As a nearly full blooded white guy who has tried to speak Spanish since I was a little boy this stort speaks to me as well
My wife is 4th generation here, not a word of spanish. Not a drop of latin anything in me (I can hide in a pile of PVC pipe) but I speak spanish. Our kids are gonna learn spanish so they can talk to me and leave mom out.

The cinematography of them is actually impressive for a show like this and the "plots" are connected to each other between the "seasons" which makes them more interesting. But they do get old once you've seen them before
I have a friend with Latin parents that didn't learn Spanish until he was in his 20s. His Spanish is still shitty, but man, do I love the guy for trying to keep part of his cultural identity. Positive cultural things only enrich your life and I encourage everyone to reach out to them.
It's super important, to understand your roots and being able to speak to your grand parents and other relatives who don't speak Spanish.
Some people tend to forget it to fit in. They forget where they came from or where their parents did. It’s ok to assimilate yourself to another culture. Just don’t forget where you came from. That’s who I’m looking at it right now being Hispanic.
Your cultural identity is where you are from, not your ancestors.
I was adopted by a white family at age 4. "Un poquito" has become a norm for me. NOT MY FAULT!!! lol

While I agree that you're not gonna reach a strong conversational level, however you definitely get the necessary starting blocks. After h.s I was told I should strengthen both for higher paying job opportunities (which I did) but I never seem to use either jaja. It just takes practice, like anything else

Al never disappoints , his material kills! Went to go see him and Joey a couple weeks ago at the comedy store, his new material is Fire. This was the funniest episode this season so far. If anyone has the opportunity to visit the Comedy Store do it, the set list is full of awesome comedians.

I saw Al Madrigal absolutely dismantle a drunk female heckler once. She was super obnoxious, he warned her probably 6 times and then he just goes the fuck off. He hurt her soul, she started to cry and the people around her pointed and laughed. Then after she ran away, he went right in to his closer crushed it.

I accidentally ran into a local comic while he was trying to do a set and I was thinking "Why did they book a comic for this?". It was at an outdoor festival, during the day, and with tons of parents with their kids. This was before I even saw this video and I still remember thinking "...Why did he let himself get booked for this? This seems like it would be brutal for even the best comics".
I can understand Al. Being a Latino (part Rican) born in Jersey, I really don't speak Spanish at all. I understand but aside from cursing people out in Jersey we don't need it. And yeah those Latino nights in Hollywood are dumb. My race isn't my act. I talk about being mixed like 10% of my act. The rest is my life experience and observation. That's why Freddie Prinze was my favorite Latino comic being Puerto Rican wasn't his whole act. I can't sit through a comedy special that's all about color and who had it tough.
This video is even better if you live in Stockton like i do. The part about spending his money at the Tracy outlets was specially funny.

For most hispanics, it is a "crime" to be hispanic and not speak spanish. I do speak spanish because i lived with my grandma in mexico for about 10 years. The unfair part of this situation is that just because you are of hispanic herritage you are obligated to speak spanish when asians come to america and their kids are never asked if they know their native languaje because they do not. No one in america expects an asian to speak their languaje if they were born in america. So why do they expect hispanics to speak spanish when they were born in america? So unfair. My kids, who are second generation on america (i was the first) are expected to know spanish which they do because of all the pressure from their peers. Simply unfair☹
