    • @kingston

      The only encrypted drive for those devices would be the IronKey Keypad 200. Once you unlock the IronKey with the pin you can connect it to the device it will be seen like a typical USB. Once you unplug it, it will lock once again. Just make sure you check with the product manufacturer for any file or format limitations.

      @Kingston Technology so the Kingston Data Traveler in you video is not appropriate?

    • @kingston
      @kingston  Год назад

      We unfortunately do not test compatibility with ROKU or similar devices. However you should be able to unlock the IronKey Keypad 200 with a pin prior to plugging it to the host device and it should be able to see the USB. Again, we do recommend that you check with the product manufacturer for any limitations. For any more questions, please get in touch with our support team: kings.tn/440JRPt

    why not just hide your private info in physical form? With everything today being digital, most people forget the real world exists. So, dig a hole and drop a cache... Just don't forget where you put it. Make sure there is no metal in the container so it can't be found by anyone who might be looking.

      Because transcribing all that data by hand is not feasible in most cases and printers aren’t very secure, generally speaking.

    Fix your video. You burned BitLocker unjustly by showing it "Red" error on encryption of the OS drive instead of an attached drive. Then you said it is supper easy for the follow on 2 examples. Not cool.
