I have this at home in Maryland, USA. It’s 35 years old, planted in a pot. I didn’t know about this reproduction, so I cut the growth out. It still sprouts all new branches every August and I wheel it inside for the winter. It got so wide that I removed all the lower branches. I won’t be pollinating it !

So interesting! A shame you have to wait so long to get seeds though, good luck 👍

Great video! Very interesting. Love learning about this stuff. Crazy that there are cycads that grow in central Australia that originate from a wetter rainforest climate. Keen to see more videos!

The Sykes plant in my home garden was planted 13 years ago. It used to send leaves twice in the same year. I sent leaves twice, but the leaves did not complete growth, knowing that I fertilize it with organic fertilizer in the fall season.pls help me

Why not talk about the native Australian Cycads?

We took the opportunity to pollinate this plant as its receptive timing was good, however we’re equally passionate about Australian cycads! In fact, the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan is dedicated solely to Australian flora and includes stunning native cycads. You can see James talk about some of them here: twitter.com/Cycadales/status/1523833181203427328
