If they were so worried about the past show(s) they should have launched it with different branding and name. The difference between now and then is that back then they willingly gave their viewers what they wanted in order to maintain the show. No one forced the people to appear without clothing. If they said "do this without them or you are fired" then yeah, they would have had an issue. With this launch they actively went after the old viewer base and a chunk of the new ones who may have been interested in order to gain a new market that was smaller than their original target.
Ultimately the followed the trend of using the old badge of something that was beloved to subvert to how they wanted it and attack anyone that criticized the lack of spirit in it's "reboot". Like a snapping turtle, it lures you with bait (reboot or sequel to a beloved franchise) and then snap!
"different branding" Exactly. Their premeditated decision to use the G4 name, on purpose, to _not_ produce the content that G4 was known for - is a mask off moment. The only reason to do that, would be to subvert/manipulate the demo interested in what G4 had been doing... Even if it didn't perfectly illustrate their malicious intentions... it's straight-up false advertising.
That pause after Geeky Sparkles said you were as bangable as Henry Cavill....total LMFAO. She's a treasure and you should totally wife her, if you haven't already. But you're a smart fella, so I know you already have.
Not even much of a gamer, but I liked the original. No one took themselves or the subject too serious, it was really funny, Olivia was hilarious and of course great looking.
_Would've been much easier to keep G4 alive had they made everyone leave the social justice at the door._ That's impossible, because nearly all of entertainment has been completely taken over by the social justice mind virus. The scary part is that medicine, law, and the hard sciences are also becoming infected with it.
I remember having only watched a couple episodes of the original G4TV before (no personal TV at the time) but Olivia Munn's and the other hosts' overall authentic-feeling stage presence - not just their appearance - was what stood out to me. There's nothing authentic about the vibe of the new G4TV crew.
Really? I always felt that she was extremely inauthentic. I WANTED to like the show, because she was definitely hot, but she just came across as pandering to an audience she didn't connect with to me. I couldn't stand it. Old school Xplay with Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb was great though - she came across as an authentic gamer to me. I don't know what happened to Adam. He used to be cool.
Year 1 of G4TV was the best because it covered so much for just being a new channel. Everything they had was so broad. >Cinematech (Trailers for games even obscure ones in Japan) >Arena (Teams playing against each other with great commentators) >Cheat (Cheats and strategies) >Starcade (Fun 80s arcade game show) >Filter (Top 10 Countdown shows) >Judgement Day (Game reviews) >Icons (Half hour documentary block on the history of gaming)
Regarding employees not being allowed to enter a building to retrieve their belongings if the company goes under suddenly. That is fairly common. In one instance i heard of, the affected employees coudln't enter the building to get their stuff for up to 6 months.
I remember watching G4TV back when it was on TV. back then it was all about the latest video games and hardware and what to expect. then they decided with the revival "get woke" is a great idea only for it to fail massively
Here’s part of the problem in my opinion. They are getting more attention now than their own viewers were giving them. The sooner we move on to more productive gaming conversations the sooner they drift into the depths of our collective forgetfulness.
Actually no. This needs to be remembered for a very long time as a warning. Putting it into a memory hole will only encourage the same behavior from others.
Yes! The reason they allowed and championed Frosk's toxic behavior was for attention. If we starve them now it will be a learning experience for the rest
I'll love to hear a storytime with Xavier Woods. That guy, he's been behind the scenes with A LOT these past couple of years. The lay offs and rebuilding of WWE under new ownership, and this whole G4 thing, that guys been through quite a bit lately.
Woods is the man. His conversations with Tyler Breeze on UUDD that revolve around wrestling are always a joy to hear, and the guy is a great wrestling talent I feel that hasn't had his creative energy tapped into. It also nice for me as a black guy to see another black guy doing well for himself.

