I made homemade gifts one year and people laughed at my gifts and called me cheap. Family, friends, co-workers hated them. I never did it again. I thought everything was well done , thoughtful and a lovely idea. Unfortunately no one else thought so. I haven't given any gifts at all since then. Not a one. Now they get nothing. Love your ideas though. Very creative 👌
Nothing is worse than putting thought and time into a gift and no one appreciates it! I've held off on spoiling people lately bc I don't think people realize how much I struggle to buy gifts for everyone and they end up being rude
MC, your story made me sad, mostly for people you tried to give the most special 🎁 to - ☆Your time, talent & ❤. I LOVE those gifts the most & wish I had a friend who put your type of "extra touch" in a gift. ♡They say "Find your Tribe - Find your Vibe" .... I turn 60 soon, so working towards that very goal. ☺About darn time !!
Thank you for your very kind words. I did put alot of thought and work into those gifts. I love homemade gifts, so I don't understand their reactions. It hurt me deeply. No more gifts for anyone( other than children) bought or otherwise. I don't care if I get anything from them. I don't need anything. My sister and cousin were the worse ones. And they are crafters ! That was years ago and I haven't lived it down. Again, thank you.💖💖💖
I totally understand how you felt. I made really nice sets for teachers and other mother's said, "the teachers deserve more than that!' They were giving $50 gift cards to restaurants etc. And that was 10 years ago. People have lost sight of what a gift is....a gift. Not everyone can afford the same amount. But when it comes from the heart and is thoughtful, it's the best to me!
After reading some of the comments, I find myself wondering what kind of person doesn't like a gift- the meaning behind it - or the thought that went into it. I have 9 brothers and sisters and we still make gifts for each other. I am 64 years old and still make gifts for them. No one in my family has ever said anything about the homemade gifts. I love to make them. You have given me some very good ideas for this year! Thank you!!!
I did the mini sewing kit for my daughters new boyfriend last year for Christmas (2021). I didn't know him well. My daughter said he had expressed recent interest in sewing so I went with the idea :) Jokes on me because he told her that as a joke and she believed him. He absolutely adored it and went crazy when he saw it. He was so impressed how I came up with such a sweet and unique gift. He actually does sew now and I'd like to think I inspired him :) He purposed in July and they are getting married next August (2023) 😍
@@ariesleorising9421 The sewing kit in a jar was a true hit for sure! I also gave him a letter board that read something cute (I cannot remember - but I will update when I find out. LOL) and I added hooks on the bottom for extra sewing items. I do not sew but after making it, I certainly wanted to.
There are only two 2 gifts that I have received in my life that I not only remember vividly but were my favourite gifts of all time. The first one was a wedding gift from my brothers that was a tote filled with all the things that a person would need to start out on your own. It contained things such as salt and pepper and salt and pepper shakers. Baking soda, baking powder, dish soap, washing machine detergent, a broom and ivory soap were just a few of the things in the tote. I took every single thing and wrote it on the card and it was a standard wedding card but it took two (2) columns to list what was in the tote. The second was one I had to beg for. I asked for this for years and everyone who saw it, was incredible jealous. I asked my mom to hand write her recipes in a book so I would have them for the rest of my life. For so many years, she said that it wasn’t really a gift. I knew it would take a long time to make it. Finally, one Christmas, I opened a gift bag with measuring cups and spoons and a coil book filled with my Mother’s recipes. I made one change. I took the recipes out of the book and put them into page protectors so they would not get dirty. Anyone who sticks their nose up at a homemade gift is not worth receiving that gift
This will be my second holiday season as a widow. I feel your pain. Wishing you an abundance of Peace, comfort and joy. You being on Earth is our gift. No $$ required or permitted ❄️☃️❄️☃️❄️
My daughter has A LOT of aunts and uncles and grandparents/great grandparents and instead of buying them gifts, we homemake gifts. We were funding out of ideas and now I have some new ideas for gifts. Thank you!
I love ANYTHING that is homemade alot better than bought .I was raised with no money and taught to be blessed with what ever you received from God .esp to get a live Christmas tree.
I made my family hand drawn/ painted cards and felt ornaments one year because I had nothing and they loved em. I barely ever let anyone in my direct family see my artwork just cuz I'm a bit shy so I think they just found it really special.
I love gifts in jars but they are much better if they are scratch ingredients. The layering is pretty and shows people that it is a scratch made treat that took some effort.
Wow, you just helped with the hardest to buy for…neighbors, PTA friends, book club members, teachers, the list goes on!! I am gonna start now, such great inspiration!!
