What art career path are you currently on and where do you want to end up?
Being a Malayalee-American there is 0 representation of my kind of Indian (India is an extremley diverse country just like America is) and there are so many different types/religions/cultures. I hope to give my people a sort of illustrated book of their history and where they're from so that their children who are born here know what kind of people they are.
I'm on this video watching your interminable chitchat, wishing and hoping something useful will come out of the video soon
I'm currently taking animation as a student, though I've been thinking about a part time freelance while studying.
British Marshall is best Marshall.
at The Origin
Marshall is morphing into Gandalf more and more everyday
Indeed
Nice guy✔️
Old✔️
Wise✔️
Bearded✔️
Yeah he's basically Art Gandalf
He's already metamorphing into the white wizard with that epic beard.
@@kaponautas Ha ha "Art Gandalf". Nice one! Well, it's good to see Art Gandalf and Art Frodo again 😊
He's taking us on an unexpected Art Journey
I like Proko he’s always focused, clear and refreshingly humble.
You just listed his secret to success and appeal!
@@danrazART Secrets that must not be known. Someone is heading to your location. You have one minute.
I've had a bad day so a new episode of Draftsmen is just what I needed. And a Marshall singing intro? Ah perfect!
Your podcast is the most impactful thing out here, you should be really proud of it!
This podcast is a gem to listen while drawing.
I think your anatomy videos are the perfect example of something that effects a small group of people in a very significant way. I can't even begin to describe how much your anatomy course has impacted and aided in my artistic endeavors. It is an invaluable resource to me and I am extremely grateful for all the hard work you have put into making it happen. However I've had many friends who just aren't interested in learning like that. They enjoy art, but prefer shorter, lighter videos.
I bought Marshall's lecture: Designing your Career with a Whiteboard and I liked it! I think it pushed me to understand what I need and should do much better.
I''ve really been thinking about this, I will check it out thanks for the review.
Could you say the author's name? I've probably missed it
Marshall's beard is increasing in majestic energy with every new episode
I love how Stan grew overtime. He became more articulate and the ideas he share to us are so valuable ☺️
This podcast and proko in general is responsible for me getting into illustration. I love you guys - thank you.
this podcast (in general, not just this episode) is pure gold for artists
1:01:41 Yeah those video help me SOOOO MUCH!!, when i saw the video of the anatomy lesson, it's a lesson beyond anything i've ever watch before, it's informative, fun, and easy to understand. It motivate me to draw soo much back then when i was a highschooler. Stan should be proud he made that, it helped me a ton and i'm sure it also help others
WOOOOO! New Draftsmen let's do this wow thing!!!!!!
I just love Marshall and Stan, they are such an amazing duo
I love me some garbage truck day. Oh and also the beginning of S3 of Draftsmen!
One day I'll repay you guys, very useful free information as always. I am a self taught animator and only started last year, I'm not the greatest yet technically, but I believe my creativity and problem solving ability is far above average. I managed to negotiate my way into working on an anime for Netflix with full creative freedom and I also have a consistent stream of projects coming in that will last me until 2023. I am currently in the process of scaling up my operation. I'll double back once I hit my targets. All artists need to remember is without an element of logical underpinning all we are doing is drawing pretty pictures, which is something all of us can do, so if you wish to avoid competing you have to offer something that separates you and above all enjoy the process
Ah, nothing is better than listening to Draftsmen podcast while doing warm up drawings! I’ve missed you both so much
😤 ugh my love for marshal just becomes stronger with each season of draftsmen.
Woah the art gods have shinned light upon my mundane life 🙏
Time flies! I’m pumped fellas!
Daamn stan youre getting so much more eloquent as time passes, its night and day compared to the first ever recordings. I loved your focus of bringing back the digressions to make a point on the subject. Very fun to see it o/
"Who needs the draftsmen shoooouw ?"
Me: Me
Idk why RUclips isn’t recommending your videos!! I can’t believe season 3 started already, missed these guys! Love the advice I get from Marshall and Stan.
stan was on fire in this one!
PERSPECTIVE!! Get it? and Marshall is already diving deep.
Marshall has a great voice!
I love this podcast - as a young artist it gives me a lot of advice and points of view to consider. Thank you, for putting these episodes out 😁😊
whOOOoooOOOooo!!!! heck ya we back
Im going through the figure drawing course right now, but the anatomy course, for me, is what set this channel apart from the others. It's so detailed and well explained that I could understand most of it as a stinky beginner, and that made me trust that the lower level courses would be worth it. It also taught me that I wasn't really ready for it, so the figure drawing course and other courses by other artists are like a build up to that bigger goal.
IT'S HERE!! I waited so long for this! c:
You should be proud of the specialized audience you have here with the Draftsmen. I got back into art thanks to you guys, and I appreciate it very much. Who cares for a million views from a million fools?
You're back! This made my day! ❤️😊
WELCOME BACK!!! I've been waiting so long :D ....Patiently.
Yesss finally!! This new season couldn't be more timely for me! 😁❤️
I'm happy the podcast is finally back!
I miss this so much. Yay you're back ❤️❤️❤️
This is great! Im so happy the podcast is back
Thanks for coming back!!!
This is gold 🥇!
I need a Marshall album to listen to while getting high af. Pls man do a blues kinda jazzy album, the world needs It. XD
I have been waiting for this podcast to come back. I missed you guys.
I found Proko through the anatomy vids 1st, extremely helpful. I've watched the entire series of Draftsmen so far, and this is my favourite -for the many practical, yet inspiring tips.
