Promised Neverland is one of the best selling manga in Jump, and a lot of manga readers were encouraging people to watch the anime once it comes out.I'm really surprised you hadn't heard anything about it before watching it.
I've heard about it long time ago but I obviously got disinterested with the cover arts. You now know what my reactions are during and after episode 1.
I adore the Promised Neverland. When I first binged it I think it only had 5 episodes out, I was so upset I had to find and read the manga. Terrible decision as now I'm waiting weekly for both to be released. Reading the manga doesn't ruin the anime for me as the anime does change interpretation in small ways.
normally, I would agree. the promised neverland is entirely different. this anime does atmosphere like no other. during the scene with connie, i could feel the impact it had on me. i can't imagine what it would be like if i had been witnessing that scene for the first time. alas, i have read the manga, something i regret doing to this day. if the anime continues to put out content like this, i would advise everybody to drop the manga or not read it at all. edit: the anime has made some questionable choices regarding the plot, i still stand by my statement.
The music is one aspect in the anime that makes it a different experience (sometimes better) than the manga. It really helps to det the atmosphere especially scenes where we can actually hear isabella's lullaby. The manga? Well it has more detsils and stuff
As a hardcore fan of the manga, I can safely say that the anime is good so far. Of course, it had a lot of up and Downs, so it could have been done better. But overall, as long as people who don't read manga enjoy watching the anime, I am okay with that.

Curious, why do you dislike people who wear a bands T-Shirt to their concert? I did this many years ago, and the local radio station saw me and made fun of me for wearing it. Not even 2mins later, the exceptionally tall drummer of the main band saw me over their barrier, saw the shirt and invited me back stage where I was able to hang out with them for a good 30-40mins before the concert started for the first band. Then at the end of the night, got to drink with the lead singer, who hadn't seen the shirt I had of their band before. He took his shirt off and tried to trade me his for mine. No joke. I declined because it was sweaty as fuck, plus he said he got in Thailand so I wouldn't want to take something like that. Plus I liked my own shirt. @Bonsai
i rarely watch anime, or any shows for that matter, but my friend kind of forced me into watching the anime. i fell in love with it instantly. i can't wait for 2020.
"From the title and the description, I honestly thought it sounded kind of terrible" 0:19 Weird, when I first saw the title and read the description, I instantly thought that this anime sounded pretty interesting, and once I had finished the anime I was watching at that time, I instantly tried it out.
I didn't think it was interesting when my cousin recommended it, because she didn't convince me enough, so I didn't watch it. But I decided to watch The Promised Neverland because I want to see how good it was. Once I finished the anime, it was so precious! I'm currently reading the manga and it's one of my top favorites. Also, I can't wait for 2020 to come! This anime showed me *A LOT* of things I never understood or learned. I learned strategy, happiness, and intelligence. I'm glad you brought this anime up for others. Thank you for your time!

