tbf on its FP cost, you can use the carian filagree crest AND the blue dew and more importantly, since there isnt techincally any spells associated with it (yes there is the nightmaiden stuff but idk if that can really count or not) to some degree, your ONLY going to likely be using it without any spells even in a themed build so its not too big a drawback.
also the deflect crystal tear seems almost 100% perfect for the shield of night as it makes up for its shitty guard boost if you just make sure to time your block properly tho it does still put more honus on you to have enough skill to use effectivly and only works for 3 minutes.
Heres a build idea, in your right hand go with the Varian knight straight sword, crian knight thrusting sword (your spellcasting catalyst), and moonrythills sword with your left hand having the carian knight shield/dueling shield depending on what flavor you want with the craian retaliation ash of war, rellanas swords, and than I would say the messmer flame seal. From there, you dhit 60/60 in both int and fth and try to hit 40 dex and enough end to carry everything with I would say 60 in vig and 30 in mind while wearing the carian knight armor. Lastly your spells would be all 3 messmer spells taking up 4 spell slots, carian glintblade, glintblade trio, glintblade phalanx, carian flashsword, carian piercer, and adulas moonblade.

Crazy how I missed out on using the church pick and frayed blade but now I started off the DLC with the guardian swordspear which is kinda similar and later sword of night. Plus lies of P basically had a bunch of weapons I didn’t use in Bloodborne or even DS3
The real problem is that From give us a lot of good looking weapons with sick skills, but i can't basically use it with bosses that give u a 1 second window after 15 attack combo where u just can press r1 one time

I hope you get the rest you need soon, but otherwise I'm really interested in seeing what you can out together with the smithscript shield. It seems to have a lot of the same issues with the shield of night - garbage defenses and guard boost, and it's unique, so you can't put a parry ash of war on it either, which is what light shields are usually used for. I'm not sure why you would take the shield instead of just using a different smithscript weapon if you wanted something to throw. Really enjoying all the new content you've been uploading since the dlc release! Thank you for putting all that together!

You don't need anything special. You can add them to any of his Paladin builds just replace the sword with the axes. 40-50 strength and faith. Dump a bunch of stats into Vigor. Use the standard faith buffs. Flame, grant me strength, golden vow, etc.
I would just search this, a hundred people have done builds using both versions of the death night axes. They’re super popular, so you can get started right away
Can you make a Sword of Solitude build? Also would the Two-Handed Talisman not be better than Godfrey Icon in most cases? Your probably not gonna get fully charged a lot in a boss fight, but your regular R1/R2 attacks and jump attacks will get a significant boost.
I feel like this is a good base to make a proper void knight hybrid build for actual endgame by making it a primarily dex/int build. Sticking with the void theme, you could invest into Night and / or Gravity sorceries as well as use different weapons with different Ashes of War like Spinning Gravity Thrust (only on greatswords or colossal swords), Gravitas or Waves of Darkness. For example, casting Fleeting Microcosm, Gravitational Missile or Collapsing Stars to combo in your Ash of War of choice. This would also open up the possibility of using Meteorite of Astel which would give this build the main thing it's lacking: tools for every situation.

We got a couple new Poison/Deadly Poison-related items in the expansion: Poisoned Hand, Deadly Poison Perfume Bottle, Tooth Whip, The Poison Flower Blooms Twice, etc. I was curious if there was something here that would be worth playing around with. Perhaps updating an older build with them? Poisoned Hand has the Mushroom Crown/Kindred of Rot Exultation effect, even if you're 2-Handing the Serpentbone Blade or whatever suits your fancy.
Think it's a good weapon but needs a buff to adjust it's scaling. If it's true it used to have Intelligence scaling before the patch, then they should return it because AFAIK the weapon skill scales with Magic, so there's no way to currently improve it. With that change I think the weapon could be pretty good. Maybe drop the FP cost too.