I enjoy receiving a gift someone took the time to make. Makes me feel very special. Keep making gifts and ignore those who choose to be ungrateful and rude. They would not be pleased with anything they received even if someone bought their gift. Some just lose the meaning of Christmas. It is not how much one spends, but the time they gave to make something special.
These ideas are great to take a dozen of these jars to a women's shelter filled with a variety of useful items. The best Xmas video I have seen so far. Thank you! 🎄⛄💯
I'm going to make miniature dollhouse scenes in jars for gifts. Little christmas scenes with light up tree inside. Thanks for these ideas ! I love them all !
I've used the clear ball ornaments to do mini scenes. Just be sure to glue everything down well. One year I was able to get a case of the handled Mason jars for 25 cents each. I stuffed Costco cashews or jellybellies and decorated the outside Great for single people who would not want to buy such large size packets for themselves .one coworker kept hers on her desk so she could have a nibble whenever she wanted. And the jar is reusable as a mug afterwards. Thanks for all the great ideas and inspiration !
I absolutely loved all the wonderful ideas for inexpensive but very nice Christmas gifts. We live on a fixed income, but still like to something for our adult children and adult grandchildren and younger grandkids. Dollar Tree is going to be a total blessing this year with the price of everything going so very high. So thank you for this ideas.
I love that these ideas are so simple and cheap so you could easily afford to give these out for teachers neighbors and friends and spread some holiday cheer!
I think this is the first dollar store gift idea video that I actually loved all the ideas. Your ideas were very well thought out and looked so lovely when you added ribbon or string. These would make great "thinking of you" gifts or coworker birthday gifts. I saved this video so I can get a jump start on my Christmas crafting.
I love receiving stuff like this one year I got a little basket filled with the mason jar of hot chocolate cookie mix hat n gloves and a few hand made Christmas decorations and it's been probably 20 or more years since I got that and I loved it
Great ideas! I just wouldn’t leave it only halfway filled. For the pancakes and cookies, I’d put another level of something separated by wax paper. For the cookies, I’d add mn’m’s or sprinkles, for the pancakes I’d add chocolate chips.
Added fruit like dried blueberries or cranberries to the pancake mix. Another addition that is yummy is adding commercial cooked bacon bits to the pancake mix.
Hard to pick one favorite, I loved them all, but if I had to pick one favorite it's the baking idea ones , there's extra fun with children who love to help bake .
Oh my the bath salt one is so pretty! Especially if you make it in another container you can layer several different colors and maybe add crumbled bath bomb or little shaped soap piece to make themed bath confetti! Say mermaid theme maybe?
So thankful that you do this so early! I like to get my christmas crafts and gift buying out of the way early(before November if I can) so that i can just sit back and really enjoy the holidays stress free and be in the moment so you totally help me to do that! These are excellent ideas!!!

I love these ideas. I have a gift basket business and many of these will go great as gifts. I love the flower seed and bird idea. It gave me the idea of revamping the way I make magic reindeer food for my Christmas Santa boxes. I'm going to put the reindeer food mix in the jar with a reindeer glue to the top and make a sticker of the magic reindeer food poem in the front I think that would be beautiful. I'm also going to be doing the same thing with the sunflower seeds except put the red cardinal like you mentioned with the red cardinal poem in the front as well.
I REALLY LOVED ALL OF THE IDEAS! I CANT AFFORD GIFTS FOR ALL OF MY KIDS AND GRANDKIDS BUT, I CAN MAKE THEM ALL A LITTLE HOMEMADE GIFT FROM THIS VIDEO. THANKYOU FOR MAKING THE HOLIDAYS A LITTLE SWEETER!!!
*I have tons of crafting supplies from Michaels etc. Every year since the kids can't buy anyone gifts, they use the supplies to make homemade gifts. The gifts are actually REALLY good too. I will use some of these ideas with my left over candle jars. Great inspiration.*
I actually love all of these projects and I can't pick a favorite! These are wonderful gifts for a reasonable price and also fitting for many people. I love your bracelet today too!

Such a cute idea for gifts. May I success an idea on the pancake mix? How about adding some dried blueberries to your mix! It adds color and who doesn’t love blueberry pancakes in the morning? 😊
i do stuff like this for Christmas every year!!!! Always trying to find new things that won't break the bank. three years before I did candles and bath salts, 2 years ago I forgot what i did but it was with mason jars, and last year i did movie night buckets for each family! I got married so getting things for everyone is too much and me and my husband are not rich, but we try
Hello. I’m already impressed the pancakes Looks so good they’re making me hungry. I’m gonna go out and grab the ingredients for them later on this afternoon.
don't have Dollar Tree (or equivalent) down under but what we DO have are variety (Asian run) shops...probably get similar things but not as cheap..you have given me some ideas for extra gifts though...thanks..
