Outstanding performance! And a interesting idea to perform this piece with choir and instruments. "Der Abend" is one of my favorite works for choir, but it is peformed so rarely. Thank you for sharing!!!
So rarely performed because it requires the very best choirs to give it justice (like all the other Strauss a cappella works !). Here the string addition might be very helpful in sustaining the tone, in a discrete way, it's a very intelligent arrangement.
I certainly agree with u thomas! I hadn't heard this piece since the World Symposium for Choral Music in Sydney Australia back in 1996 ;-) This choir is outstanding!

Heavenly!
Hoooly... this must be the best existing version, really thought this piece would not be able to do properly... thank you so much!
Thank you so much for the kind words! :)
Perfect❤
Thanks for listening!
The addition of instruments changes the nature of the piece completely and masks the intracacies and complexities of the original.
After this, you HAVE to tackle the "Hymn" (Op.34 #2) and most of all the Deutsche Mottete ! 😉
Deutsche mottete is actually on this seasons program! We can't wait to perform it :)
