-Undercoating is a process used to protect the underside of a vehicle from rust, corrosion, and other types of damage. This is particularly important for the metal components located on the underside of a vehicle, such as the frame, floor pans, and drivetrain components.
The process begins by thoroughly cleaning the metal surfaces to be coated. This typically involves removing any dirt, grime, or other contaminants that may be present on the metal. Once the metal is clean, it is then treated with a rust inhibitor to prevent rust from forming on the metal surface.
After the rust inhibitor has been applied, the metal is then coated with an undercoating material. This material is typically a thick, rubber-like coating that is applied using a brush, roller, or spray gun. The undercoating material is designed to protect the metal from water, salt, and other types of environmental damage.
Once the undercoating material has been applied, it is left to dry and cure. This typically takes several hours, and the vehicle may need to be left in a dry and well-ventilated area during the curing process.
Once the undercoating is dry and cured, it forms a thick, durable barrier between the metal and the environment. This helps to protect the metal from rust and corrosion, and can also help to reduce road noise and vibrations.
Overall, undercoating is an important process that helps to protect the underside of a vehicle from rust and corrosion. It involves cleaning the metal surfaces, applying rust inhibitors and applying a rubber-like material to protect the metal from environmental damage.

Great work! I'm looking at putting sound and heat insulation panels down on my Scout, and not wanting to ultimately have to carpet over it. I'm curious if you ran into any issues with putting the "truck bed" undercoating on top of the sound-deadening panels? My concern is the undercoating sticking and then the sound deadening pealing up over time?

Good concern Michael, so far in the past use I have not had any issue with the long term adhesion, and after the product is cured.

@@jackscustomrestoration44 Thanks so much! The bedliner you put down over the insulation looks great! Thinking I'll give it a shot.