I was gonna make a joke about the intro but shit this video went way darker than I expected, man I guess I'll add The Promised Neverland to my watchlist
I just love how much it is inspired by the meat industry. What we see in season 1 is pretty much what would happen on an "ethical" farm/at your granny's house in the countryside: the animals are happy throughout the short life they have - but that doesn't change the fact that they are still killed in the end. [minor world-building spoilers] In the manga, we find out that there are mass-production farms with kids who don't even get to learn to talk or walk - their whole life, they don't understand what's going on, they're hurt, they suffer, and then they're killed to become someone's dinner. You don't have control over your life in either of these situations. In the first, you have a good life until you're betrayed by someone you trusted and loved. While in the second, you never experience happiness so death comes as a relief. You can't really decide which is better bc neither is good or fulfilling. It is not really the 'circle of life' either bc you don't even have a chance to TRY to escape, you're just considered crops to be harvested. In the past, demons used to hunt humans, there was a war between them, humans had a chance to fight, there was a natural selection and all. Idk, if you stop for a moment, it can really make you think about humanity's overconsumption of meat. Especially, that in the manga, demons (in poor areas) are facing a meat scarcity crisis while royalty are enjoying the high-quality free-range meat (which they don't even need to survive).
I have no idea of season 2 nor I read the manga but this was what I thought about as I too have a chicken farm where we rear chicken. Not many, and they are free to do whatever they want. But ultimately they are killed
And this is how you gain subscribers. Great video dude, not many people that look at anime in a philosophical way manage to express their thoughts in a way that doesn't feel forced and done in a way where the show just gets mangled to fit the idea they are trying to express. Really like the way you delve in to the topic you're talking about and enjoy how you use personal experience to back parts of your idea.
To know how good or bad the anime you watch is Simply use "First 3 episode" rule. If in 3 episodes meet ur expectation then it will be one of ur fav anime. BUT the Promised neverland did it since its first Episode. 🔥🔥🔥
I have the attention span of five seconds and finding a show I can watch for hours on end is really rare and the promised neverland is one of those shows
... I AM SO WATCHING THIS! There have been commercials about it on Animax and I thought it was something like Boy in the striped pajamas-like (which I had to memorize by heart because of literature class) But if its something about the loss of innocence and carving a new path separate from a fixed destiny? Then this show is 100% my type of thing.
The Promised Neverland I knew immediately that I was gonna like it and THEN I watched the first episode and fell in love!! Every episode got better and better and let out just enough information that you needed to know, but still had you dying for more. Not to mention hit me right in my soft/mushy feels more often than not. I'm SO sad that I have to wait for a second season now, because I just didn't get enough.💖😭
Saw this in my notifications, and had to watch. It's truly a great show, and the latest episode really shocked me. And good to see Mike doing this video; fresh face and perspectives. Loving it all so far. Keep up the fun, Pop Team. God bless yours and you all! :)
I literally took you by word up to the 2 minute mark. I then proceeded to binge watch the anime. Then after I wanted more then I binge read the entire manga series so far in a single day. Now I am waiting for the next manga chapter release this Friday, as well as the next episode release of the anime this Thursday. Now that I just finished binge watching and reading, I resumed this video at the 2 minute mark. That question that you said they'd be answering about knowledge, the manga is still answering. This series will be amazing, I swear.
Hell to the yea! Man! I am allready in love with this channel. And the philosophical take on these shows is awesome. Recommendation: (sorry im a horror fan😂) Another. Its actually pretty enduring if you get past the first few episodes
I put off watching it for the same reasons and then binged it in one go, granted it's only 12 episodes but I couldn't stop watching. It's so well done. Can't wait for season 2!
This is my first time coming across this guy and I just subscribed. I love how he breaks down the metaphor of the children losing their innocence to the reality of their world. I’d love to see what other anime he speaks about and dissects. Not to mention he’s got a smooth-ass voice. 🎤😌
That Quick Change from a Sweet Atmosphere to a Gorey, Dark Atmosphere is all the Reason I need to watch this OwO)b I'm just about Half Way through the Vid . . . But I already know this is gonnna be Great! 😁
I just walked into class one day and a classmate said I should read it. Spent two German classes reading manga. There will be more of that. I didn't expect you to take on such a view of the series, though, but I'm glad you did. Now I can continue reading with new insight and understanding of this series, that I didn't think that much of previously. Thanks.
Fun fact: The way you choose to pronounce the "Lied" in Elfen Lied is exactly how you would pronounce "Leid", a different german word. Lied = song, Leid = suffering. So you're changing "song of fairies" into "suffering of fairies" :D The "Elfen" pronunciation is pretty on point. And the correct way to pronounce "Lied" would be like "lead" as in "cheerleader", in case someone is wondering.
This one video gave me a whole new perspective on the series- the motive of innocence lost to society, acknowledgement and despair, that I have somehow overlooked. Thank you

