    I had the exact same problem and found the solution. Start your car at diagnosis mode ( keep pushing the button near speed meter while starting your engine). When in diagnosis mode release the button and push it about 40 times until you see a "16-30 C" temperature indicator. That is the perceived heat of your motor. Push the gas to see whether if your fans will kick in. Fan has 2 speed levels, low and high. Low should kick in at about 80 Celcius and high should kick in at about 105 Celcius. In my case, Level 1 fan kicked in only after 105 celcius. Which means the low speed fan trigger isnt working. Replacing the big fuse that is next to the big green one solved the issue for me. Big green fuse activates after 105 Celcius and the one next to it activates at 80 celcius. If you dont see temperature increase even though you keep hitting gas, then your sensors are the issue.

    Just run that wire into the cabin & hook it up to a toggle switch and you can turn the fan on at a stop light.

      If u still have overheating is bc air in the system u need to drill a 1/4 inch hole on the thermostat so when u fill radiator water can pass through to fill the other portion of the tube and bubble will release through the thermostat hole and will reverse to radiator cap while filling up once all bubble stop radiator system is completely fill with water or coolant. And once all done engine will be safer and head gasket will never burst .

      The low speed fan comes on to cool the radiator. The high speed fan comes on when you run the A/C or the defroster or the engine temps get very hot. Both fans can come on to provide even more cooling when things get really hot.

      Two fans direct all the time fry the alternator pulling 80amp all the time...thats why the system comes with temp sensors to activate the fans at certain temps.

  • @LAW-fv6ys

    Blocked radiator core internal or external fins. Water pump impeller blades snapped of or missing. Pressure loss in coolant system from leak or expansion cap. Coolant temp sensor or thermostat is stuck only partly open. Head gasket leak. Nothing else it can be.

      ProjectFlip is it normal for air to come out of the oil fill

    • @JoeFasho
      @JoeFasho  4 года назад +1

      Its normal for it to ventilate a little bit. But if it seems like a lot is pushing out then do the cap test to check blow by. With the car running, remove oil cap and place it on top but do not tighten. If the air coming out is strong enough to push the cap away, then you have excessive blow by and that can mean worn out internals of engine or possibly other issues.

      I had the same problem with my last focus... it ended up being the resistor for the blower motor. not the cooling fan resistor. it melted wiring and f'd everything but hey i made it an extra 100k before it caught fire in the under hood fuse box and had to be towed home.... and then it started again it was driven onto the tow truck 200+k mile on original drivetrain and overheated 100's of times lmao. my new one does not overheat as of yet. but it would have been cool if you could pull the 2 fuses and show the slots in the resistors that you used. but all in all great video man.

    Hey bro, I keep coming back to your video! I thought: Hmm maybe my high speed fans work good & that is why my fans spin when I run 12v to them & maybe the "low speed" is bad? I can run 12v & ground to each fan & they work! BUT, like the idiot that I am, I PAID THE $98.00 & BOUGHT NEW COOLING FANS, DID NOT FIX IT!!! THEN I BOUGHT A NEW 70AMP LOW SPEED RELAY (THE GREEN RELAY) ANOTHER FAIL!!! I have replaced the water pump, thermostat & housing, cylinder head temp switch & cooling fan relay & wiring harness, grabbed the 2 black relays from a junkyard focus, EVERY PART OF THIS COOLING FAN CIRCUT IS NEW & STILL NO LUCK SO, I CUT 1 OF MY HEAD TEMP SENSOR WIRES & RAN WIRES INTO THE CAR & MOUNTED A TOGLE SWITCH! YES, It set off a check engine light but, I can shut it off with my cheap scan tool. I wish I had a better scan tool that showed my actual engine temp but, your idea works & I THANK YOU FOR ANOTHER WAY ARROUND THE PROLEM! I WAS SIMPLY RUNNING MY FANS CONSTANTLY BY DISCONNECTING MY CYLINDER HEAD TEMPATURE SENSOR BUT,That ended up frying my alternator! so, I am now on my 3rd alternator & it was time for something new! I ordered an aftermarket cooling fan controller but, the temp sensor was 3/8ths=way 2 big! it's a single wire set up & the focus has a 2 wire head temp sensor! I WONDER IF I SHOULD USE THE 5V REFERENCE WIRE OR THE 12V WIRE TO RUN MY AFTERMARKET COOLING FAN CONTROLLER OR IF IT WOULD EVEN WORK THAT WAY? ((IM LEANING TOWARDS THE 12V WIRE?) ANYWAYS, I laugh when watching your video because, I as well have replaced EVERYTHING & STILL, NO LUCK! I like how you mock the other video's!!! tho, it has to be a short in my wiring or a bad ecu? so, I simply cut 1 of the hed temp sensor wires 7 ATTACHED A WIRE THAT IS LONG ENOUGH TO RUN INTO THE CAR, CONNECTED A TOGGLE & RAN ANOTHER WIRE RETURNING FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TOGGLE SWITCH, BACK TO THE OTHER END OF THAT CUT,"TEMP SENSOR WIRE" & NOW I CAN HIT THE TOGGLE & TURN ON MY FANS & NOT HAVE TO RUN THEM CONSTANTLY! YA, it's a pain but, it's easier on my electrical system, I can run my subwoofer amp & when I need my cooling fans, I also ran my sterio remote wire to a different toggle so, I can still listen to music just without the bass when I need to run my cooling fan, sometimes I consider disconnecting the A/C fan & letting the other cooling fan run constantly but, that scares me! I don't want a draw on my electrical system! I am considering this kit on amazon that has a digital display so I can see what my temp truly is??? THANKS BRO!!!! Wish I knew what the real issue is w/my cooling fan set up??? f'n ford! but, everything is new on this car so, it should last as long as I keep my eye on the temp gauge!!!

