RECIPES:
APPLE DUMPLINGS:
2 Cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
Mix flour, baking powder and salt together. Cut in shortening until the dry misture is moistened evenly. Slowly add milk into the dough until it holds together.
Seperate dough into 6 balls.
Peel and core 3 large to medium size apples.
Roll out the dough until the circles are large enought o wrap around an apple half. Put a pinch of sugar and cinnamon into the core of the apple and wrap the dough around the apple. Tuck the ends underneath.
Spray a cake pan and put the dumplings in. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
SAUCE:
HEAT TO BOILING:
1 cup water
1/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar (I use coconut palm)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix 2 tablespoons permaflo (or a thickening agent of your choice) into 1 cup water. Slowly add this into the boiling mixture until thickened.
Spoon some sauce over a warm dumpling and serve with icecream.
ENJOY! 😉
APPLEBUTTER:
10 small to medium apples
1/2 cup water ( or apple cider)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
Peel and core apples. Slice into wedges and put into kettle, along with all the ingredients. Cover and cook (light simmer) over medium low heat, stirring occasionally, until apples become very soft. Approximately 1-2 hours.
Put mixture in blender and blend for a few seconds to the consistency of your choice. Spoon into jars. This can be refrigerated for up to 4 weeks.
You can also freeze.
Mary, never feel unworthy when someone gifts you something, even if it’s a gift such as the sewing machine. You bring so much joy to a great many people through your videos and other endeavors. Plus, I know it gave the person who gifted you the machine a tremendous amount of joy in doing it. Knowing you use the sewing machine to create your beautiful projects, in itself, demonstrates your gratitude.
Mary, I LOVED when you showed the old cars and when they started their engines. 💜 I actually got a little teary eyed when I heard those hot rod engines. You see, my dad and Uncle loved those old cars and it just brought back memories of them doing the same with theirs. Mary, a parchment paper trick my 92 year old mother taught me was once you have the paper the size you need, to crumple it up in a ball and then straighten it out on the cookie sheet. It presses into the corners and sides much easier and it doesn’t roll up. Works great!
Fall is definitely your season. You can smell that beautiful potpourri from here. Congratulations on your Airbnb launch. You can see how much love you put in every detail. Your guests will feel it the moment they walk in the door.

I grew up in a home with a lot of land and my Mom was a wonderful gardener. I so miss going out to my yard to get cuttings for decorating around the house. Table scapes, mantel bowls of floating Camellias, bunches of Roses, and the wonderful Baileys Yellow Acacia blossoms. (smelly, but so gorgeous) The list goes on and on. Love what you do. Cathleen

Your road trip looked like so much fun, beautiful cars. My brother just bought a 1965 Mustang, it is beautiful, he was so excited. Your videos bring back so many memories. When I was young we lived in Marquette, Mich. We only had a woodstove to cook and bake with, coal to heat house and no indoor water, a well. My Mom would make homemade bread and spread butter on top, like you did . That stove made the best bread 😋Wonder bread had a waxy bag, and we would wipe the warm stove top with it, prettiest shine. Great tutorial on making the pillowcases, I can do that. So many good ideas. Thank you...

Dear Mary and family, Muscle cars are my favorite memories. They were the cards of my youth. The rumble of the engines...oh my !!! Thank you for sharing your family time with us.