@@wordsmyth659 That's a bad idea... What did the other people that read the manga before the anime do? The manga is a masterpiece, read it now, then watch the anime.
I've recommended this series to a couple of people and the thing I always say is that I can't really tell you anything because it will spoil the first episode for you. I would compare episode one of The Promised Neverland to Attack on Titans first episode because both shows start off by introducing you to the main cast and have an event which is undoubtedly designed to surprise you and provide a hook to keep you watching. I'm fairly new to anime having only gotten into the medium three years ago, but Attack on Titan and The Promised Neverland are the two series that have made the biggest immediate impact on me. Now both of these shows big episode ending moments are different, as are the shows themselves, and while Attack on Titan has a darker tone to it just from reading a synopsis, The Promised Neverland's almost whimsical setting and art style make the eventual reveal of Conny's fate even more shocking because its the opposite of what you expect. The goal of the first episode of any series should be to draw you in and having a first episode ending like Attack on Titans or The Promised Neverlands doesn't always work, but when it does it can be very effective. When I started The Promised Neverland I had also started four other shows at the same time and the intrigue I had from the first episode is what prompted me to hold off on the other four shows and watch the rest of season one That I think is the power of a opinion shifting first episode climax and The Promised Neverlands first home run.
really great commentary on a show not many channels are talking about, you have a truly great philosophical approach to the metaphorical side of anime and i am here for it!!!
One thing I love about Promised Neverland that I came to appreciate is that after its initial set up and story is resolved, there are plans to make more settings that are equally as engaging. It doesn't become stale or lose its focus.
This anime is the epitome of "Take a seat but you'll only need the edge." Loved it so much, I was set on DS being AOTY but now I feel like it lost too much speed towards the end. This one stayed consistent.
Holy shit that looks awesome! I thought it was some cutesy slice of life type. I'm gonna have to check that out. Btw, why does everyone on this channel have to be attractive?????
I enjoyed this video. I read the first chapter online then started pre-ordering the books as they came out, so when I started watching the anime with my friends I was the only one who knew what was going to happen next. And yet I was still affected by everything that happens.
I just found Bonsai Pop channel. I enjoyed the philosophical content and the over analytical minds . I love how you guys break animes down to find the meaning and the purpose of it. Good stuff guys.
Bonsai, the anime may have pulled you in as it went on but for me, your video did. The images of the anime, combined with your words, true poetry in motion. Your talks of innocence and its harsh, inevitable end, it hooked me in.
Mum is honestly one of the best written characters ever. The series missed out on a cruicul manga moment where she knows she cannot save the kids but puts all her effort in making the kids diminishing years the best they can be. You still get that sense watching the anime but nowhere near as much. Dog eat dog world is the best I can explain it
I really enjoyed this video, I love your outlook on this. I've enjoyed the anime but as a manga reader I haven't liked it as much as I'd hoped. I suppose because I know what's going to happen, the twists that had me feeling a lot when I read them, and maybe lost the impact for me when I've watched it. Really happy to see it becoming popular because as I said I've loved reading the series. Great video
I watched the anine first before readin the manga and I still feel that it might just be a liiiiitle bid bland compared to the manga since it is like the manga still dialogue heavy even though they tried to cut some off, dialogue heavy stories work well in manga form but probably not as much in anime form because it doesn't allow much movement. Looking forward to the 2020 anime though because the story will be more action packed and hopefully more exciting in anime form
This video was in my recommended. I don’t watch a lot of anime. I’ve only seen like 2 or 3. Promised Neverland is one that I heard that was good and I could just tell was good by the description and cover image. I also don’t have any other anime that I am watching so I just decided to watch it and ooohh boy is it good. And I don’t necessarily have an eye for what anime is good and what is bad. This is one just good for all the right reasons.
I NEVER would have watched this anime without your video, and boy am I glad I did. I love it so far and I'm so invested in an anime for the first time in almost a decade. I'm eagerly awaiting each episode which hasn't happened in a long time. I've seen anime in the last decade that I really liked, but nothing that intrigued me like this one has. It didn't bother me to binge watch them and then forget about them for a few months before going back and watching new episodes, but this one is different. Thank you for posting this!
The manga, the soundtrack, the expressions- it all left me in complete awe- this is most definitely one of my all time favorites and i highly recommend it for people who like dark fantasy
Tw for mention of abuse and child death. This series was tense, heartwrenching, and absolutely terrifying, but you definitely feel for these kids. And I absolutely adore the intro. I definitely agree with you on the fact that the loss of innocence comes differently for everyone, and we often and easily forget that said loss doesn't exclusively happen to adults. I won't go too into detail with my own background, but I had a history of abuse with one of my babysitters, and it's still something that that impacts my world view as well as how I view myself to this day. And several years ago I lost a dear friend of mine because her father took her life while she was only a child. It's hard to imagine things happening to anybody in your life until they happen to you or someone you care about. It's even harder to imagine those things happening to children. That's what makes the Promised Neverland so effective.

normally, I would agree. the promised neverland is entirely different. this anime does atmosphere like no other. during the scene with connie, i could feel the impact it had on me. i can't imagine what it would be like if i had been witnessing that scene for the first time. alas, i have read the manga, something i regret doing to this day. if the anime continues to put out content like this, i would advise everybody to drop the manga or not read it at all.
edit: the anime has made some questionable choices regarding the plot, i still stand by my statement.
@@kisame225 unfortunately hes right
All the episodes are out if you havent finished :D
The music is one aspect in the anime that makes it a different experience (sometimes better) than the manga. It really helps to det the atmosphere especially scenes where we can actually hear isabella's lullaby. The manga? Well it has more detsils and stuff
Never before have I witnessed a show where one season is 10/10 and the next is 2/10
As a hardcore fan of the manga, I can safely say that the anime is good so far. Of course, it had a lot of up and Downs, so it could have been done better. But overall, as long as people who don't read manga enjoy watching the anime, I am okay with that.
Ray broke down the door in the manga, not don, that sucked
@@lordaromat3890 i will just wait for the day that the golden pawn ark (i Think thats how it was called) gets animated. That shit was realy hype when i first Read it
@@lordaromat3890Wait what? Really? I picked up the manga starting immediately after the end of last week's episode. Hard to believe Ray of all people would be reckless enough to do that.