    I am having same problem. Fuse 6 (30 amps in europe) was blown, replaced that. Now everything is ok (no overheating) but fans are not blowing.

    • @JoeFasho
      @JoeFasho  6 лет назад +1

      Janne Raatikainen unplug your cht sensor (plug right above altenator) and turn car on to see if fans work. If fans come on then this jumper trick should work for you. If the fans do not come on, you will need new fans

    • @pacifist2829
      @pacifist2829 6 лет назад

      But my problem is that car runs fine (no overheating). Fans just keep off. I measured the resistor and checked the resistor connector and they are fine. Normally it runs about 93-95 C temperature, but if I let it stay idle, temperature raised to 103 C and still fans didn't run. After that I powered it off. (sorry about my rally english, but you probably understand).

    • @pacifist2829
      @pacifist2829 6 лет назад

      I don't know much about engines. Is the connector one of these ? www.raatikainen.org/extra/jako/focus/focus.jpg I am a bit afraid to break something. :)

    • @JoeFasho
      @JoeFasho  6 лет назад +1

      Janne Raatikainen that looks like the duratec motor and not the zetec motor from the link you provided. As far as the temps go, that is normal operating temp. As long as the car does not overheat, i would leave it alone

    • @pacifist2829
      @pacifist2829 6 лет назад

      I made a test for the fans. Driver side (left) fan shows short circuit and does not react if I rotate it with my hand. Other side fan shows some ohms and they increase if I rotate the fan with my hand. I tried to run them with external 12 volt nimh battery, but neither them worked.

    You can disconnect the head temp sensor & the fans will run constantly! I have the same issue! Everything is new on my zetec vin-3 focus yet, my fans won't cycle! I am so frustrated & I have had to replace the rod & main bearings twice because the zetec has a heat threshold & running it to cold or to hot will ruin the rod bearings quickly!!!!

    • @JoeFasho
      @JoeFasho  6 лет назад +1

      Doing that causes the engine light to come on. Thats why i went with the bypass. I agree tho. It is frustrating. Ive replaced everything too and a buddy of mine hooked it to his computer and manually turned the fans on to make sure low speed and high speed worked. Both passed but fans still would not cycle properly. Havent had any bearing issues yet and i beat on this thing daily.

      ProjectFlip so did you find out what was wrong? because i have the same problem but don't wanna burn out my fans

      I havent figured out the issue as of yet. Ive replaced pretty much everything and still no signal to turn fans on at the appropriate times. Im still running the bypass myself and probly will swap the fans for some aftermarket hi performance fans and keep them running as a constant. This is a common issue with this car and alot of people are letting the fans run.

      Does changing the water pump help ?

    • @JoeFasho
      @JoeFasho  6 лет назад +1

      It can help if your waterpump is starting to fail. If you are are a long idle and notice your temp rising, rev the motor a few times to see if the temp drops. If it does you may have a faulty waterpump. The waterpump also has a weephole which coolant will leak through if it goes bad. You can check on the passenger side of the block to see if there is any coolant trails coming from waterpump.

      @@JoeFasho my ford fiesta 2003 1.6 when I fill up the coolant, then drive for like 30minutes the pressure builds up and opens the expansion tank but no any warning light.what would be the cause?

    • @JoeFasho
      @JoeFasho  4 года назад

      @@MAKOMERE you could have a thermostat that went bad and its not cycling the coolant due to being stuck closed. This can cause back pressure in the system and push it out of the expansion. You could also have a bad radiator/coolant reservoir cap. When those go bad it is not able to keep the pressure and releases.

    Grounding out a positive pin would not be advisable. If you have replaced all of those other things and you have to rewire a relay, maybe try replacing the relay?! Relays are electro-mechanical. The mechanical part tends to fail quite often in relays. The relay will be alit cheaper than the other parts. If replacing the relay does not fix the issue, then whatever activates the relay is your issue. If you have replaced what activates the relay, its probably the wiring between the two.

    You are going to burn out your resistor connectors or even your relays

    Why not run a wire from the fans to the inside with a switch to turn on and off so they don't run constant.

    Yes ,leave it in on position for a couple minutes and you run down the battery. Henry Ford is killing himself again.

    The whole point of electric fans is so they dont have to run constantly. Why not just fix it right? Nice quick fix tho

      Thank for watching rick and for the comment. In one of my later videos i fixed the issue with the fans using the sct tuner by controling when fans come on. Originally the computer was not turning the fans on until it was too late.