The problem I'm noticing is that everybody is trying to curate and custom-make their fandoms now instead of letting them form organically. They want to pick and choose who gets to be their fans and shun away the actual people who enjoy their work. What ends up happening is the new fans they want are still not attracted to their shows and the old ones feel left out and leave.
I see this happen A LOT with left leaning youtube channels like JSG, or Vito, or SFO, who managed to attract conservatives due to their Anti SJW content and then tried to replace them with agreeable leftists. It didnt work, as the fans grew fed up with them spouting increasingly idiotic leftist dogma or picking fights with their more conservative fans and now they are slowly losing the relevance they built up. so no. people arent going to learn, as youtubers keep making this mistake too

Thank you Geeky and Kneon, Yet another great video and a reminder as to why I loved the classic G4. It was a different time. We all know that but understanding what made it special was not too complicated, it let you know what its focus was through a little bit of humor. It even for the time through in a little bit of material that definitely wouldn't fly today. Gaming and its openness have definitely improved, but it has been a natural progression. What the activists that have hijacked all the big properties, networks, comic books, and everything else fail to understand is that people must change naturally. There are no forcing changes and we are seeing the direct results of damage because of force. I come from a background completely outside of gaming or the tech industry or anything related to gaming journalism, I was a casual gamer from about 1992 to about 2014, and I owned the console until around 2015. Even so, I was a huge fan of the flow of the old G4 channel, they hit you with knowledge, and they hit you with opinions that were focused on the video games and material related. They also hit you with really nice personal experiences from the hosts. --- Morgan Webb - - I admit I was a huge fan of hers because she was smart and sophisticated and knew when to take little fun shots at the viewers not maliciously but because she was genuinely funny and was showing that just because you looked a certain way or were a female you could be funny, you could be a gamer and you could inform. Most of all, you could have fun. Her travel segments were some of the best, even confronting aspects of gaming culture, particularly overseas that she did not know very well or wasn't entirely comfortable with taught us to embrace the unknown. When it came to gaming and its ever-changing landscape. She was always willing to learn, always willing to have fun, and always took something positive away from her experiences. --- Olivia Munn - - Completely embraced her personality on air, I don't know how much of the material she dove into, that she didn't have a passion for. She certainly presented a fun and humorous side to the gaming channel that was G4, she was risqué at a time when it was normal, but she could give as good as she got. I'm sure material that she did back then she might have second thoughts now, we are all older and wiser, at least most of us are. I have heard nice stories of how genuinely happy she was to be working there and that she was a big positive force for the old-school crew. In many cases, she was the perfect example of what it was like back in the 90s and early 2000s, to "let your freak flag fly." It wasn't anything malicious. It was fun. It was controlled chaos. Olivia was right there in the center of it with Attack of the Show and that was some of the funniest material that I've ever seen, much of it could never fly today and I had a friend tell me that I needed to remember the context in which it was shot and I do. At thirty-nine years old. Looking back when I watched these programs when they aired, I was a regular guy, but I also was a passionate gamer and I loved seeing stuff that made me have an emotional reaction, be it laughing out loud or just reacting to the incredible vibe that was the original G4. --- I deeply appreciate the work of the old-school crew, I wish Adam Sessler luck in dealing with whatever anger is obviously deep-seated in him as an individual, I understand that he had drug issues, near the end of G4's original run and I understand that personally, his life has not been ideal. He just needs a much better outlet for his insecurity, or at least his frustration. I miss the days back when shows either would be so slightly political that you might miss it if you weren't watching for it or they would be so political in an over-the-top way, you really didn't care. I think it is normal to care about what you believe but the keywords are "what you believe" and for everybody that may be different. --- As usual, I thank you guys so much for making my days fun as I look for positivity, information, and just small little pieces of joy in this crazy world we live in, and in the increasingly minefield-laden Internet in which we access. Thank you... Jess
I audibly awwwed when Kneon said he thought Geeky was as bangable as Olivia Mund, and she said she thought he was as bangable as Henry Cavil. Such a kyute duo of moments :3
Somewhere out there, buried in a cave in the artic, there's 1 guy who still thinks people want to see things they used to love "fixed" and made flaccid with post-modern politics. But once we get him, I think it's safe to say everyone will have figured out that it never works.
In hindsight, Frosk's kiss of death rant might have been a blessing in disguise. From the info presented in this video it sounds to be like the new G4 was doomed from the start, but without Frosk stabbing it in the gut and watching it bleed out it might have shambled along for years before the plug was pulled. This way, Comcast can flush this turd down and move on with their other business ventures without dumping money into a lost cause for 2 or 3 years.
6:25 Wait a minute, so that means there wasn't a single person at Comcast overseeing where the budget went, right? If copyright was clearly a known issue to them then it never should've been made it the first place so how was it given the green light? Maybe I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything surrounding this catastrophe but did Comcast seriously just toss these guys more money than most us will likely ever see in our lifetimes and tell them to go buck-wild?
Ha. The drama surrounding nu G4 is more entertaining and will last longer than it did. I’ll be interested in hearing what people like Gina Darling will say once those NDAs expire
5:33 What the hell? "It must be cold in that studio!" Well, at the end of the day, "The Salt must flow" and we will be hearing more about this as more NDA's expire.
Old G4 wasn’t perfect, but it was VERY popular from 2003 to 2006. It started Olivia Munn’s career, and Chris Harwick’s career as well. The new G4 basically ended careers. Big difference! 😂
I applied for the G4 Needs Talent thing, and even got emailed back from them, asking me to submit more material. Were they just toying with almost everyone who submitted? I think they brought on just one guy from that “search.” I was upset when they didn’t bring me on, but I understood the odds were slim. Hearing they really had no intention to hire any talent makes me even more infuriated.
Funny but if you look at some older e-game pictures of Frosk she doesn't look bad. She didn't have that Saturday morning roll out of her tent on a camping trip look. She had her hair done and wore nice clothes. All she had to do was look presentable and the chat would've been much kinder.