I don't yet know where my art career is going, but I want to be the best artist I can be, and I do it for the pure joy, love, therapy it creates.
It's the same philosophy IDEO (award winning industrial design company) preaches "Fail early, fail often". The design process is iterative in nature your goal is to put things out quickly, monitor progress and adjust to find the best possible solution as efficiently as possible. It's Reilly the same with any venture, prototype, prototype, prototype. You need to be putting things out adjusting and constantly growing.
What the h?!? I never gone any notifications that there was a new season. Glad to see it, though!
I missed you guys! ♥️ great episode with very helpful tips as usual - the RRR method specifically, was very eye-opening
you guys are so inspiring thank you guys so much for all your draftsman shows
Haha, found myself watching and writing long comments...back to drawing! Good luck to all of you on your path...enjoy the ride!
Great timing 😌 I was just researching what a fine art career really is this week. ♥️
thank you so much for these podcasts. i now realized how these types of convesations give me so much energy and ideas to keep going. i feel like i need to pull one up whenever i feel like it's getting really heavy on me. today i feel so much better. :)
I love hearing Marshall sing! 😂🥰😉👍🏽✏🖌🎨🖼
Good to have you back!!!
woooow, wasnt expecting this. but im happy you guys are back :)
Its finally here 😱
Loved the discussion, thanks.
@proko your anatomy videos are the best
they are BACK
Glad to have you back 😁
I love Marshall so much
As someone working in animation, 2020 had an exponential growth of work that's is being produced. So many new hires, even new projects have had to be rejected, and while deadlines are very much the same, the fact that art/animation can be made anywhere has given this industry a leg up. Of course this comes with some draw backs as clients do notice this and keep the production at the same high standard as before and from what i have been told, there are cases where productions have been asked for things to speed up. Art and business is a tricky thing to navigate. As always a great insight in this video guys.
i Love this podcast, thank you guys so much.
Thanks Marshall for the great tip for the Wrecking Crew documentary.
This was an excellent video... very inspiring. Thank you
these guys are the bests
this has been a very insightful video, thank you!
Yes! I'm here for season 3 :0
Season 3!!!!!
your anatomy classes are superior...I love those and appreciate those so much!
Saving up for Marshall's perspective course
Really good stuff! I'm 61 and have worked for myself for most of my life after college. Sometimes in graphic design, sometimes as a building contractor, and sometimes as an artist.(currently I have an art studio). One financial thing I would add is what I always called getting ahead of the wave. For me this means (and meant) getting to the point that you can get by for a couple months when things are slow without running up the credit cards or getting behind. It is difficult but it is a must to make the long haul.
(currently taking the figure drawing class for fun and to get back to drawing again :) )
S3 lets GO!!!
It's garbage truck day here to Marshall!!!! 😉 Season 3 woohoo!!!!
I'm so glad I heard this, this is exactly happening to me right now!
you're baaaaack finally!!!
Another way of going about it is by doing a SWOT analysis, which is trying to determine your Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats. This breaks it down into internal and external things that may have an effect on your plans.
your videos are inspiring to many artist and you both should be proud ..
I missed u guys so much 😭
You guys opened my mind with the confirmation bias 😮
YEEES you're back!
Robert Bateman told my old art teacher, "You're going to make over 2000 mistakes when you start, so get busy making them... love that..and as a somewhat intermediate artist in the making, this has been invalualbe advice...
SEASON 3 LETTSSS GOOO
WOAAAAA DRAFTSMEN IS BACKK
Finally! Ok, I'll watch it tomorrow 'cause it's too late right now.
I missed you guys
I didn’t think I would miss garbage truck day so much!
Considering the measurment of the success, it can be a difficult process. Awards always evaded me, even when I was considered for one, there was always something missing. The punch to the gut was that the ones getting them did not use their advantages and I sometimes feel they were the edge I needed to get somewhere, like a residency or something. Even when I did a painting cycle, creating the first both sided paintings on a both sided canvas, nothing happened. I live for the mission after that, and that is to make something great, stable and for all times, not just contemporary.
oh guys, I missed you so much!
A day late but welcome back!
My question for the next podcast, (I'd love to have some insight into), is at what point do you move on with your life if your art plans don't work out. After 3 years, and subtle growth, is it best to move on, to something that is more consistent in value? (a regular job), or keep working at it, for "X" years to come? There isn't a clean cut path for building your brand, it seems, so it's mostly waving your arms around until something grabs on. Appreciate any insight into this if possible. :D
Return of the kings
Season THREEEEEE!!!
AAHH I've missed those episodes!
You guys are the best, I listen to podcasts all day wall I'm working and I love you guys. But I'm still waiting on Marshall's perspective course! I'm not nagging, well I guess I kind of am, sorry. I just want you to know that I'm really exited about it. You don't have to, you don't owe the world anything but I think it would make the world a better place, or at the very least it would make my world a better place, cause I want to learn perspective from Marshall Vandruff.
A full podcast?! This is very rare
So happy you are back! I missed Marshalls garbage day haha 😂
I like to read and watch art not only make it so i often search for titles in Marshall's background.
Can he please make a list or take photos so I can have a list of all of his books from the background shelves ?:D
here we gooooo
Hey Marshal, I’m waiting on your book on Perspective. I went over your classes way back when and have to go over them again (at least my screenshot version).
Mr. Vandruff's intro: birds chirping, humming, sun rising.
Mr. Proko: a semi truck roaring by
FINALLY!
I can help looking now and then at Marshall's fascinating book shelves behind him. That is quite an art book collection he has. I would really fancy a video in which Marshall makes a show and tell about his art books - and other relevant publications.
