Public Land Deer Drive (Quick Plan pays out!)

Have you ever had multiple deer run towards you, giving you a few quick seconds to make a decision on which one to take? I have done a few deer drives in the past but I had never experienced this many different deer coming in at once! Our group had never hunted these particular areas before either, it was all quick planning with using a few different factors. Identifying Hunting Pressure from other people, Terrain features, tree cover types and the wind direction, is what we were using to make plans on the fly that day. With there only being 3 of us total, we had to be pretty accurate on placement of drivers and standers. This hunt was my most thrilling and rewarding hunt that I had in the 2023 season, and probably in my top 5 so far in my life. So sit back and enjoy this crazy hunt!

Hard to say for sure when they are going through the gaps but the frame of that other 8pt looked very similar to the buck that you shot.

Glad that you enjoyed it! I realize that Public Land Hunting isn't for everyone, but going through the struggles and down times is what exaggerates the rush of when you finally punch a tag!

There was no shortage of hunters in the woods that day. I probably saw 50 vehicles parked when I drove a big loop around the public ground.
