I know you have the recipes in the drop-down box which I absolutely love don't have to go looking all over the place trying to find them. But it would have been nice if you would have talked about the ingredients that was going into each jar so we could be on top of what the recipe is for that particular jar. And yes I would love to see more of these videos. Thank you for making this one.😊
How a out using mushroom powder in the rice and mushroom soup, all seems easy and yummy too. Good job and ideas. Thanks for the share. God bless and merry Christmas 🎁🎄
Mushroom powder would perfect for someone who didn't like the texture of rehydrated mushrooms...great idea! Thank you for sharing that, and Merry Christmas to you my dear friend!
If your wanting clear pretty layers I would recommend placing the powders and smaller flaking spices in the jar first so they are on the bottom of the jar. Great soup ideas❤
I love learning about your recipes! You are so creative with your presentations! I found you in RUclips about 2 or 3 years ago while looking for Daniel Fast recipes.
More more please! haha. I've never even considered such a thing....what an awesome idea. I did not know that you could dehydrate meat wow. Thanks for all the info :D
You are absolutely fabulous. What stores do you usually do your grocery shopping at? Do you stock up on water? Can you possibly do some in store grocery shopping videos? I think it would be awesome if you could show how you do your full shopping trip
I shop at Walmart, and The Grocery Outlet..lol Nothing fancy. I have some shopping videos in the Daniel Fast playlist. I live next to a river, so Im not concerned for water storage.
Instead of buying expensive cans of beans from the store, try cooking your dry beans and then dehydrate them. These "instant" beans can then be added to any dry soup mix and will basically be ready at the same time as any other vegetables in the pot.
Thanks for the ideas! I’m going to try making up a few of these. I’m thinking that rather than the ground beef I might try some TVP (textured vegetable protein) to make it more affordable… round here ground beef isn’t cheap. It would also make it vegetarian I suppose if that’s a concern.
@@annaleedaughterofyhwh7767 That is where I saw how to do this. I use a dehydrator and my bean do crack open more than I like. Lots of skins when I rehydrate.
Thank you so much...These recipes will last 2-3 years, (some people say up to 5 years) if stored properly. I suggest adding an oxygen absorber, or vacuum sealing the jars. Thats going to help you get the most time on the shelf.
You can dehydrate store bought fruits, vegetables and meats in your oven. The beans I use are canned beans from the store ( they are precooked so will rehydrate faster when I make my soup) make sure your oven is on a low temp and expect to have your foods in it for many hours. You can buy pre dehydrated foods at the grocery store also. Many times it’s in the produce department or the bulk canned foods.
It is much more economical to vacuum seal the meals instead of mason jars and lids. First, put the mix in a small lunch bag (Cheap at supermarkets, get lots). Roll it up and put a piece of paper tape, scotch tape, whatever to keep it from unrolling. The reason for the bag is to protect your vacuum sealer from small particles from the soup mix that might damage the unit. This also works for beans, rice, flour, sugar, wheat berries and other powder like stuff. Place bag package in vacuum bag and vacuum seal. I use 8" wide rolls from Ebay. A 2 cup bag will fit snugly in the 8"wide bag.
We live on The river so I save the vacuum bags for fish...we also smoke our own cheese, and I vacuum seal it. I do like your idea...I might have to try this. Thank you for sharing.
So it’s ok to add your own dehydrated ground beef to the jar soup mixes with no problems? I was always curious about that😏 Thanks for the great video and wonderful sounding recipes. Now if I can only figure out how to print them all🤪
@Linda Jimmerson, yes you can add your own dehydrated ground beef so long as you dehydrate it correctly. I have a video on how to do that. Thank you so much for watching, have a great day, and happy new year!
Hi, love your videos😊. Quick question, how many servings are in one jar? I will be separating them into single serve mylar and I want to make sure I'm splitting them up correctly. PATY
Off the top of my head I couldn’t tell you. I do have the recipes typed out for you on the description box. The recipes show many cups of water to add.. you can calculate how many servings by how many cups you would consider a serving. ❤️ Have a blessed day my friend.
