Ya Baby! Did you have your bike turned upside down on the saddle? It’s confirmed, the smart, quick and efficient riders like you and I do it that way! The wanna be “pro’s” with the holding their bike or laying it down to get the wheel off is just needless faffying around. You’re the man Luis!
I've been using the mid sized cycplus compressor for a few months and like it. It works much better than co2 for adding air to my tubeless road setup. I've saved a lot of time on group rides lending this to riders with flat tires, its much faster than waiting for someone to change a tire with a hand pump. The battery holds a stable charge for a long time and the digital screen looks really sharp too. The downsides are the pump is pretty loud and can get quite hot, but that's true of any air compressor.
I have the pro max, the large one, and like you have had it for a few months. I agree with you, it is pretty loud lol and the heat only when used without the hose I have gathered gets it hot at the valve stem. I've been charging it once a month usually around the 15th day of the month and the charge always holds because I have one bar at least right before charging.. that said I have been lucky with no flats yet but it's cool to use to let a friend see it in action. I like the sized too, it's the size of a standard butyl innertube.
As a 50 something who has come to road cycling after a double hip replacement, Luis this is one of the best cycling channels on RUclips. Keep it going Luis!
Good Info - Not sure if it was mentioned it or not but the price ranged from about $80 to $130 across the models. This is without the 5 percent LUIS discount. I bike for exercise and my old hand pump will give me even more exercise if I get a flat.
I purchased a Rockbros brand version with a gauge about a month ago. Pretty much the same as your medium Cycplus. Also came with the hose and various accessories for TPU tubes. I love it! I top off the air in my tires before each ride and these little fellas only take 3 to 5 seconds to add a few psi. I can do that process several times before the battery level even starts to drop. Much easier and faster than using a floor pump. I still carry a mini hand air pump on the bike for flats etc but this pump is more than ideal for flats and topping off the air in your tires.
I have this thing: its great. Allows you to pump as much as you want or as little as you want to prep the tube in the tire when changing it...among other things.
I’ve been using the Silca Impero frame pump this year on my bikes and I’ve been a huge fan. It’s always there for me or any of my buddies that get a flat and I think it looks pretty cool on the bike too. It’s a little pricey but if I like the ease of mind I get that I won’t be stranded due to not having a co2 or an inflator that’s run out of charge.
I still remember watching a triathlon race in the mid 90's on TV. The athlete had a rear puncture. Ripped off the tubular by hand and then slapped on an another tubular, inflated the tire with a CO2, taking 15 seconds without counting raking off and putting the wheel back on. Maybe down 30 seconds total. That was impressive to watch.
After going from full size frame pumps to mini pumps to CO2, I’ve gone back to using a Zefal HP frame pump. Frame pumps probably will not fit on frames with non-round formed top or seat tubes, like on most carbon frame-sets now. Frame pumps can easily be disassembled and painted to match your bike’s paint color too. It’s a good look.
I was given a similar device for my birthday, and I always carry it around. I did not have to use it yet but I am glad that I can now count on that pump.
thanks for the review. this is a great solution (or at least consideration) for those who travel by air and still bring their bikes along for the journey. the TSA and FAA do not allow for travel with CO2 cartridges in your carry on (it is not supposed to be in checked luggage either, but from personal experience not all bag handlers know or care). these devices allow for one less thing to think about on landing - no need to find a local bike shop that carries CO2 cartridges, no need to go find nor carry a pump.
I've carried CO2 with/plus a hand pump (I love redundant systems). Now, I'm going with the AS2Pro with/plus a hand pump thinking the AS2Pro will me more reliable and easier than CO2 for me to use (due to Essential Tremor in both hands). I've watched others' reviews, but actually trust yours ... a blessing. Thanks!
Which one do you use? I have live the mini pumps with the fold out out foot stnd and built in gauge. Mine currently is a Lezyne and I've had mine for 18 years, still working great.
I completely agree--have been using one for almost a year, and two on-the-road flats. There are three additional benefits vs. C02 cartridges and hand pumps. With the mini-pump you can partially inflate the tube to give it shape prior to mounting it on the rim. A tube is much easier to mount if it as 3 or 4 pounds of air pressure, 2) You get more than one shot at inflating the tire. The problem with C02 is that it's all or nothing. What if you get a second flat? What if the cartridge fails? I re-inflate to about 60 PSI, which means I could inflate three tires, and 3) It's faster than a hand-pump. I ride in the winter, and the rechargeable pump only takes about 2 minutes, saving me from freezing my hands and fingers.
I partially inflate the tube by blowing into it and that’s enough for mounting. I also carry 3 CO2 cartridges. You mentioned winter…. What happens to batteries in winter? They deliver less power when they’re below or above ideal operating temp. This is a good idea but I wouldn’t use as my only means of getting air. I could see using this and having emergency CO2 or a manual air pumps
Recently ditched my mini pump for local rides with one of those mini electric pump from aliexpress. I got the bigger sized and actually used it for the first time 2 weeks ago. Worked perfectly and still had a lot of juice for 2 more usages. If I was going to ride over 60miles then I would definitely bring a backup pump. Overall I’m a convert of the electric pump.
I carry 2 C02 so I always have a backup. If your little pump fails your hosed. 2 TPU tubes and 2 CO2 I still think is a better, lighter, and less room solution
Got to say I have that one, but I'll stay with a small C02 inflator and cartridge. It has a small footprint and faster to inflate. I've been riding for 7 years now, 80 - 100k 4 times a week and no flats. A good bike tire pump before you leave the home, still is the best.
I've wanted to get one of these. I don't really like using CO2 so I carry a mini pump that fits in my pocket but I can never get the tires pumped up to where I like them. I wonder if it sits for a bit if it'll lose charge?
Hey Luis, I ride vittoria latex inners in my Enve 4.5 tubeless wheels because I hate the white gunk. Thing is, when I have a flat I can’t get enough pressure on the tire to get it back on the beat with a handpump or co2. Does this little bad boy do the job in case of an emergency after I’ve changed the inner? Thanks for the vid man.
The tube doesn't get cold, the canister gets cold. Cartridges work just fine. Just don't inflate a TPU tube outside of its tire casing or it'll aneurysm and blow out.
We had a TPU tire inflated with a Co2 and it wasn't an issue... but I am not certain of long term issues. Regarding the difference in flow rate being an issue for TPU. Co2 inflates in a matter of seconds, while the mini compressor takes about a minute.
Great video but you know what punctures are like. Sometimes something goes wrong. A bit of grit gets inside and gives you another puncture down the road. Or you thought you got the original sharp stone out but missed it. Or you put the tyre on and it's not sitting right on your annoying tubeless-ready rim. Two or three inflations no worse than CO2 but I'm going to stick with a mini pump!
My 2cents: 1. Cyclist who already equip with C02/Inflater i think just remain what you have. In my country the C02 only cost 80cent-1dollar USD. In terms of cost is more savings if you're not punture prone. 2. If you're new cyclist or not equip with C02/Inflater than get the CYCPLUS.
