Wow, I thought i knew this work, but, this performance puts a different interpretation on the work, which so moving choir and orchestral dynamics. Many thanks.
A Regente Grete Pedersen merece nota 10 ! ADOREI!!!!
Indeed, it is the French pronunciation! But, for a French person like myself, it sounds very strange to hear Fauré's Requiem sung using a pronunciation which is largely associated with much earlier works-notably French vocal works of the 17th-18th century. At the end of the 19th century, when Fauré composed his requiem, this French pronunciation was still used; but that's also when the Catholic Church started harmonising the different pronunciations of Latin to merge them into the so-called Italian one. So, while it's philologically correct to sing Fauré with this peculiar French pronunciation (and even then, it should be more properly called a "Parisian" way to pronounce Latin, since there were many variations across France...), I'm not sure it does a service to the music. Philippe Herreweghe created a bit of a stir back in 2001, when he performed the Requiem using that "French" pronunciation; he explained that, to him, it brought out a clearer, more angelic, aesthetic better in tune with Fauré's. But again, to me at least, it makes it sound like the works or Rameau... That being said, this version is very beautiful 🙂
It's because they are singing authentic French pronunciation of the latin text. The Italianate pronunciation of latin introduced worldwide by Pope Pius X in 1903 postdates the composition of this work.
Hello! I'm one of the singers in the choir. We were performing this using French Latin pronunciation which was authentic at the time of the composition.
Vielen Dank!
Sehr berührend!!
This has been one of my favorite pieces of music for decades. Wonderful, musical performance from first note to last. Bravo!
Very well and beautifully played and sung. For me, your tempi and transparency took this composition to a (much) higher lever.!!
Huge bravo! This is a wonderful performance equal to the top names
Gorgeous, thank you !
absolument magnifique, I love this work by faure
Pie Jesu by Magnild Korsvik is heavenly! Hun var også solist i Requiem i Oslo domkirke i november i år. Fantastisk musikk!
Wonderfull music that has been part of my life forever. I love this concert, it is exquisitly performed.
Nydelig framføring ❤
Finally! Excellent tempos!!!!
Bravo! Splendid performance of my favourite Requiem. For me the tempo of the In Paradisum was a little too spirited but overall, excellent!

Goed gezongen, goed gespeeld, ook goed opgenomen qua beeld en geluid!
you're the best choir I've found on YT
Wonderful! Preparing to perform this in a few days and I would be very happy to sound half as good!
I totally agree, although it's two months for me.
What a performance! BRAVO
Wow, just stunning to listen too, never heard this arrangement before but it really works, thanks for this upload ..

Austero y conmovedor, gracias.
Hermosísimo!. Gracias!
stupenda esecuzione bravissimi complimenti
The work itself I love. In terms of performance I sometimes hear the orchestra overpower a bit the chorus.
lever=level ;-)
Do I hear a French pronunciation? 😊

At least not the german pronunciation😂
Yes, silly
@@antoniaezac4653 Thank you for your explaination! I was really confused when I heard their pronounciation.
Respectfully....
I disagree with the use of timpani in the Sanctus.
Text is latin not french
Welche Orchesterfassung ist das? Warum sind zwei Sopranisten von ihrer Stimme separiert? Und warum singt das erste Requiem ein Tenor Solist?
Glorious sound. But their /u/ vowel has far too much /i/ in it
That's somewhat churlish, Sir! They're representative of their own people who are just as entitled to enjoy this fabulous work as everyone else.
It's because they are singing authentic French pronunciation of the latin text. The Italianate pronunciation of latin introduced worldwide by Pope Pius X in 1903 postdates the composition of this work.
Being an italian i can say that the pronunciation is REALLY bad.
You realize the Requiem is sung in LATIN and not Italian, yes?
Latin is the language the work is sung in.
