Considering the anime skipped out on arguably the BEST arc of the entire story, I'm here to provide both anime only and manga readers my thoughts, analysis, breakdown discussion on Goldy Pond. Why it was cut out from the anime and the reasons on why it should have been included in the anime.
Emma succeeds with her mission to find out about the mysterious Minerva. While she learns more about Goldy Pond and the horrors that reside within, Emma is suddenly forced into a fight about life and death against a species of demons called the "Poachers", along with the members of the Goldy Pond Resistance, Lucas, and Yugo.

They just abandoned chance to make a lot of money from adapting goldy pond arc into the movie, sell the copyrights to many countries around the world, and all that. Messing up a potential anime doesn't potentially boost any sale😂

The fundamental thing that make TPN good in the first place is the dark, bloody and sad story. And in season 2 all of it now gone
With the exception of episode 8 being dark, this story was just meh all around. So sad to see it become what it is now.
Emma vs Leuvis was amazing :( looks like we may never get it in the anime.

My theory is that the animation studio was on a budget and could only do two seasons so they tried to squeeze 10 books into 7 episodes.
Yeah doesn't make the situation anymore better though. I would have preferred them delaying the season

they should have done an ova about goldy pond and maybe until they lose the hideout . What I disliked was that the author said would add stuff in second season and I hoped the promise were explained and get a not rushed ending to understand what happened to Emma. For what I understood is if she remembers, she will be sent to other place and lose memories again.

It's great to see you finally tackling the manga issue. Glad you liked the arc. Another thing that wasn't mentioned at all is how good Mister's progression is done, and it won't be fully developed until a bit later on, before they lose the bunker. Another thing was how minerva used his stories to hide things in plain sight and my favourite... The fourth way gun Emma was using during the hunt
Great insight, I found it a bit difficult to balance how much I wanted to say to give people the incentive to read the manga for themselves as opposed to revealing every major detail so much so that people dont pick it up.

my friends and I had viewing parties over discord every week when the new episodes came out but then from episodes 3-5 (after that everyone decided to stop doing group streams because some people gave up on the season altogether) we were incredibly confused and salty lmao

Yeah one of the worse things to come out from the winter season. No ONE could have predicted this season was going to divide and hurt the fanbase as much as it did

So many good characters, arcs, moments, dialogues, hype, world building and not to mention meaning, just thrown away in the production room with the brilliant future seasons that would've kept both kinds of fans hooked much more (and for far longer) in this series

Good Choice. I've managed to amass 18/20 over three years. However it'll be easier for you as most of them have been released.
Also you should be okay, but check Vol.6 Chapter 'The Two World's' as I got a misprint of 'Haikyu' meaning i had to wait a least three months to a year for a reprint. If you've got the New SJ Jump logo you should be fine.

I have heard a lot of people mention that besides Minerva's phone call and the obvious character development, this arc is kind of stand alone in terms of the overall plot (you touched on this a little too). I know there's really no hope for a season 3, but do you feel like if there WAS, this would be an arc that they could sort of fit in anywhere with some minor tweaks? I feel like the concept is super interesting and clever and they could have approached it in so many ways in the anime, its a shame they didn't at all.
Well as a DJ, music is so monumental to me the Forest Temple just seemed to fit in so nicely when I added it in in that particular section of the video. You asked a really good question. If there was a season 3 so many elements and what's being thrown at us now with the story seems to "Avengers End game" plot that taking us to Goldy Pond would just make no sense even if they change or speed that Arc up for the anime. Like I can sorta see something if they made Leuvis the "true" thread the entire time, but then I would ask myself "well why the hell was he just chilling and murdering children in a safari garden when he can have the luxury to do whatever he wanted"? I will say if did get 3 seasons, I would have preferred them making half of season 2 dedicated towards Goldy Pond with an overall 24 episodes vs the 11 we're sadly getting to quickly end the story.

So I just finished reading Volume 9 and 10 for this and it did not disappoint at all, it had me on the edge of my seat for every chapter, there was so much info to take in and the Action is on Par just as Usual, I totally agree with everything you said in the vid. I can’t wait see what comes next.

The protagonists in the first episode of TPN see their sister killed in a back of a truck. And they watch as demons pick her and talk about eating her. So I don’t really see that much of a difference here.
Edit:the reason that they are use guns is the defend themselves. Not mindlessly kill anyone. They could have put a disclaimer with the violence or done more to ensure that things won’t get to that point.
I agree with you. Also the anime is rated R-17 so 12-13 year olds shouldn't be watching it in the first place. (With the way they changed the story the R-17 rating for s2 is unnecessary because it doesn't count as horror or thriller anymore.) I doubt a 14-18 year old would go out and shoot everyone they see just because they saw kids defend themselves with guns in an anime that has a fantasy world setting. It would have been enough if they change how the guns look so kids don't associate them with real life guns. There are guns in the manga that don't look like real life guns so they could have just used those in the anime (the one that Emma is using or the one they use to break the demons masks).
Yeah I'm not arguing with you there but like I said in the video, try catering to a PG/PG-13 crowd to go straight towards a mature rating afterwards. Its like making the next Spiderman film rated R. No one would hinder their profit/merchandise like that, or ignore that story telling all together. Which is what TPN did by omitting Goldy Pond
@@DJMilez I feel that. Without the action sequences TPN season one was great. But idk...even before reading the manga I expected some type of action that could still cater to PG/PG13. Also like I pointed out the tone doesn’t feel PG/PG13 to me. But that’s just me.
They probably wanted to keep the series as PG as possible like season 1 and less dark