I’m surprised he didn’t mention once about the heavy attack, which it shares with the serpentbone blade. It’s my favorite R2 for katanas since it triggers milicent’s prosthesis/ RWSI with one R2 so you can really rack up the dmg by using it often. Then you can use a charged L2 and get max dmg with shard of Alexander and Godfrey icon. This is one of my favorite weapons from the dlc and it has a good amount of mixups. The L2 combos into an r1 which you can then do a slightly charged R2 after for up to a 6 hit combo that can hit even in PvP. Most will spam roll away after the 4 hit but it’s good for people who roll around you. If you want to powerstance katanas you can get a second one, or use a uchigatana / Nagakiba with lighting slash for peak dmg or chilling mist for frost bit debuff to gain 20% more dmg. Also for PvP players, the charged L2 is perfect for wake up on backstabs or riposte, and it’s also great against shield users as it cannot be blocked. I like using this mainly as a swap for aggressive opponents since the regular L2 comes out very fast. For max dmg, use exalted flesh and golden vow consumable aswell as pickled turtle for more stamina, then use thorny cracked tear and magic tear. My talismans for max dmg are Milicent’s, RWSI, Godfrey icon, and Shard of Alexander.
It should be noted that the shield is VERY good with the new parry tear. You don’t lose health if you parry it making your guard counter much more viable. Hope this helps!
This weapon is really fun in PvP been having a blast with this and the night claws. I have my build as a scorer hybrid so I’m not relying just on the weapon skill since it doesn’t do the best damage
That's what I was thinking too I feel like this weapon isn't as hyped as I thought those three slash attacks feel like it should do more damage rivers of blood is still by far the best katana in the game because of its insane bleed damage to me that's the best way to kill Melania she's super weak to bleed shit like 99% percent of all bosses or weak to bleed my favorites are the crucible knight build Godfrey's Axe bloody samurai build and the bloody elegance build lol

If you really wanna use the shield for damage, you can use the HP Dew talisman, Royal Remains armor, and the physique tear that heals when you take damage. Maybe wield a health-gain weapon like Blasphemous Blade or a butcher knife.
Imo all new unique katanas and great katanas has great ash of war skills. Star-Lined Sword for example may have inferior stats than Rivers of Blood but its skill allows you to be more mobile, has more stagger, while having arguable the same extended slash range Rivers of Blood has. It also complements with Moonveil if you wanna dual wield katanas. I cant wait to get this. If only you can triple wield Katanas, I would go Zorro with Rivers, Star-Lined Sword, and Sword of Night. :D

Love all the builds Fex. Can you do a build on the Bloodfiend's Fork? I have been very interested in a poke build with a shield and would love to incorporate that. Does hurt it's bleed and arcane which I haven't actially done anything with. Need a change from Moonlight Sword/Sacred Relic Saord build In the meantime, I have seen the Haima Hopilite build, what are good reommendations do you have for shield and poke combo? Doesn't have to be a spear.
for this build i chose to power stance with rivers of blood for talismans i use shard of alexander rotten winged sword insignia milicints prosthesis and fire scorpion charm for the rivers of blood for armor i chose fingerprint helm with blaidds gear and for the physick i chose flame shrouding cracked tear and thorny cracked tear

This is less of a criticism of the build, but the weapon itself. I think the claws of night are little better than the blade. Great range, powerful AOW, and also looks badass. Since the scaling is the same you really could use either the claws or the blade in the same build.

You forgot to mention it, this weapon also ignore shield when fully charged, since the blade becomes immaterial. It's niche, but it's something.
While costly that makes it *totally* worth it as a knight slayer. Especially against the black hammer knights in the DLC who have fairly slow attacks.
The skill is unblockable no matter what even if you don't charge it I js spam it when fighting people with shields

The Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword pairs really well with this armor visually

Star-Lined Sword for example may have inferior stats than Rivers of Blood but its skill allows you to be more mobile, has more stagger, while having arguable the same extended slash range Rivers of Blood has. It also complements with Moonveil if you wanna dual wield katanas.
I cant wait to get this. If only you can triple wield Katanas, I would go Zorro with Rivers, Star-Lined Sword, and Sword of Night. :D

Can you do a build on the Bloodfiend's Fork? I have been very interested in a poke build with a shield and would love to incorporate that. Does hurt it's bleed and arcane which I haven't actially done anything with. Need a change from Moonlight Sword/Sacred Relic Saord build
In the meantime, I have seen the Haima Hopilite build, what are good reommendations do you have for shield and poke combo? Doesn't have to be a spear.
I ran your Sanguine Samurai build (rivers of blood) and have been running it in the DLC so far. Is this build an evolution of that?
for this build i chose to power stance with rivers of blood for talismans i use shard of alexander rotten winged sword insignia milicints prosthesis and fire scorpion charm for the rivers of blood for armor i chose fingerprint helm with blaidds gear and for the physick i chose flame shrouding cracked tear and thorny cracked tear

This is less of a criticism of the build, but the weapon itself. I think the claws of night are little better than the blade. Great range, powerful AOW, and also looks badass. Since the scaling is the same you really could use either the claws or the blade in the same build.
Agreed but I also think the claws are better but tbf the claws are a top 3 weapon in this game. Sword of night is still amazing just not top 3
