Agreed. People think Esmeralda was shady choosing Phoebus over quasi. I love quasi, but I also understand why Esmeralda chose Phoebus. He saw her as Esmeralda.
I can see why they cut this song ( it doesn't add anything to Quasimodo's story) but I like how it portrays the gypsies in a more positive light. The court of miracles song only reiterates Frollo's negative impression upon Quasimodo.

GUY. THAT. IS. PAUL. KANDEL.
Although this song didn’t make the film, it still creates wonderful feelings and memories for me. Hopefully, one day someone will decide to entirely animate this just so I can visualize it in its full glory.

I see it more as them opening up the story for children who when the grow older will be more open to reading and admiring the original work. Children hate old stories like Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet because they feel its forced on them, but giving them a lovely tale that's interpretation is different slightly means they can see the majority of the story with some changes, and means they'll be less likely to dismiss the original work.
Well, Phoebus is voiced by Kevin Kline. If you want to hear songs that he's sung, he also voices Mr. fischoeder in "Bob's Burgers" and Tulio in "The Road to ElDorado". There's also the cast recording of the progressively-darker stage-adaptation of this movie, where has singing roles, and is played by Andrew Samonsky

I love love this. Its not plot essential per say but it would give the Ramoni people and the court of miracles such a more welcoming and kind feeling. in the movie, there wasnt alot of time to spend with them or learn about there customes, or grow attatched to many beyond Clopin, who was also not really shown a ton, (depsite being my fav character). But this song shows a villiage of familys and people who clearly dont desserve the harsh cruelty of Frollos rule, and showing Clopin as the mighty Ramoni King, leading his subjects. It also doubles as a way for Esmerelda and Phebus to grow closer, as they dont spend alot of time together outside of being wounded or unconsious. 😂 I would EASILY take it over the gargoile song A Guy Like You..infact WHY didnt we get this over A Guy Like You!? This song atleast makes sense and is good! Im sure people would rember it more fondly over the other. It gives me strong Can you Feel The Love Tonight with Through Heavens Eyes vibes and sounds just as lovely.

Yeesh! No wonder this was cut! Where to start with this train wreck? The MASSIVE tone problem within this song (and you thought the gargoyle's jokes were messing up the atmosphere of the film), the less-than-memorabe lyrics, the bizarre misplacement of priorities to have a wedding despite knowing that Frollo and his guards are coming, the full stop of the plot and the narrative tension, or the dick move of not only flaunting Phoebus and Esmeralda's relationship in front of Quasimodo but also FORCING him into officiating the damn thing?!!? This would've been SO messed up!
I think it's a sweet song but it's a little too sentimental to fit in with the rest of the movie. Much like "I Can't Believe My Heart", a deleted song from Hercules. That was a sweet song as well, but it just didn't fit the mood of the story.

Well they couldn't have possibly used the original plot for a children's movie. :/ This is personally my favorite Disney movie and I think they came up with a nice way to adapt the same theme of the story into this movie. They were inspired. They didn't want to take the exact same idea from Victor Hugo and just draw it. And you are entitled to your own opinion. I understand some people still prefer the original book, because the book is great in itself.
I think you need to look it the other way around. See, if you look at the three guys wanting Esme, Frollo only sees her bad sides, he only sees her as a sinning witch, while Quasimodo only sees her good sides, and she's somewhat of a "price" or a God to him more than a human being, while Phoebus sees both her bad side and her good side, he sees her as a human. And therefore, he gets the girl. And not because he's good looking.

They changed the story and characters a lot yes, but Hunch back is not alone being changed. In Cinderella, the sisters are suppose to cut off their toes. Its disney. They make stories a lot more kid friendly and less gruesome. I prefer to think of these things as twists on the original versions, not movie portrayals that are staying true to the book, as they obviously are not.

I prefer to think of these things as twists on the original versions, not movie portrayals that are staying true to the book, as they obviously are not.

This song could have fit very will within the final film.
I realize this song wouldn't have made sense to have when Frollo is supposed to be coming to arrest everyone, but I still wish it would've been fit in somehow. Like maybe if they'd visited the court of miracles for another reason at an earlier point? Personally I don't mind taking just a little bit of time away from Quasimodo to focus on 2 other very important characters, and it seems like such a waste to write a romantic duet this beautiful and not use it!

AM I THE ONLY ONE who DOESN'T think this is paul kandel singing? it is alan menken who sings this song. as a major jafar fan i own all of the demos this man recorded with jonathan freeman and i would recognize that voice a mile away. it's not paul. alan would also sing iago and genie many times.

i usually come down on the side of "aww, poor little song it woulda worked"....yeah not this time. it breaks the flow of the scene. the gypsies are preparing to leave cause of Frolo and to stop and have a wedding song and dance, yeah no.
Sorry if someone taking a book and trying to make it kid friendly and dark at the same time makes you butthurt.

As cheesy as this song might sound, I think it would have been perfect for a finale in a Broadway version of this movie.

@Filmzie Well i wouldn't say its a Stupid song, it does give Quasimotto's acceptance to Phebus and Esmarelda's relationship more prominance, but that's prettymuch all it does. if they deleted that, they'd have to delete the "Heaven's Light"reprise that comes after it.
But if it were deleted, we;d be nodding our heads going "oh yeah, it makes sense they deleted it, it's confusing"

@Tartubeman Because everything about the Hunchback 2 was stupid, not a single smart move was made. Putting this song in the second movie would have been clever and appropriate. Ergo, it didn't happen.

True. ^_^ Still, I wish there was at least one accurate movie. I've watched all the English versions I can find and Notre Dame de Paris, which is the most accurate version thus far, and so many don't do Victor Justice. The silent film was the worst, though.

I'm pretty positive all such characters of his (Esmeralda, Dea, etc) are based on Adele. So if nothing else, he'd be upset about Esmeralda being so seductive.

First of all, I'd like to think that I do know at least a little bit about how he'd feel given that he based Esmeralda on Adele and Frollo, whether he intended it or not, is very similar to Victor during his courtship of Adele. And since you're so stubbornly telling me to get over myself, I'll let you know that I refuse to do so. Why should I? Why should anyone? We're amazing. Modesty and humility bring us down vibrationally, so screw that. I can defend someone I love if I so choose.