I’ve heard rumors that maybe the reason why they didn’t adapt Goldy Pond could be because CloverWorks isn’t really used to doing action heavy stuff. But I’m not sure if that’s true.
Perhaps but they were also animating 2 other shows and more love def went into those series in terms of the animation than what we got here
One of the thing I noticed, is that, while the first season is rated (sorry if I spelled it wrong, I'm not his good at english) to people with more than eighteen years old, the second season can be putted as 13/14, because they changed the whole way of telling the story
Dont apologize its okay! Yeah I never felt like second season even came close to the maturity and dark themes from the first season.

enma meeting fucking GOD , creating the most important promise in the story, basically rewriting the rules of reality it self, was condensed down to a 8 second barly animated scene in the anime
the fight on goldy pond was so freaking lit it's frustrating i will never see it animated. actually, it's not only the fight alone but the whole character development of the kids. lucas and the kids on that arc (i personally love jillian so much), the reunion of lucas and yuugo and the five demon families (correct me if i am wong if they were five or what since its been long since i finished it). manga emma is definitely the best emma between the two. she is so badass in the manga and they did her so dirty.

As a manga reader of the series: that was the only thing I looked forward to when I heard about s2 being in process to be animated for the series.
It was the only arc besides the prior ones that were good.
And genuinely- while I don’t know if the mangaka and writer were rushed, the series writing took a massive turn for the worst.
Holy shit, that dream i had last night was frustrating, i got to watch a brotherhood version of the Promised Neverland anime, and the season 2 part was good, everything was fixed and i got to see the Mister reveal scene in HD and and a glimpse of Lewis, wish the Promised Neverland got an anime reboot (brotherhood style) faithful to the manga, too bad
Maybe one day in the future who knows.

To be honest I stopped watching tpn season 2 at episode 7, because I just don't know if I want to watch it to the end. Goldy Pond chapters were my favourite and I was hoping to se it in anime.. but uhh they just deleted it- how sad..

The anime wanting to wrap it up in 2 seasons is the only theory (on why they removed goldy pond arc) that makes sense to me. There are plenty of violent anime that kids with guns in anime would be nothing alarming.
Or maybe they simply want to deviate from the manga somehow... So that they won't 100% know what happens next either.
Well, whatever is the actual reason, as a manga reader, can't help being frustrated on TPN's wasted potential in the anime industry... But oh well.... What's done is done.

Loved the video. I have to say the manga looks 1,000 times better than the anime. Also, I think the only salvation the anime has is a cliffhanger ending at Goldy Pond. Either 1) Emma is captured and wakes in Goldy Pond and the anime ends teasing S3; or 2 (and the one I personally prefer) is that all the conveniences seen from the pen happen, the kids then end up saving Phil and the other kids, Grandma Isabella is blocking them from the "Human World" entrance, the kids manage to defeat Isabella and they flee to what they think is safety only to discover they've been led straight into Goldy Pond, ending the anime with a potential S3. In S3, if i were the writer for this "original anime" I'd have Yugo in a cloak immediatly saving the kids from demons who attack, but some of them die in the altercation anyway. Emma, Ray, Norman and the survivors flee and Yugo explains what's going on. From then on, S3 would be manga-adapted content only, but obvi3usy tweeking spots since Norman is already revealed to be alive. Oh and I guess have Isabella still be alive? I'd feel like having her dead would suck as she's a fan fav in the anime, but too many villians/bad guys isn't always good so, yeah, I guess I'd keep her axed out. 😅 Lol, as a writer, I tend to change bad stories into what I think is best and go on a tangine. Sorry, didn't mean to for this. 😅 Anywho, there's only a few episodes left, so yeah, a Goldy Pond cliffhanger ending is the only savior to this anime. If not, well, cancel it and have it remade. Or just don't bother. Or ill just rewrite it, I don't mind. Lol.
All of that sounds great, but the anime somehow leading them to Goldy Pond would just be backwards in terms of the narrative and where its currently headed. Considering how rushed season 2 has been, at this point I feel like it can only be redeemed by them wrapping up the series. The damage has already been done and I would find it appalling and somewhat insulting if 1. they gave us a season 3 and 2. they decided to butcher Goldy Pond as a result from it. But thats just my two cents, we'll see what happens in these final episodes and where they decide to take the story.

Lol lets not get that hyperbolic now. If we're using DBZ sagas Goldy Pond is like skipping the Ginyu Force and other side "fluff" from the overall Frieza saga.
@@DJMilez I will definitely argue it is not just fluff. Without it, we lose much more than we would have with the Ginyu force. (They're a living meme. Haha) Characters, world building, action, growth, and suspense we haven't felt since S1.
@@DJMilez naw they’re right. It’s like skipping the cell saga in terms of importance. Goldy Pond is most people’s favorite arcs (basically everyone if you exclude season 1)
@@DJMilez Goldy Pond is one of the 4 major arcs in TPN. Grace Field House, Goldy Pond, Cultividatala and the final season. The children escape grace field house at chapter 38 yet Goldy Pond doesn’t end until chapter 90 making it the longest arc in the series (I believe)

Goldy Pond inflates the cast
After escaping Goldy Pond Emma's group jumps up to over 50 people to keep track of in scenes. (Which allows for more child death to keep things climatic but also you lose a lot of faces you don't know.) Emma's family from Gracefield is already a pretty large cast to where I wouldn't expect anyone to remember everyone's names but still remember their faces.
Also while Yuugo and Lucas are really cool, the main focus of the show is Emma, Ray, Norman, and the kids. This is probably why they ultimately got rid of Yuugo and Lucas cause we can't have very capable adults hanging around to help the kids.

When the manga was still on 'air' per say (having weekly chapters) I went to read the manga after season 1 anime cause I cant contain suspense. I'm really glad that I did back in the time.... I'm still pissed that they made a slideshow at the end
