  • Ping BluePrint S Irons The i59 Replacement has come away from the technology packed i59 and returned to basics with an honest forging. Made from fairly soft carbon steel this new Blueprint which is much larger and easier to use than the previous Blueprint, feels just as good and works just as well. One of my most favourite Irons from Ping so far and would easily blend with the very popular Ping i230 irons.

    The S is a good iron don't get me wrong but finding the right shaft is key. Is gonna be a big seller but as a blade purist I am favoring the T. Nice review once again. You certainly have a gift for explaining the tech with results to us laymen.

      They take a very long time to do so I know exactly why no one else does it...... The time it takes to create and produce each video would mean that it wouldn't be financially viable for content creators to create. I'm in the business of hoping that my stance on this type of content works out in the long run for me and also via a bi-product of its potential success, it may force other creators to produce better more useful content 👍

    I’m late to the party on this one! I hit this today with the DG120 S300, and was blown away. I was getting consistent 1.34 - 1.36 smash (on Trackman). Slightly less (I.e. 3 yards) carry distance than my P770, but much better decent angle and spin. I think what I like the most is my left miss was much less left with the Blueprints. Definitely a surprising to me contender for my bag…

    Hi Jay, Quick question. I'm playing the Blueprint S Power Speced. 11 handicap.
    I went and did a fitting thinking I wanted the 245's or some type of players distance iron. Crazy I hit the blueprints 5 yards longer and much tighter dispersion. Why is that as a very average player do I hit a smaller less forgiving club so much better Carrying the 7 iron 159-164.

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  22 дня назад

      This is quite a common phenomenon which I've called 50p 5p. It's referencing what some amateur golfers bum goes when they see a smaller head shape (their bum goes 50p then 5p 😊). Contrary to popular believe, some golfers actually improve their strike pattern and spray consistency with smaller irons due to the brain thinking wow that head is small I better concentrate here. This translates into a much better dispersion pattern. Give them a more forgiving, larger headed club and actually they get worse 👍🏻
      Seen it quite often although the rest of the golfing world has too many myth based knowledge so they keep going down the wind route often.
      Keep with the smaller heads if you use them better 👍🏻

    Thanks for the review Jay. I play p790 2021 version. I fancy a change and was looking at trying i230, maybe in power spec. Is the i230 forgiving enough compared to P790. I tried cobra tours last week but struggled. Makes me think I need more forgiving clubs than I thought. 67 yrs old and a 10 hci. Looks and feel are important to me. Not a big fan of hollow irons hence the need to change.

      i230 is similar to P790 from what I remember. Better off toe misses, P790 better off thin misses. Have you tried the new T200 or JPX Hot Metal? Those might be significantly more forgiving than both IMO. Or go all out with the new QI irons.

    • @williamcampbell8985
      @williamcampbell8985 7 месяцев назад

      I haven’t tried anything recently other than the cobra tours that I mentioned. Does the 245 feel nice when you hit it. I have watched some reviews for it and they were very positive for forgiveness and ball speeds. I’m not sure I would like the bulk of the QI irons or the stronger lofts. I will have a look though once they are in the pro shops.

      Thank you for the suggestions. I’m not in any rush so plan to try out a few irons over the next three months. I have just watched the dark speed iron review from Jay and given that I’m a slow swing speed player I might have to accept that stronger lofted irons and stopping at 6i could be the way forward. I’m not sure I could stop at 7i. It just wouldn’t feel right. My P790 irons are starting to look good for me again.😂

    Hit the t and the s back to back on the monitor. Bizarrely the t is possibly more forgiving. Both still feel harsher than the i230 due to the elastomer.

      No, it surprised me actually when testing as I thought that would be a factor but actually the i230s are marginally a bit better.... Got to be the tungsten weighting change in the i230s.
      It's marginal though and very difficult to see a performance difference shot by shot but over a season it may well be more helpful on the off days 👍🏻

      i think it may be a different when it comes to the long irons though. They designed the i230 with smaller longer irons than the i210 to appeal to better players. A mistake IMO.

      very similar to the t100, had an iron fitting and hit these and the t100s almost identically. Ended up going with the blueprint s just because of a slight bit of extra height and marginally more forgiveness.

    It's a shame they left in that atrocious hosel notch on a forged iron that can be bent without it.
    I have to Ping credit on their usual excellent performance but that price is crazy when you can get an Endo forged Srixon for close to half the price. Great job as usual.

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  7 месяцев назад

      Yep price does seem to be a very common point of view for people, its due to Ping not having the history of making Forgings so that each one they do make costs them more than an already established Forged manufacturer like Srixon or Mizuno etc 👍

      @@AskGolfNut Not one to critique but he could be right.. I was always told your hands should be only about a fist away from your body, and your hands are way far from your torso area. I was always told that when your hands are too far away at address that it was akin in baseball like reaching to hit the ball out of the strike zone. Or out of your power zone. If you were asked to carry a 35 lb duffel bag you certainly wouldn’t reach out that far to hold it. But what do I know after all look how far the great Moe Norman stood from the ball and he was rumored to be pretty damn good. But concerning the actual point of this video, I too am in love with the Blueprint S and I am afraid once they come in the store and I can waggle a few of them I’m afraid they might be coming home with me 😐😐

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  7 месяцев назад +2

      @Tom-ok2rh they are very nice clubs although for some out of reach price point wise, really that's the only real negative of these irons.
      On the address and stance topic, the main thing really is that your arms are hanging down in line with the shoulders and the golfer can swing in balance. There are so many great players that all have their own way of doing things, as you say Moe Norman is a great example, also Keegan Bradley and Matt Kuchar. All have arguably as or more extreme stances considering their height.
      I do smile when people critique other people's swings as well all have areas that we can improve on, but even more so when they critique the better players and even the Tour guys where they are obviously a darn sight better than the golfers who are critiquing them 😊😊
      People have made a lot of money from making content, books etc on what is the perfect swing.... In reality if that was the case all Tour pros would strive to have the perfect swing.... To date I really only think Adam Scott has come close to being at the top of the game with a nest 'perfect' swing 😊👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
