That is in the anime, the ending is still gentle and has reduced the number of people sacrificed, we cannot ask for a happier ending. In the manga, it is even more dire when the number of people who have to be sacrificed to bring life to life. giving to others is so much that even Isabella has to sacrifice

It wasn’t just Conny.
It was Leslie, Isabella, Krone, Cecelia, the Glory Bell escapees, and all the children who died in all the different farms(Goldy Pond, mass-production plants, and project lambda)
Though, in a way, I believe that Yuugo and Lucas saw their happy ending too when they were finally reunited with their lost family.
I highly recommend the manga, it is much better than the anime(season 1 is perfectly accurate though). There are many amazing characters to meet that were cut from the anime. Y’ALL REMEMBER THE TEA AND COOKIES ON THE TABLE IN THE BUNKER??? YEAH. THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A PERSON THERE.
Season 2 is good to watch for those who don’t like the manga. I mean the way author killed Yuugo and Lucas made me upset.
Even tho the fact she died is very sad. If it didn't happen the kids would never know where the others go and just die.