A great tag tie-on would be those small spatula sets with Christmas-themed pictures. Dollar Tree has these out every holiday. You get two per set. Usually, there are four color options green, red, white, and blue.
Love all of these! I am not handy or crafty at all but these ideas are so easy. Love the hanging jar with the bath salts and candle. And the bird seed in a jar with bird on top. And the jar with the tools for men. Have to watch this again to decide which ones to do! So fun
I got a ‘tinsel toes’ bucket from my SIL years and years ago. Dollar store bucket, nail polish, fluffy socks and a little lotion. Super sweet. I loved it!
You are very creative and talented! I don’t know how you keep coming up with so many amazing budget friendly DIY’s. You inspire me to create crafts and videos myself! Happy Crafting from me to you!
The lids that have the mesh on them that you showed earlier in the video would be a good lid for the "flower Vase" jars. The mesh keeps the flowers in place. Just a thought. Thanks for the great ideas!
This is my second comment as I forgot to add it to my other comment. I love to make the jar homemade gifts and my daughters know this, but I have never received any kind of homemade gifts from anyone I have given a homemade gift to. I would love it. A homemade gift of any kind comes from the heart and that means so much plus It saves the person money. People are not appreciative at all. I make homemade gifts when ever I can. Thanks for listening. By the way, I loved your ideas.
Love these ideas. Every Christmas our friends have a party and we play the white elephant game. This year I want to make the gifts. I’ll make one tea and one coffee gift set. Food gifts are always popular.
I like your idea of using the glass jars to put food items in, such as pancake mix and cookie mix. Actually all of your ideas are clever and creative. Merry Christmas!
I think my favorite was the small jar that you said you could put a secret seasoning inside and you wouldn’t have to share the ingredients. I make my own taco seasoning which I just got online. It is so nice to have it all together and just have to put a teaspoon or so with your ground beef. Thanks for the inspiration!!
i used to get cute little jars like these almost every year growing up i always loved them because they had fun snacks inside of it i miss getting them
I usually give my family a larger present and then some smaller ones that are just cute and that they would like. These jars would be great for the smaller presents. And then they are just right for neighbors and the mail lady and so forth like that.
Love these ideas. We always made homemade muddy buddy or chex mix and added a homemade ornament to the lid of the jar. Thank you for sharing new ideas.
My 2 young adult granddaughters and 1 grandson all of who are really hard to buy for because I can't afford their expensive taste and they seem to have everything. They all love cooking so the spice jars and food jar gifts are I think perfect. Thank you for the great ideas.
They might be inexpensive but once again they are cute and thoughtful , and who has that kind of money for big ticket items anyway! I absolutely love homemade gifts , if people would think hard about it , hey someone thought about me , I have some friends that are not well off financially & they always manage a little something for me I appreciate everything & do my best to make something nice & personal, for them sorry if I am ranting, but these ideas are fantastic!! Thank you .
I made the cookie mix in a mason jar with Christmas cookie cutter and Christmas spatula for my coworkers when I was teaching elementary school 10 years ago and no one liked it. Lol No one said anything to me but I heard through the grapevine that it was cheap of me to make something. That stung!
Great ideas. 😀 Why do you not collect some of your glasses for example from pickles, beans, jams….and use them instead of new bought mason jars? Would be upcycling, saving money and reducing the landfill?
What a fantastic video - loved all these jar gift ideas!! Will, for sure, be using quite a few of them for this holiday season! Thank you for the terrific ideas that are budget friendly, easy, and so thoughtful! ❤️

I love all of these ideas! There is something for everyone. Personalized and on a budget too! I'm going to make many of these for the holidays, and I especially love the Santa belt with the red roses! It's perfect for a hostess gift!
All great ideas! I was thinking that a great family gift would be to personalize each jar for each family member and put in a gift basket or on a Christmas tray. My favourite was the cut roses. Fresh flowers are always a pleasure to receive. Simple and elegant. Thank you for the video. Hopefully, I can get a head start this year.

