As usual, great flight! FINALLY started my private's - 3.5 hours in. I am planning on being a "Martin Pauly" style of pilot, emulating your skills, call-outs, briefings, etc. Safe flying sir!
Excellent videos. I had some time away for financial reasons and wanted professional pre flight and in-flight ride alongs. Martin doesn't cut corners. Love the practice approaches in the soup. I did the same thing on bad days. One day that pays off. Thanks from a huge fan
Great video.I lived in the west suburbs and worked at a facility in the Morris/Joliet area. Always fun to see the sites from the air. Thanks for sharing.
Martin, I'm a fan and was watching the flight to KMDW you posted July 10,2021. What was the actual date of this flight. My aircraft, N80146, shows up on your Avidyne display at time 25:20. Becky pointed out that our triangle was turning. Pretty cool.
Hi Bob, I just looked it up in my log book. The CID-MDW flight was on July 3, 2021. I remember Beckey and I watched the pre-Independence Day fireworks that night from the lake shore in Chicago. Do you remember what you were doing in N80146 at the time of our flight? Best regards, Martin
Yes, Martin I just looked it up in my logbook and I was doing my BFR air work between KLOT and KJOT in our club airplane on that day. How fortunate for me to be on your video. I'm VFR only and your videos help me to work on my ATC comm skills. Our airport is going to be class D in July with our new tower. So thank you very much. Keep them coming.
Thanks for a nice flight Martin & Becky! I always wondered what it is like landing in Chicago, now I know. It didn’t look too bad! Thanks again. Don/NE Ohio :-)
Martin, great video once again! I flew to MDW from Detroit this past weekend in my bonanza. I noticed your AC in the back seat that didn’t and wish I had and the your headset I bought at OSH air adventure this year. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for bringing me along with you guys and love the outtakes. I will be looking forward to your next video. I'm also looking forward to finally getting to meet you that is if you're attending ACCA. I didn't make it last year but gonna make it happen this year. Hope to see you there brother 😁
Hi Kevin. Unfortunately I will not be at ACCA. For some reason I see I am on the list of attendees on the ACCA website, but my plan has been all long that I'll already be in Oshkosh that weekend. Enjoy ACCA, and if you make it to AirVenture afterwards, you can find me there for sure. Best regards, Martin
Yayyy....Beckey. She doesn't let you slide a bit. Is that a swamp cooler in the back, or what is the 4" hose connected to? The outtakes are awesome. More of those!
That was a splendid flight and as always Becky is a hoot. I would sure sign up for a date with Becky but I think that would get us both a boomerang effect. My wife would not let me back in the house and Becky might put you in the hospital. I cracked up when she responded to your remarks. "WHAT!?" Will we see you at ACCA? I plan on being there.
Some of you have asked about the fees for landing and parking at the FBO here. There are fees, but they aren't terrible, at least for a single engine piston aircraft like my Bonanza. Landing is $7.50, and there is a $18 security fee (for what exactly, I don't know). Overnight parking is $20. And there is a $40 handling fee which is waived with a fuel purchase.
It looks like the "security fee" is entirely based on the FBO. If you look here: rampfee.me/search/kdsm#Light_Piston_Single and look at other major airports, you'll see that Atlantic is about the most expensive in the midwest on the security fee, while several FBO's have no security fee.
👍☑️Love it when Becky rides along! Martin how many class B are still missing on the list? CNN breaking news, unconfirmed reports are coming in that famed RUclips pilot Martin Pauly was flying to Chicago recently Rich of Peak!
Oh, I', still missing more than half of the Class Bravo airports in the nation. It'll be a while before I can claim them all. Re Rich of Peak: it's a good tool to have for the right time, just like Lean of Peak. 👍 - Martin
Is it ok to be talking to others on Frequency ? Or was that a comptroller ? Thats a real question not trying to be an sarcastic. I always wondered if it was short if its ok or is it a no no ? Love your videos always helpful & always informative.
Hi Michael. It depends on how busy the controller is and how much talking is going on on the frequency. Quite often there are relatively quiet times, and that's when it's usually OK to ask the controller a question or briefly say hi to another pilot who is on the same frequency. Just use common sense - when things get busy, limit your transmissions to just the necessary responses. - Martin
Hello Martin, I was wondering what happened to the multi-engine training? It would count as your bi-annual review. May I recomend the Seminole or the Duchess?
Most Bonanzas (I believe) have 1 throw over yoke. He could swing it over to the right, or keep on the left. But there aren’t two. It was designed as a traveling machine more than a trainer. Gives the passenger more room.
@@Roblox_Lover_12345 Ahh, that makes perfect sense (traveling as opposed to trainer)... and yea, i just saw a guy on a youtube video with one (i think his name is Martin Pauly - or something like that, he he), and he allowed an airline pilot to take the controls of his Bonanza and he swung it right over to the passenger side, wow, so cool !!!!

Because I got the notification with the airplane in for phase inspection and significant airframe work, the airplane missed the 45 day deadline for demonstrating ADS-B performance, it was put on the “No Service Airplane List” so ATC literally won’t see it unless I make a special application for each flight. The airframe work was in Orlando so Avidyne, being fairly local, supposedly came up and fixed all of the issues. No, sorry, they are all still there.