It is ALWAYS tough to resurrect a beloved show when a few years or more have passed since it went off the air. Usually, you can never catch that same magic as it had in the past. Tastes change, people change. Even with the original people there would have still been a decent chance that the G4TV reboot would have still died, just not auguring in at Mach 5 into the side of a mountain. Again, because tastes and people change, what worked 10 years ago, might not work, or work as well, today.
I was so excited when it came back and would take the time out of my day to watch it live. It wasn’t the same but it was good at first. Then after the rant it went down hill and was bad. So I stopped just like everyone else.
I remember before G4 became that. It was called TechTV, and it was actually useful & interesting. I'm sure Leo LaPorte cares less about this silly drama than I do.
"It's not going to be your dad's G4TV." Meaning it's not going to be fun, funny, sexy and entertaining. Games are supposed to take you away from life's annoyances - not to be lectured to by the people who make life annoying.

With this launch they actively went after the old viewer base and a chunk of the new ones who may have been interested in order to gain a new market that was smaller than their original target.
You would think they would have used the TechTV branding if they were so ashamed of G4.
Ultimately the followed the trend of using the old badge of something that was beloved to subvert to how they wanted it and attack anyone that criticized the lack of spirit in it's "reboot". Like a snapping turtle, it lures you with bait (reboot or sequel to a beloved franchise) and then snap!
issue these activists always take beloved IP and ruin it
"different branding"
Exactly.
But nope, gotta trade on nostalgia bait while undermining it.
That pause after Geeky Sparkles said you were as bangable as Henry Cavill....total LMFAO. She's a treasure and you should totally wife her, if you haven't already. But you're a smart fella, so I know you already have.
Indeed I have. Thank you. ;)
Indeed that pause had me thinking "Do we need to call the fire department? Because there's a burn here".
It's amazing how this dumpster fire keeps burning.
Who would've thought frosk-urine make good fuel after all the stupidity that came out of her trap?
Kneon: I’m not as bangable as Henry Cavill.
Geeky: I mean yeah…
Leo Laporte rebooted ScreenSavers and it lasted like 4 years. This didn't even last 1 year. Ouch.
That was on Twit wasn’t it? I caught a couple of episodes on YT a while back but kept forgetting about it

Was Sara Jean Underwood part of the OG crew too?

