muska was the shit, got in to skateboarding because of his style. and so his pro shoes on circa, damn the good old days.
Circa! My homie was the rep for Circa and my brother was the rep for Axion back in the day. I was dripping in swagjuice to say the least.
I loved those shoes. As soon as they came out I got the grey/blue pair. They looked sick, but looking back, they were probably terrible for skating.lol. the best shoes I had were Circa Jamie Thomas. I wish someone would get the rights to start making those again like some other brands.

The simplicity of skating back then seems so crazy to see now. I remember this time well and everything seemed way more impressive at the time. Weird to think all of this stuff was in videos. I still enjoy it though. 1:54 looks insanely fun.
Its because the Tony hawk's Games that kids used to play. They were doing insane shit in the game and now it's the requirements in real life
Yea. This was the standard lol. Now this is child's play but also those ramps look super unforgiving. Just enormous and fucking steep. They make it look easy but it really isn't.
It _was _impressive; Chad's style has been copied and recopied so much that he looks positively sketchy in some spots (but that's just the spoiled brat in me in a world full of skaters and footage). Some of his fakie-tre-fakie stuff looks mint even by today's standards IMO, but on the other hand, his center of gravity is off here on some of the landings, 40's maybe lol
When you watch his footage in '21, you have to remember the context. Skating is still a pretty new activity in terms of tricks and progression. It's like watching basketball players from the 70's, you have to give respect to the groundbreakers.

Just remember this is 20 years old. To give context, if Chad was watching 20 year old footage in 2001 he would have been watching footage from before Rodney Mullen did the first flat ground ollie in 1982.
I remember watching this when I was about 12. Awesome stuff.
I skated that park at the end -- as the Shorty's empire was winding down. It was a lot of fun. The first incarnation of Skate Street in Ventura was another great one.
I thought this guy was one of my favorite skaters in 1994. And he's still one of my favorites.

that is one thing that sticks out to me now. all the parks are mellow. back then the fly box was steep and shit and the rails and ledges were higher.
Agreed, I’m 33 and skating this stuff back in my middle school high school years was very intimated n if u popped right off the large pyramids u would get some straight flying air. Now days all the parks seem very mellow n very easy for even the younger kids to skate