I'm looking at this for gifts for my family of 14,15...20,21... Wait they're old enough now?!.... If they don't like it, oh well 🤷
I did the mini sewing kit for my daughters new boyfriend last year for Christmas (2021). I didn't know him well. My daughter said he had expressed recent interest in sewing so I went with the idea :) Jokes on me because he told her that as a joke and she believed him. He absolutely adored it and went crazy when he saw it. He was so impressed how I came up with such a sweet and unique gift. He actually does sew now and I'd like to think I inspired him :)
He purposed in July and they are getting married next August (2023) 😍
Thanks for sharing that! I loved that story!!💕❤️😍🥰
You meant proposed?
This happened August 30, 2021 Brevard County FL.
Sounds like a keeper!
Thanks for all the likes! I appreciate you all!
The recipes book is a fantastic gift!
Brought 😢tears to me. Thanks for sharing.
@@lguajardo1 thank you. These are wonderful memories for me.
My mother did the same thing for us when we got married 46 years ago! Always welcome are practical gifts! Thank for sharing!
I like them all you give me great ideas thank you
I lost my husband suddenly and during his sleep in March and don't have much money left to give gifts. This is a bunch of wonderful ideas!
I am so so sorry for your loss 💔 I hope you have a peaceful holiday season.
@@marilyncausey9348 Thank you kiddo!
So sorry to hear about your husband. 🙏🙏🙏
I'm so sorry for your loss. Holidays are always difficult when you lose someone you love.
I love all your rainbow stuff.. a great reminder of Gods promise to us!
Jesus is The Way The Truth and The Life!
Keep making gifts and ignore those who choose to be
ungrateful and rude.
They would not be pleased with anything they received even
if someone bought their gift.
Some just lose the meaning of Christmas.
It is not how much one spends, but the time they gave to
make something special.
shopping on a budget of $50 for multiple people, this is extremely helpful, thank you :)
These ideas are great to take a dozen of these jars to a women's shelter filled with a variety of useful items. The best Xmas video I have seen so far. Thank you! 🎄⛄💯
Loved all of these ideas. My husband especially loved that you remembered our furry friends. 🙂
I'm going to make miniature dollhouse scenes in jars for gifts. Little christmas scenes with light up tree inside. Thanks for these ideas ! I love them all !
Thank you, lovely ideas...I do this for myself...my pantry looks holiday ready...plus a couple setting on my counter...Merry Christmas!
And, doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! These are such thoughtful gift ideas 🎁
@@IrishAnnie I know right it's from dollar tree but she makes it look so beautiful and fancy haha this is perfect
It warmed my heart the best one was for your Grama....great job on all....
🥰🥰🥰
So thankful that you do this so early! I like to get my christmas crafts and gift buying out of the way early(before November if I can) so that i can just sit back and really enjoy the holidays stress free and be in the moment so you totally help me to do that! These are excellent ideas!!!
I love to hear this as I always feel the same way. Glad it was helpful 💚❤️
Agreed! I like to be organised
Congratulations 2 them
It's impossible to choose just one favorite. They are all great. Thanks so much.
Love the dog treat mason jar!

I love the cookies with the directions and little cookie cutter. It’s so cute!
These are such great ideas for gifts. I love the baking jars with little cookie cutters or spoons attached.
Can’t pick a favorite because I love them all! You always have cute ideas!! Thanks for sharing your creativity!!!🥰
I actually love all of these projects and I can't pick a favorite! These are wonderful gifts for a reasonable price and also fitting for many people. I love your bracelet today too!

Love the gifts in a jar. Lots of inexpensive ideas for extended family members!
Such a cute idea for gifts. May I success an idea on the pancake mix? How about adding some dried blueberries to your mix! It adds color and who doesn’t love blueberry pancakes in the morning? 😊
Awesome ideas. Really helped me to complete the ideas I have but couldn’t figure how. Thanks so much.
i do stuff like this for Christmas every year!!!! Always trying to find new things that won't break the bank. three years before I did candles and bath salts, 2 years ago I forgot what i did but it was with mason jars, and last year i did movie night buckets for each family! I got married so getting things for everyone is too much and me and my husband are not rich, but we try
My favorite from back in the day was the layered cookie dough mix.
Hello. I’m already impressed the pancakes Looks so good they’re making me hungry. I’m gonna go out and grab the ingredients for them later on this afternoon.
I'm so impressed at how you can take something inexpensive and make a lovely gift. Great ideas.
don't have Dollar Tree (or equivalent) down under but what we DO have are variety (Asian run) shops...probably get similar things but not as cheap..you have given me some ideas for extra gifts though...thanks..