Not even much of a gamer, but I liked the original. No one took themselves or the subject too serious, it was really funny, Olivia was hilarious and of course great looking.
Comcast should sue frosk for destroying their show.
thats chump change for comcast. their big money corruption is peddling big government lies for the DNC & MIC, hyping us into the end of the world.
True. It was not inevitable. Mr. Beast has higher production value and expenses than they did, and he's crushing it.
Been too many years of success to be a fluke. Turns out free-will and good decision making exists. Things are not predetermined to succeed or fail.
Adam Sessler does not exist to be easy on the eyes for you!
And thank God for that. 🤢🤮
he was old cast member back in the day 🤣
Would've been much easier to keep G4 alive had they made everyone leave the social justice at the door... Or just leave.
_Would've been much easier to keep G4 alive had they made everyone leave the social justice at the door._
That's impossible, because nearly all of entertainment has been completely taken over by the social justice mind virus. The scary part is that medicine, law, and the hard sciences are also becoming infected with it.
Only goes to show we can't have nice, wholesome things anymore thanks to feminism, diversity, and LGBT

>Cinematech (Trailers for games even obscure ones in Japan)
>Arena (Teams playing against each other with great commentators)
>Cheat (Cheats and strategies)
>Starcade (Fun 80s arcade game show)
>Filter (Top 10 Countdown shows)
>Judgement Day (Game reviews)
>Icons (Half hour documentary block on the history of gaming)
It was tech TV be g4tv. More balanced between tech and gaming.
Chris Gore had a nice rant too
Props to both of you guys. Been subscribed for a while and I love to see the growth. Two of the realist on RUclips. Respect 👍
It’s still going on? I think this might last longer than the actual show.
Too bad the OGs like him didn't return. Maybe the revived G4 would have stand a chance.
He probably knew what it was going to be and was smart enough to stay away.
They didn’t want him if he didn’t align with the politics
They didn’t want to pay a livable rate for experience.
Miss the old G4. Icons, Filter, Judgement Day, I watched Attack of the Show off and on. I couldn't get into X-Play much.
I love Icons back in the day 😊
Remember Ronilynn Reily? She was definitely easy on the eyes for us!
Anyone remember the show Portal? That was a fun silly time.
I preferred TechTV before the merger.
It liked that they showed Starcade!
You remember what G4's gaming competition show was called? It felt like the birth of eSports
By the way, Congratulations on reaching 278,000 subscribers, Kneon and Geeky Sparkles!
“It’s not your dad’s G4TV!”
That’s the problem.
Glad you both got a kick out of the article. It’s pretty wild how so much of this stuff has gone down. Pretty sure people are going to look back at all of this and SMH for a long time... Also Geeky had me crack up randomly with that comment about Sess. Did not expect that, lol.
Thanks for referencing my interview!
G4TV is over and done with. I don’t have much to say on the matter, anymore. Their true fans moved on when they pushed them away.
“I’m distracted by Adam Sessler’s nipples” I’ll take things I thought I’d never hear for 500

Anyone else think Adam Sessler was the main reason the original G4 got cancelled, given his ego?
Wasn't watching when it got cancelled, but I suspect it got cancelled for being a bargain-basement version of SpikeTV.
No doubt
I personally disagree, I honestly think it was just poor management. I forgot which manager said “Gamers don’t want to watch other ppl play games” but my god did that make me laugh. That dude must’ve felt like such a jackass after the rise of Twitch
He was fired a while before it ended so it's unlikely.
ego = cocaine
I think the failure of G4 shows how out of touch these large companies are with the modern audience. Both the older and younger generations.
The only real question is, how many times does it need to happen before everyone accepts it doesn't work.
I see this happen A LOT with left leaning youtube channels like JSG, or Vito, or SFO, who managed to attract conservatives due to their Anti SJW content and then tried to replace them with agreeable leftists. It didnt work, as the fans grew fed up with them spouting increasingly idiotic leftist dogma or picking fights with their more conservative fans and now they are slowly losing the relevance they built up.
so no. people arent going to learn, as youtubers keep making this mistake too
At this point I'm just waiting for The Right Opinion to make a twelve hour video chronicling the downfall of G4TV.
ive not seen him cover any thing relating to woke culture down fall and he seems very left.. i do like his content but not convinced he would cover this sort of thing but maybe im wrong
yeah I’m not sure I’d trust TRO to cover the actual reason as to why G4 fell, given I’ve seen some videos outright dodge talking about Frosk
I think its pretty awesome that you guys have such a fun relationship. Your audience can tell you guys really love each other. Keep up the great work guys!
they're so sweet and lovely ♥
Thank you Geeky and Kneon,
Yet another great video and a reminder as to why I loved the classic G4.
---
Morgan Webb - -
I admit I was a huge fan of hers because she was smart and sophisticated and knew when to take little fun shots at the viewers not maliciously but because she was genuinely funny and was showing that just because you looked a certain way or were a female you could be funny, you could be a gamer and you could inform.
---
Olivia Munn - -
Completely embraced her personality on air, I don't know how much of the material she dove into, that she didn't have a passion for.
---
I deeply appreciate the work of the old-school crew, I wish Adam Sessler luck in dealing with whatever anger is obviously deep-seated in him as an individual, I understand that he had drug issues, near the end of G4's original run and I understand that personally, his life has not been ideal.
---
As usual, I thank you guys so much for making my days fun as I look for positivity, information, and just small little pieces of joy in this crazy world we live in, and in the increasingly minefield-laden Internet in which we access.
Thank you...
Jess

