    To be really honest, my scrap box has just been sat in my room for years and getting in the way of things, and now that I've watched this video, I'm going to go through it all and made a whole bunch of stuff! Thank you Weaver Leathercraft!

    Chuck this is perfect timing with us in our homes and not having the money for big leather right now. Thanks for the great ideas and encouragement. Since your better half looks as creative as you, maybe bring her on for a guest appearance, and show her insight. Keep these coming and thanks Weaver.

    I just started leather working this year by getting a bag of scraps at the store and have already made many of these. I love how you dress them up with little trinket things. I do the same thing with wood scraps, making pens, refrigerator magnets and ornaments. The only waste is the imagination!!

    I'd like Chuck to do a video on making a pistol magazine carrier for use on up to a 1 1/2" belt.
    I hope this doesn't transcend any boundries that big leather company's have set.
    Got to admit; rifles, guns, and knives can open up a whole lot of leather project ideas. Also, in my opinion, making a magazine carrier for a double stack magazine is tough to form on the bottom of the carrier.
    I'm sure Chuck could come up with some very nice designs and techniques.

    Great concept to use scrap and have fun! I’d love to see some ideas on making watch straps from scrap and recycled leather (old jackets and boots etc). They don’t take a lot of material, but they do require a high level of accuracy in measuring, cutting and stitching etc. Keep up the great work

    • @minerblue9641
      @minerblue9641 4 года назад

      @Daverooni,
      In my opinion, I like to make a watch band that fits well on the wrist, and I like to use a snap as a fastener, not a buckle. A snap makes it easier and quicker to remove the watch and wash your hands (in crazy times like these). You can even make it adjustable with a little thinking.
      Put a small mark on the top center of your wrist and a small mark on the bottom center of your wrist. Then use a sewing tape to take a measurement from mark to mark on each side of the wrist. The measurements won't be the same. These measurements should set the watch and snap centered on your wrist.

    • @minerblue9641
      @minerblue9641 4 года назад

      Also. I have no affiliation with leather companies other than as a customer.
      But buy some vegetable tanned leather and make a nice watch band. About 4 to 5 ounce leather should work nicely. Hobby Lobbie sells it. It'll take a lot of work and planning. So make a pattern first.
      I'm sure you'll be glad you did.

    There is no such thing as scrap, just new projects and uses. Even that first piece you showed that has been die cut to within an inch of it's life has uses Chuck. They are great for lacing, rivet washers, small decorative shapes, pin cushion stuffing, hat wire enclosures or for lining edges of projects (rolled over edges on a wallet or journal), snap closure tabs on wallets or coin holders or small decorative buckles, etc, etc.

    Hi Chuck.
    Would you please make a leather element video about oil tanned and latigo tanned leathers?
    Recently i bought a piece of pores oil tanned leather (it is very similar to crazy horse or water buffalo leather) and i am really struggling burnishing the edge. How can i make my edge look nice on these kinds of leathers?
    Thank you so much for great videos.

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  4 года назад +1

      Hi Aria,
      Unfortunately soft leathers like oil tanned won't slick very well. You can try to slick with Tokonole - it will work on some softer leathers but not guaranteed. Another thing you can do is paint the edges or fold and sew the edges. I usually just keep mine raw but if that's not the look you're going for then maybe one of the above will help.

    Thanks Chuck! Do you just push the bead over the top of the tassel? Do you need a bit of glue under it? Thanks :)

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  6 месяцев назад

      We would recommend adding a bit of glue just to be safe! It's pretty tight but there is always a chance of it getting loose.

    I am a wood worker and rookie leather worker. I was wondering if you have any ideas on making a chisel roll. I was thinking about a canvas and leather roll. The leather would be on the edges about 2” wide and trim with canvas for main body. Leather tie straps. Sewn pockets, Any thoughts?

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  4 года назад

      Hi Robin,
      We did a video on a tool roll a few months ago and you should be able to take that same concept to make a chisel roll, just adjust the size. I would do pockets on the bottom side only, to fit the handles and then sew a flap that comes from the top down to cover and protect the blades when you roll it. Here is the link to the tool roll video: ruclips.net/video/-B43RzCObNo/видео.html
