Hey Mike - thank you so much for putting this great edit together - we can really get a sense of how fast, those crazy buoy turns, the falls!! Hope you feel fitter after the Boat Show!! xx
Thank you! Yes I noticed too having a camera following really puts a new perspective to it. I don’t think it has ever been done. It’s also good to see where the races made a mistake or fell back.
Continuing on my last comment. Having a smaller board and say a 3 buoy turn division & a 5 buoy division and then age groups. The core market of sup is 40-65 So why not include the older crew in the sport who deserve their own division. Just some food for thought Congratulations crew Kind of frothing on a new era of sup racing.
Thanks for all the ideas. This race was one of a kind, we wont see any pool races again this year, so there is no point of thinking up divisions and so on. Back to regular SUP we have the age groups and so on. Plus pool time was extremely limited we could not have more racers than what we had.
What size race boards are they racing on? I honestly feel like sup sprint buoy racing in a quick dynamic race should be 10ft raceboards Also helps on the shaping/blank ordering. Big foam is tricky and costly for someone whom may want to cut out a design and experiment. We need to recreate sup racing board size specifications for a new era of racing.
They were on regular 14' boards, I dont think anybody will be particularly thrilled to have sprint only board class. This kind of race was one of a kind.