Somewhere out there, buried in a cave in the artic, there's 1 guy who still thinks people want to see things they used to love "fixed" and made flaccid with post-modern politics. But once we get him, I think it's safe to say everyone will have figured out that it never works.

@@awakeandwatching953 Difference is, blackrock knows it doesn't work but wants to break it anyway
The banter at the end of the video, that is one of the best accidental advertisements to get married. Very cute
Yeah, way Jeremy put it it makes sense. 100k per episode for internet video isn't going to fly like the old days.
Live from the Clownfish broom closet.
That ending to the video though. Spicier than the old G4 right there. Gotta love you guys.
I would pay good money to see Morgan Webb and Olivia Munn give Frosk the same treatment that the LAPD gave to Rodney King
He's exactly right it's like they were trying to "fix" the past when it didn't need any fixing......
Geeky Sparkles, we can't unhear that now you've said it (at 5:25) 😁

Off topic, have you added background music to your videos? I have not heard that before.
Thank you Kneon for changing the subject.
I will never grow tired of watching Woke finally burn to the ground.
Old G4 wasn’t perfect, but it was VERY popular from 2003 to 2006. It started Olivia Munn’s career, and Chris Harwick’s career as well. The new G4 basically ended careers. Big difference! 😂
I remember the marathon reruns of Cops and Cheaters on the old G4. 😆
Sounds like it.
You and me both. I felt like many of us were tricked into getting one of their hashtags trending. Not cool at all.
Funny but if you look at some older e-game pictures of Frosk she doesn't look bad. She didn't have that Saturday morning roll out of her tent on a camping trip look. She had her hair done and wore nice clothes. All she had to do was look presentable and the chat would've been much kinder.
Another example to chalk up to the 'Get Woke. Go Broke' chapter of 'how to run a business into the ground'.
Dunno who Chris is but his is exactly the sentiment so many people feel in general about their popculture is being screwed up.
Whenever someone says “this isn’t your dad’s such and such,” I immediately assume the new version is going to be nowhere near as good.

I remember them. They were some of the best G4 hosts.
They can never start something of their own and have that suck, they have to find something you like, and utterly destroy it,all while blaming you for their bad judgement and lack of talent.
I liked the old 'call for help', 'screensavers', basically the leo Laporte shows. G4tv was good but started going downhill after they broke away from that stuff.
Not gonna lie as a kid I could careless about G4 when I was a kid. All I cared about was Munn doing sexy stuff. There was better news outlets even then for games.
Chris Gore was a bit miffed at the "fix the past" comment, and though he's been respectful of the new G4, had a big problem with that statement.
I thought the G4 train wreck was over.🤔
No no, the train wreck first started when it “hit the cow” and was pulled off the air. What we have here is the slow motion active crash. Crunching metal, breaking grass, ground being torn apart, homes destroyed, lives ended and livelihoods wrecked forever.

Yeah. Not your dad’s G4 for sure. Dad got everyone when they were young and fun, now that everyone hit the wall and got boring, we are here for “the kids” 🙄
Absolutely it needed to be fixed! The original G4 was popular and successful, and the revamp fixed it.