Best use of dehydrated food I've seen on RUclips so far!! I'm brand new to dehydrating . I just bought a NESCO, it's still in the box. How long does the sealed jars of soup last?
Great video, would love to know more about the different additives you put in the different soups like the powdered mazola oil, and where would you buy that. Know a little about dehydrated food. But no way as much as you. Been savi g up to get a hydrator.
The mazola is chicken broth. I buy mine in the Mexican section at the grocery store. Its the best chicken flavored broth, and you get a lot for a really good price. I thinks around $5.00 for that big container. I have the full list of ingredients to each soup in the description box. Just click on "show more", and it will show you each recipe so you can cope them for yourself.
Loved all the meals in the jars. I did not see the cheese amount in the scalloped potatoes. I did see you put the cheese packet in but if I don’t have that what amount of dehydrated cheese would I use? Thank you
I love making meals in a jar! I have collected dozens of recipes for them. Every other site I have visited says that you need to use up dehydrated meats quickly, or put it in the freezer. Or, they say to add the meat when you cook the meal, or do what I do, which is just put one of my pressure canned jars of meat with it. They don't recommend dehydrated meats for the jar meals. If you use freeze-dried meats, they say they will last longer, but they are very expensive. I ended up buying some on sale, but it was not budget friendly at all, LOL. Do you use your jar meals up quickly? People need to check into storing dehydrated meat for long periods. It would be a shame for the whole jar of food to waste, because the meat went bad. How long have you had that dehydrated meat last? I am anxious to hear your experience with this. Thanks! :)
I haven’t ever had a problem with the hamburger.. maybe because I use a organic grass fed, super low fat hamburger? I make sure and rinse it extremely well too. I use my soups within a year generally, but have used it up to two years after making it. I’ve just ordered a freeze dryer and think this will be a better long term food storage solution. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Have a blessed day my friend. ❤️
@@TinaGolik Thanks! I got a freeze dryer a few months ago, and I think that it will pay for itself, considering how expensive the freeze dried meats are that you can buy. Good luck with yours, and God bless you! :)

Thanks so much for showing these meals in a jar. Nice variety. Hope you have more to come. Did you dehydrate the beans in taco soup or can they be purchased. Also the lentils and barley quick cooked version and dehydrated?
I had said in the video about the beans. They are canned chili beans in a sauce. I dehydrated those in their sauce. Dry beans would take to long to cook after adding the water, but precooked beans from a can that have been dehydrated will cook really fast. The lentils and barley are both quick cook versions yes. I do have more soup in a jar recipes and will likely share them too. :)
It’s an oxygen absorber. They are also called dry packs. They help not only keep your food dry in a jar, but also keeps it sealed. They pull all the oxygen out of the jar and it seals your lid. I also vacuum pack my jars for extra security. 😊
Do you precook or blanch your veggies? Mine used to come out brown (Especially the potatoes), until I learned I needed to precook..now they come out beautiful. Maybe Ill do a video on this soon..although there are many recipes here on RUclips.

Hi, I just found your channel and subscribed. Quick question.. With your Scalloped Potatoes recipe I didn't see powdered cheese or a measurement on the recipe you posted. Can you post what the amount should be, I'm excited to try these meals in a jar. Thank you so much!!
Thanks for sharing this information. I'm a single household so I would need to make these much smaller. Where can I find how many servings are in the quarts so I can divide it down. If the jars aren't vacuum sealed, how long are they shelf stable and if they aren't vacuum sealed would recycling plastic jars work? (I'm trying to make ends meet on social security of just over $1000 a month).
These recipes make between 7- 12 cups of soup. I’ve listed all the recipes in the description box and you can see how much water is added when heating it up. You can use oxygen absorbers if you can’t seal your jars with a vacuum packer. I also had seen a video for how to seal a jar with a bike pump?, or something like that. I think the video was on the prepsteaders RUclips channel. If not you can probably type it into the search bar and it will pop up. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful day!
