i wasn't exactly expecting the bleed knot to wow me as much as it did. i mean, i honestly kind'a rolled my eyes at it at first... but no, i'll admit that's cool and super easy. :D
I have a very good friend who owns a leather shop. He gives remnants to me when I ask. Right now, I have 4 plastic totes filled with great remnants. Some pieces show the bad spots, but most are just remnants from sofas, chairs, etc. I feel very blessed.
I can't believe I'm just finding Chuck Dorsey in 2020. I'm loving all of his videos!! I have so much scrap leather and can't wait to try these projects!!
Thank you so much. I knew there must be a good way of making leather earrings without having to buy a cricut machine because people have been working with leather for centuries. But every time I try it find a leather earring tutorial, all these cricut machine videos pop up. Thanks for showing me how to do this using hand tools.
Hi again from India, Simply awesome, beautiful video and ideas on use of remnants--- "wealth" from waste. Me and my granddaughter simply enjoyed this video. Thanks Chuck and Loni.
Thanks so much! Can't wait to show this to our 13.5 yo son that got into leatherworking (introduced last year while earning his leatherworking Boy Scout badge). I know he'll love your tutorials and we will definitely be purchasing supplies from you. :-)
I'm wanting to start doing leather craft because it just looks like so much fun and would be something I'd love to do as a stay at home mom. It is satisfying to watch and learn! I didn't know where to start but found your channel and it has already taught me so much just in an hour or two. I am excited to watch more and learn more from you! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills with us.
Great video! I love how simple you make everything look. I also really like how you offer the extended possibilities. Y’all make a great team. With this one video, you talked about cutting, measuring, hardware, paint and so much more.
This video is one of my favorites. I love all of the ideas that are endless! It looks like so much fun and simple too! For any beginner! Thanks again Chuck for the great ideas!
Hey Chuck. Have a question. When you were making the bracelet, you didn't use the anvil for the bottom of the double cap rivets. Why? Is it not needed when setting double cap rivets? Please let me know. Thanks
I am so impressed and now inspired to start some little craft projects and gifts - the 'feathers' would also make great bookmarks:) Thank you for the video, I'll be getting my tools from you!
The first project could also be made into a pair earrings. I have a lot of leather scraps that I got for free from my tanner and this helped me to know what to do next. You can also make christmas ornaments with the leather scraps also.
I love your tutorials! Can you show us how to make the blood knot on a thicker purse strap? I'm worried about trying because the leather is thick and stiff. I've been making the blood knot on thinner, more supple pieces and it's amazing! Thank you
Awesome! So glad I came upon your video. Just started thinking about working with leather. I will be buying my tools and materials from you guys. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and techniques.
I'm truly having so much fun learning through your videos, I'm excited to get started. I'll be starting with one of your remnant bags so these videos are absolutely perfect for me to get started with!
The only project I had thought to make with my remnant bag so far is the natural horsemanship style rein guards that protect your rope reins and fit on the rings of the bit. I liked how mine turned out, but things were getting a bit dicey with the knife there, so I would love to see an easier (and safer) way to make them. The first project shown would already make a great bit keeper, though. Some people don't realize that a breakable section where the rein attaches to the bit can prevent a rider from getting entangled in case of a fall.
Silly question but how does the glue not stick to the table ? Does it stay tacky for when you roll it I'd love to make that tassle just not sure what glue to use
Hi there! We are using Angelus® paint in Gift Box Blue, we'll link it below so you can take a look! www.weaverleathersupply.com/catalog/item-detail/50-1948-a6/angelus-acrylic-leather/pr_54200
You can get great paint for leather from Airbrush Mega store Adelaide, it's called Createx airbrush paint. Only need the small bottle, it goes a long way. It is American, and water based. It is brilliant. Google his website, he will Express post to you.
hi Loni, do you think it would be feasible to extend the bleed knot into a longer cord, maybe narrower in something like a 0.5oz/ real light garment weight? i'd like to replace my strappy tanktop straps with something more substantial for summer. love all these simple but impressive little projects. thanks folks!
Can you please call this peace of leather by it's proper name? It's very important to me as I get absolutely lost in a type of leather I would need. It's thick yet very soft where other pieces are stiff. I have so much to learn. Every bit of information helps a lot. Thank you. ❤️✝️❤️

Bleed knots are so cool! Thanx for that. I tied it with 2 contrasting straps of top grain instead of one strap folded over and it came out great

Yes, absolutely! That's a great way to repurpose old leather items!
On the keychain, what is the braid called? I thought you said sleeve braid. Thanks.
thank you for this, very cool projects!
Can you please call this peace of leather by it's proper name? It's very important to me as I get absolutely lost in a type of leather I would need.
It's thick yet very soft where other pieces are stiff.
I have so much to learn. Every bit of information helps a lot.
