- A Saab 340 aircraft operating as KLM Cityhopper Flight 433 crashes during an emergency landing in a field just outside Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Twenty-eight years later, a Boeing 757 operating as DHL Aero Expreso Flight 7216 departs Costa Rica for a cargo flight to Guatemala. While performing this flight, the aircraft loses its hydraulics, and during an emergency landing, it crashes immediately after touchdown.

The video stated that the oil pressure had dropped (according to the warning), but the picture in the reconstruction showed oil temperature. Without knowing whether the pressure was low and if so by how much, from then on the video made no sense. If they still showed pressure on he gauge, they should still have returned, but used the engine during the landing.

Without such, we never know how much actual experience a pilot has operating a damned plane lol.

Unfortunately, it's safe to assume this is a dead channel at this point. It has been several months since any new content, likely meaning that the original channel owner has sold the channel as a source of advertisement revenue for someone else.

I also agree... on one hand I guess it's a good thing that old content has to be recycled since there aren't many new incidents with closed investigative reports. However, the spelling/grammar in the captions is also totally off; I understand that not everyone is a native English speaker, but... spellcheck is a real thing.

@@pdxpony There are literal tons of crashes from before, worthy of making videos from. The entire Europe and South America has gold mines of crashes, accidents and incidents.

For those that are saying “well maybe he’s run out of accidents to cover!!1!” No. There’s a lot of more accidents to be covered, such as Pan Am 103, the Quincy Airport disaster, the 9/11 attacks, Pan Am 214, Trans-Colorado 2286, China Airlines 642, China Eastern 583, Polish Air Force 101, JAL123, Manx2 7100, Air India 182, among many others. He should use these ideas to make new episodes!

at this point, its obvious whomever is uploading now is not the same person. there isnt as much care in the quality, the english text is different, and there are no remembrances.
Trusting the instruments caused the Cityhopper crash. The Aero fight seemed lucky considering the toxic cargo. RIP 3 souls on the Cityhopper. Thank you for this great presentation.

I’m glad the DHL flight was able to make it down without injuries. However, you know there was a lot of people that were upset that their packages were delivered late! Awesome video!
This is sad, since 2020 all we've been getting is re-uploads and very few new videos.
I look forward to every thursday that a new aviation accident would await, but instead all I see is re-uploads of air crashes that were never even that prominent in the first place.
By prominent, I mean incidents that require 100+ victims (surviving or deceased), but all we get are crappy videos about "how 1 person died", or how "12 people saw terrifying moments just before landing".
You guys really need to step up your game, other channels have already overtook you thanks to your crappy videos.

Due to a short circuit, it causes the oil pressure warning light to switch on which misleads the pilots. And the Captain's poor skills made it worse.
Yup! I have to agree with other commenters. This channel needs to move away from commercial disasters and move on to recent GA events. Fortunately, commercial flying has really improved.. but there are still things happening often enough to warrant commentary. They just aren’t as significant as the past ones. GA has lots of things going on on a weekly basis, but it requires actual flying knowledge to produce worthwhile videos that are informative. Juan does this magnificently in almost real time (hours) after the event.
Maybe TFC has run it’s course. One can only present historical events to the point of over saturation of commentary and viewer interest. After that… .
Was the DHL incident really 2 years ago? It seemed fresh in my memory, like even this year or late last year. What's the matter with me?
Two completely different situations: first, two monkeys in the cockpit caused a practically operational plane to crash. And secondly, good pilots survived a really difficult emergency situation.

The reason why the back part of the DHL 7216 part caught fire after the gear collapse was because the fuel tank was damaged, resulting in the explosion. Some of you guys may already know this, but something I just wanted to point out.

Did the first pilot ever pass his engine check-out list tests? Do pilots who fail parts of their tests have to show proficiency in those areas they failed before being licensed to fly for commercial airlines? Or, are they just retested with the same questions until they pass the part they failed?
I can understand the captain reducing power on the #2 engine if there was poor or no oil pressure, but I would expect him to gradually feather up the power once airborne to see if the pressure returned to normal.
At the worst, (if there actually was an oil circulation problem with #2), he could have returned the #2 engine to at least half power (from idle), to assist his landing. At that point, if there was poor or no oil pressure to #2 engine, it would not have had time to seize and it would have been helpful for a normal landing procedure.
This case appears that the captain was tuned out, half asleep, incompetent, or not familiar with the airplane he was flying. He didn’t fly it as a single engine airplane and he didn’t fly it as a compromised dual engine airplane. He didn't know what to do and it turned out there was nothing wrong. (Yes, he didn't follow a check list for the #2 engine, which might have brought it back to normal working order, but he still should have been able to safely land his airplane if he followed up his common sense first action of turning down the thrust of the #2 engine with more common sense, of either feathering it up from idle once airborne to see if the oil pressure was OK, or at least bringing it back to half or more power to help him when landing.)
Pilots who fail any part of their exams should be required to take their entire coursework over again and be retested when they finish. Three failures and they are OUT!

You would think that the pilot monitoring would take action to save his and everyone else’s life when they see the pilot flying do something to cause the plane to crash.
There have been a lot of recent aircraft incidents lately but no coverage. What's going on?
I mean there are only so many air disasters to cover right? I think TFC might have covered them all and just doing re-skins/republish of old videos to keep the channel going. Not sure what else they can do at this point, if it was either sold or the original creator has run out of content.
The consensus is that there are many more disasters to be covered.
With a crash as violent as that- I'm surprised as many people survived at they did

There are other very good channels on youtube with similar content.
The KLM Capy there did just make all the wrong moves at once. The first officer must have screamed and cursed at him all the way to the end.

The City Hopper. We don't see the final attitude or impact of the Saab.The dramatic thumbnail cons you into expecting the worst but incredibly, thankfully, most people survived. DHL. As of now, nothing is clear from the video. Why landing control was lost, if the plane was too heavy etc. Is an Emergency landing ever Routine?

I love your videos, but would like me to do a voiceover for them? I can record on my own computer and send them back in whatever format you wish. I'd also proofread the script, and say it in a very slow and matter-of-fact manner so that the text can still remain on the screen for the longer duration, and narrate in a very static, relaxed style.

There are tons uncovered here and lots of pretty interesting aviation incidents without death. Other channels are doing it fine, even going back to the 1940s, 50s. Still captivating.

Of course the climbing ability isn't there. You took away half the torque you needed to increase altitude. Never flew a plane in my life and i can finger that one out.
Even though Spanish was my first language, ATC com in Spanish does not sound as practical as in English.

People complaining here about reuploads are the same ones that complained about the voice overs when he tried to transition to doing voice overs which I loved.
Both are valid complaints. The text presentation is far superior to the voice. The lack of new material is irksome. Why should people not express their views?
The voice-overs created an accessibility issue. Automatic captions don't work well at all and many people need text to be able to follow the video. Voice-overs would have been better if the creator had left the text on screen along with the voice.
@@mobimek1171 I totally agree with you. That is what I commented to the TFC post on a video a long time ago because I couldn’t watch every video during work because it was text. So I loved the voiceovers and also stated the text should be left for those that prefer it that way.
I honestly thought The Flight Channel was going to evolve into like Mentour Pilot/Mentour Now!. It didn’t because of the comments saying they didn’t like the voiceovers.

It's strange to see all the complaining over something that is presented for free. If you don't post regularly YT disrupts the algorithm. It can cause a channel to disappear. Maybe something is going on, an illness or something, and they are posting to just keep the channel going into they can recover and start working hard on new content.