Yes absolutely ! I’ve gotten a freeze dryer since I made this video and only use freeze dried ing. Now. The only thing I dehydrate is cinnamon sugar apple slices. My husband prefers them a bit chewy verses the crunch from the freeze dryer. Plus using freeze dried options gives a wider range of ingredients that can be used.
I was looking for a recipe for vegetable soup and found this video - thanks! However, there are many ingredients in the video that were added but are missing from the ingredients for vegetable soup in the description area. Quick barley, celery. thyme, what looked like parsley and something else (label was covered up) just before you added the cheese powder. None of these are in the listed in the ingredients for vegetable soup. Can you list the measurements for these? Thank you.
I promise I've listed everything in the description box for each soup...It might have looked different because of how I filmed? Plus I do have another video with more soup in a jar recipes if your interested.
@@TinaGolik Thanks - I'll look for that video with more recipes! I was following the ingredients list in the recipe and matching with the video. For example, at 2:45 you are holding a jar of what looks like Thyme, but it isn't listed in the ingredients. 2:58 shows a jar of what looks like parsley. 3:05 - unknown. 3:33 Quick barley. 3:48 Celery. If I'm wrong and they are listed, I'd like to know if I'm going batty. :-) Also, the ingredient list for the Beef and Barley soup says 2 pounds of hamburger (which I noticed your jar was labeled 2 pounds), but what is the measurement for that? (I don't package my dried foods necessarily to what it was raw.) Thanks!
Yes they can be stored in plastic if its for only a few months. If you want to store them for a year, or more, then its best to store them in a glass jar. If you put an oxygen absorber in with them, they will last longer.
So if I make these and line my cabinets with them, about how long do you think I can safely eat them without any problems? If I put an oxygen absorber in there, would it be the same as any other dehydrated food? Like five years?

If I'm wrong and they are listed, I'd like to know if I'm going batty. :-)
Also, the ingredient list for the Beef and Barley soup says 2 pounds of hamburger (which I noticed your jar was labeled 2 pounds), but what is the measurement for that? (I don't package my dried foods necessarily to what it was raw.) Thanks!
In the potato soup mix, Can I put the mix together and just use fresh potatoes instead of the dehydrated ones?
Oh do you know if the dried potatoes can be storaged into plastic containers?
Yes they can be stored in plastic if its for only a few months. If you want to store them for a year, or more, then its best to store them in a glass jar. If you put an oxygen absorber in with them, they will last longer.
Would these soups in a jar last longer/stay fresher if you vacuum pack the jar once it is filled?
1/2 cup of Parsley in the Scallop Potatoes, Is that right? I just fixed it and it turned green before baking it.
This is the amount we like because we grow fresh parsley, then dehydrate it. Maybe cut the amount in half if its to much for you. :)
Do you have an enchilada dry soup mix?
Could these also be stored in a vacuum-sealed bag? Jars are very expensive where I live. I also don't have space to store them.
Yes you can put them in bags but they won’t have the pretty layers. Enjoy!
Tina was that powdered mazola oil? I did not know they made that.
willothewispl, that was the brand name. Its a chicken bouillon found in the Mexican food section of the grocery store.
Just to clarify, are you using dehydrated or freeze dried ingredients. How do you dehydrate some of these ingredients?
Do you have a video on dehydration your red beans ?
No I don’t but I can make one if you’d like. ❤️
Oh yes please, please , Thank you
I am watching your soups in a jar now , love them , more soup in a jar if you got time, ❤️
@@carolhinson8779 I recently shared another soup in a jar video. ❤️
❓ Is the barley cooked and then dehydrated?
How many servings does each jar hold? And is there a conversion for that calculation?
So if I make these and line my cabinets with them, about how long do you think I can safely eat them without any problems? If I put an oxygen absorber in there, would it be the same as any other dehydrated food? Like five years?
Yes I either add an oxygen absorber, or vacuum seal the jar. Yes they will last as long as the average dehydrated food.
So you can dehydrate ground meat?