A great tag tie-on would be those small spatula sets with Christmas-themed pictures. Dollar Tree has these out every holiday. You get two per set. Usually, there are four color options green, red, white, and blue.
Hi Shannon. I liked the last project, the Santa vase with the red roses. Really cute!
😍❤️❤️❤️
That was my favorite too.
Love that Santa vase!
Great ideas! I love the bird seed idea. Finches are my favorites.
Love all of these! I am not handy or crafty at all but these ideas are so easy. Love the hanging jar with the bath salts and candle. And the bird seed in a jar with bird on top. And the jar with the tools for men. Have to watch this again to decide which ones to do! So fun
The mason jar tools and sowing ideas were my favorite. I'm always looking for simple ideas to give during Christmas. The bath salt ideas was good too.
I’m just happy to see you’re feeling better.
Great gift ideas Shannon. I like all of them. I really like the pancake idea. So easy in the morning to just grab, shake and pour. Tfs
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💚❤️
@@TheCozyChristmasCottage I have a question about a different video that you made. Can you please tell me where I can send this question to you?
Pretty 👍
Thank you so much for these! I’m so excited to do this with my kiddos!
i used to get cute little jars like these almost every year growing up i always loved them because they had fun snacks inside of it i miss getting them
Loved all your ideas, my favorite was the bird jar. 🥰
This was genius. Thanks for all the great cute gift ideas.
What a great and helpful video for affordable gifts…. I really love the Santy Claus vase…but they’re all fun.
Also! Thanx for making this video long before Christmas so we have time to shop and think of what we want to make!!!! 😀
14:25 I love using the little tool boxes from Dollar tree for "rugged" gifts like this.
Love all of them. Great ideas for simple Christmas gifts. Thank you for sharing Shannon!!
Loved all your Christmas gifts ideas; couldn’t pick a favorite 😊 have a lovely day 😊
The Santa jar with roses is my favorite, but I love them all!
Definitely the vase at the end love it !
All of the ideas were very cute and creative. Thanks for the video ♥️
I usually give my family a larger present and then some smaller ones that are just cute and that they would like. These jars would be great for the smaller presents. And then they are just right for neighbors and the mail lady and so forth like that.
All great ideas. Suggestion for the shake & pour pancake jar( add 1/4 cup chocolate chips ) for chocolate chip pancakes.
Thrift stores often have a wide variety of glass and ceramic crockery. Cups, serving platters etc which could also be used :)
Loved them all…you make it hard to choose but i think I’m going to do the hair jar with multiple scrunchies. Seversl grand daughters in two families🥰
I liked them all. These are neat gift ideas all year for whatever it may be. Thanks for sharing.
So true ❤️
Love these ideas. We always made homemade muddy buddy or chex mix and added a homemade ornament to the lid of the jar. Thank you for sharing new ideas.
I love muddy buddy’s!! Great gift idea!
@@TheCozyChristmasCottage thanks. Me too. It brings back memories of my late grandmother. We made it and always ate it as we made ornaments.
Thanks so simple from a Aussie girl with no crafty knowledge x
All of them are beautiful and easy to make
All great ideas l will be doing several of them. Thank you for the early ideas
You definitely gave my wife some great inspiration for Christmas gifts this year.
I’m crocheting gifts for everyone this year. Let’s see how it goes. But these are great ideas!
My 2 young adult granddaughters and 1 grandson all of who are really hard to buy for because I can't afford their expensive taste and they seem to have everything. They all love cooking so the spice jars and food jar gifts are I think perfect. Thank you for the great ideas.
❤️❤️❤️
These are all so great I'm going to give a couple of them but my favorite is the one with the tea light and berries and the last one with the roses.
Thank you .
I can't choose a favorite! I was thinking who would get which jar as I watched! These are all great ideas. 🎄
Thanks for the ideas, these are excellent gifts. My family plays games on Christmas and new years eve and these woul make excellent prizes
Such wonderful and creative ideas 💡 😍
Hi pretty lady. How are you doing today? And how is the weather weather??
I made the cookie mix in a mason jar with Christmas cookie cutter and Christmas spatula for my coworkers when I was teaching elementary school 10 years ago and no one liked it. Lol
No one said anything to me but I heard through the grapevine that it was cheap of me to make something. That stung!
Ouch 🤕
Great ideas. 😀 Why do you not collect some of your glasses for example from pickles, beans, jams….and use them instead of new bought mason jars? Would be upcycling, saving money and reducing the landfill?
That's what I do
What a fantastic video - loved all these jar gift ideas!!
