Too much black smoke from my diesel engine when revved high. I used some diesel purge to clean the engine.
You should have added a filter on the fuel in line because all the dirt is going back into the injecter and can block them up.

Same sentiments for me. Injection pump calibration vs this cleaning.. this is much better since it also cleans the piston head from carbon deposits.
Hi, ended up following your instructions, the only difference I made was I added an in-line fuel filter to the return. Suprisingly. even though our 2006 R51 Pathfinder Diesel (same engine as yours) has over 200Km and the injectors have never been cleaned, there seemed to be very little gunk that came out on the return judging from the deposits on the filter and return fluid. Did help a little in my case with black smoke but couldnt really tell that there was any improvment in performance -- not that our car was underperforming to begin with. Think I will do this now every few years. Thanks again for the video.
Hello, that liquimoly product is very good, the manufacturer indicates that it can also be loaded directly into the filter, in each filter change service, and a personal recommendation is to install a FuelManager type pre-filter, to improve the quality of the diesel already that always brings impure and accumulates water, which is harmful to the injectors and the rail pressure valve, where the factory filter never removes all the water that may exist. Also the black smoke is generated by the sensor that goes in the air filter, which accumulates dust and must be cleaned in each service. greetings from Chile.

I found that my fortuner would smoke a little on acceleration if it hadn't been driven for a while. I found that after a long drive from Hua Hin to Bangkok and Back there was no smoke coming out of the exhaust. So take it for a long drive at highway speeds before you take it for the test

Some people seem to think they are genius but actually they are making simple things complicated. A a mechanic I could say Nissan vehicles are not mechanic friendly. There is too much engineering. The instruction for the liqui molly is just drop it to the fuel tank. I did it to my 4JJ1 Isuzu diesel engine and was effective as promised. With less than one fourth left in the fuel tank I poured the molly. It's been about a year and thinking of doing it again within a year or two.
You can add to the fuel, fill the filter or run as in the video. This method will work the best especially if injectors are clogged as its 100 percent fluid but is the most complicated. The 2nd best method is fill the new fuel filter, however some ends up in the return to the tank but this will run through just like adding to the tank.

I have an R51 Nissan Pathfinder which I believe uses the same engine as the navara and have been looking for a video on how to perform this cleaning procedure for the pathfinder so was really glad to come across your video. Just one question, I notice in other similar videos for other model cars, that people have pulled out the fuel pump fuse/relay but I noticed that you did not do this in your video, I am assuming that for the navara this was not neccessary to do otherwise you would have mentioned it in the video, is this correct? many thanks.
I'm assuming that before you had taken your car to be tested the first time, that you'd serviced it and had changed the fuel and air filters as both have a direct impact on emissions?

Yes quite popular. Haven’t owned a hilux before so cannot say.

It did by about 30% allowing my pickup to pass emissions
@@btfdx wow, it actually works as described. I did it ur way in the glass jar which was very easy as you could see how much was left. It idles much better now, about 200 rpm less than before!

Make sure your air filter is clean/replaced, as that can cause "black smoke" to, if clogged....

If you simply add it to the filter canister when you do a filter change will do wonders over time. Its a great product
@@v1nce732 Most just goes back to the tank in the return so unless you are changing the filter anyway might as well just put in the tank.

Hello, why the fuel filter is not spitting fuel from the fuel pump? Do you have the fuel pomp inside or outside the tank?

I believe this purge liquid is pour on diesel tank and refill diesel with full tank. While u driving, its slowly will clean the injector itself. If u direct do this, its will destroy the nozzle because the mixture contains too high.
Product's instructions are clear, put in the diesel tank for maintenance and use as shown in the video if there is a problem.
That is a different product. This one in the video is used this way
@@btfdx you're right I have used both. Liqui Moly "Clean and boost" as a preventative and have used "diesel purge" by filling my fuel filter when replacing it. Side note this is much cheaper in Australia about AU$21 or about 450 baht, surprising since it comes from Germany anyway.
Can't you just fill a fresh filter?
@@philtowle4683 do you mean with diesel or with this product? Normally I'd fill with diesel but I have used this to give the injectors a good clean.