Kinda gave don a bit more spotlight that he probs needed after that fight lmao

I love promised Neverland and Gohan punching cell in the face.
i rarely watch anime, or any shows for that matter, but my friend kind of forced me into watching the anime. i fell in love with it instantly. i can't wait for 2020.
Many great anime like this. Hunter x Hunter is another great one.

Still Loving the way Mike breaks down concepts and philosophies in this second episode he's done. Looking forward to what he picks next.
But ultimately they are killed
after watching this anime, i’m gonna be vegan
I haven't read the manga, but that sounds awesome. It makes me like Promised Neverland even more

And this is how you gain subscribers. Great video dude, not many people that look at anime in a philosophical way manage to express their thoughts in a way that doesn't feel forced and done in a way where the show just gets mangled to fit the idea they are trying to express. Really like the way you delve in to the topic you're talking about and enjoy how you use personal experience to back parts of your idea.
i get so happy when people give tpn praise
100% anime, 100% of the time... I didn’t think you guys could get any cooler. I was wrong
To know how good or bad the anime you watch is
Simply use "First 3 episode" rule.
If in 3 episodes meet ur expectation then it will be one of ur fav anime.
BUT the Promised neverland did it since its first Episode. 🔥🔥🔥
This channel has only been up for a week, and it already has more subscribers then Streamsicle!! Nice!! Keep up the awesome work guys!!
I have the attention span of five seconds and finding a show I can watch for hours on end is really rare and the promised neverland is one of those shows
...
I AM SO WATCHING THIS!
There have been commercials about it on Animax and I thought it was something like Boy in the striped pajamas-like (which I had to memorize by heart because of literature class)
But if its something about the loss of innocence and carving a new path separate from a fixed destiny? Then this show is 100% my type of thing.
The Promised Neverland I knew immediately that I was gonna like it and THEN I watched the first episode and fell in love!! Every episode got better and better and let out just enough information that you needed to know, but still had you dying for more. Not to mention hit me right in my soft/mushy feels more often than not. I'm SO sad that I have to wait for a second season now, because I just didn't get enough.💖😭
I don't know why when I saw the thumb nail for the first time I thought, 'Something is different about this' and enjoy it myself.

Saw this in my notifications, and had to watch. It's truly a great show, and the latest episode really shocked me. And good to see Mike doing this video; fresh face and perspectives. Loving it all so far. Keep up the fun, Pop Team. God bless yours and you all! :)
I could see some one tattooing one of the characters serial numbers on their neck
Just 3 videos and this become my favorite YT channel .
Thanks so much for watching! What would you like to see us cover next and what was your favorite video so far? See you next Saturday! 👌👌👌

You had your own leash? (Or however you spell it)
I just walked into class one day and a classmate said I should read it.
So you're changing "song of fairies" into "suffering of fairies" :D
The "Elfen" pronunciation is pretty on point.
And the correct way to pronounce "Lied" would be like "lead" as in "cheerleader", in case someone is wondering.
The demons are much better at humane slaughter than us humans, you have to give them that one.
I agree. Demons respect human meat that's why they have the gupna ritual unlike humans they mercilessly kill animals I'm slaughter houses

My brother just made me watched it. I LOVE IT
I NEVER FORGET THAT FIRST EPISODE
yaaaaaay New episode!
When I started The Promised Neverland I had also started four other shows at the same time and the intrigue I had from the first episode is what prompted me to hold off on the other four shows and watch the rest of season one
That I think is the power of a opinion shifting first episode climax and The Promised Neverlands first home run.
Hi Bonsai, I'm from the future in 2022. Promised Neverland Season 1 was good.

One thing I love about Promised Neverland that I came to appreciate is that after its initial set up and story is resolved, there are plans to make more settings that are equally as engaging. It doesn't become stale or lose its focus.
Ok this went from the promised never land tooooo his life depression ?
Great take on this one Mike, wondering where it goes this anime. Top 5 of this season clearly.
I just found Bonsai Pop channel. I enjoyed the philosophical content and the over analytical minds . I love how you guys break animes down to find the meaning and the purpose of it. Good stuff guys.
Is this a new channel? I dig it, we need more than just gigguk to get our anime fix on RUclips lol
Bonsai, the anime may have pulled you in as it went on but for me, your video did. The images of the anime, combined with your words, true poetry in motion. Your talks of innocence and its harsh, inevitable end, it hooked me in.
Everyone: thought the promised neverland was cute and magical or something cool
The promised neverland: SIKE!

This aged like milk
The manga, the soundtrack, the expressions- it all left me in complete awe- this is most definitely one of my all time favorites and i highly recommend it for people who like dark fantasy
Promise Neverland seemed boring at the first minute into the show until you watch more to the first episode it gets so good.
Mah dude looks like Klaus from umbrella School thing
